  1. I've never heard of meunster cheese...I guess I wasn't the big cheese enthusiast I thought I was...what does it taste like? I'll make an effort to buy some next time I'm buying groceries. As for white cheddar. What can I say? Cheez-Its in its white cheddar flavor form is probably the best cheese-flavored pre-packaged cracker ever made.
  2. ^ Did you do that edit? If you did, I must give you props for doing a pretty good job. I never had a doubt that the Renegade layout would fit in Grizzly's spot. Grizzly has tons of "dead space" inside the ride's structure and doesn't really make good use of that land.
  3. Who are you kidding? That would be a great day. Like noted above, the more Diving Machines, the better. I've yet to hop on one myself...maybe for 2011, Magic Mountain can build The Goliath's Revenge - Fly at the Speed of Diving Machine Coaster...that way I'll be able to get a Diving Machine credit without having to fly out to Williamsburg or Tampa.
  4. Come on Swoosh. Don't be mad at me. I'm just anxious waiting to see your construction photos for the Evel Knievel coaster.
  5. Guys, keep in mind she pulled this list of rides all from RCDB's "Record Breakers" list. She even noted that too. Anybody else but me notice that all of those 10 coasters are all either on RCDB's list of: Top 10 Tallest Top 10 Fastest I mean, come on. She included Desperado. That has to tell you she strictly compiled the list based on ride stats, not ride experience.
  6. Okay, I did a little search and it turns out TPR doesn't have a topic like this -- which is surprising as I was quite certain every topic that there is to talk about has been covered. Except... Cheese. Anybody else really love cheese? I mean the edible kinds you can purchase at the local grocer, not the "funny" term you would use to jokingly describe a certain kind of disgusting bodily discharge or milk produced by pregnant women over the age of 55. I love Dill Havarti. Love love love it. Best cheese ever. I could eat a whole block of it, and have done so before, but I did get very sick -- probably cause I also drank a lot of milk at the same time. Pepper Jack? Love it. Provolone? Great on sandwiches. Parmesan? Can't eat speghetti or pizza without it. I can't hang with Bleu cheese though. The one cheese I won't eat. I also love cottage cheese although I don't think it's technically a cheese --- and cheesecake...can we say best cakes ever created by man? So...any other cheese eating people out there that want to suggest a great cheese? Cheese haters also welcome to join in on the discussion.
  7. I totally agree. That is so funny and original. Wes, you are just too much sometimes. Kings Dominion should TOTALLY pay you to use "Dominionator" for their new ride. How did you ever come up with that. So creative. Do they hand out creativity awards on TPR? You SHOULD seriously get one if they had those. [/end overkill]
  8. ^^ I have to disagree. Disney parks are about shrouding guests in fantasy-like environments that are much unlike the everyday sights and sounds. It's about escaping reality, in some way. Though I will slightly side with you on the fact that there needs to be more to do at the park, that's not the biggest issue with California Adventure at this point in time. Officials at Disney and the millions of visitors to the park since it opened in 2001 have noted that California Adventure fails to "connect with visitors on an emotional level" like Disneyland does. This is very true. Most of this lack of emotional spark comes from the park being built "on the cheap" and is certainly reflected by the building facades and overall design of the park. The new "facelift" will splash the park all-over with something that was missing before --- Disneyesque quality and attention to detail without budget constraints in the way. The cheap, cartoonish, and campy 2-D thematic props will be replaced by charming facades that have character, depth, and some sort of story to it. And of course, the multitute of "more things to do" that are planned as well.
  9. You do realize that Patriot is not up to full speed until it hits the bottom of the Immelman. The 123' drop goes into a progressively sloping linear delineation due to the topography upon which Patriot is built. The 60 mph comes from the press release. Patriot goes faster, the park for some reason won't release just HOW fast it does go. That is direct from the mouth of several members of mgmt. Okay you're right. On a similar topic, Knott's Silver Bullet actually hits a top speed of 80 mph, but the management won't admit it. They just noted 55 mph on the press release just so they could keep the real top speed a secret.
  10. ^ Um, I think he was agreeing with you, not countering your point.
  11. It has not been officially released how fast Patriot goes (it goes faster, off the record). I quote from the Worlds of Fun website: "Hanging beneath the track, thrill-seekers climb a 149-foot lift hill, then plunge down a 123-foot curved drop reaching a speed of nearly 60-MPH." Nearly 60 mph denotes almost reaching 60 mph, but just not quite. No need to try and convince me that Patriot's 123-foot drop gets the cars going faster than 60 mph. Physics just doesn't allow it. You know, for a moment, I was going to interject and comment that Kings Island has a huge collection of 13 roller coasters and you shouldn't be complaining. Then I went over their roster of coasters in my head and will have to sort of agree with you.
  12. ^ That's a possibility, but I certainly doubt it. The odds that both coasters are 104' tall and 52 mph and described with a "twister first drop" kind of tells us enough. And FYI, Talon and Patriot aren't the same height and have different top speeds. One is 135-feet tall and goes 58 mph, the latter is 149-feet tall and goes 60 mph.
  13. Ya, and by keeping Grizzly, there is no way Great America will ever achieve that status. Is there anybody out there that doesn't agree with the fact that Grizzly is by far one of the worst wooden roller coasters ever built? Grizzly sits on a lot of real estate inside park borders, and with its removal, there is clearly enough space for the new upcoming Renegade clone. I doubt the park is about to go and remove existing building facilities to shoehorn this coaster in --- when they can just remove one of their least popular rides which happens to also take up a lot of space. On the flipside, it could also be the company showing how serious they are about committing to operating the park. No company that is intending to unload a property in the near future is going to drop $14 million in improvements on it.
  14. Sorry I will take a bunch of "best roller coasters in the world" over some record breaking portable carnival ride.
  15. Waits for the Norcal enthusiasts that were b*tching about another year without a new coaster at Great America to piss their pants in excitement. My assumption is that it will be replacing The Grizzly. It's about time.
  16. ^ You have posted that same thing like 25 times here in different threads and at different forums. We get it. You think you're funny.
  17. after some research, another coaster site listed it as 1200M which comes to about 3,973 feet which is close but just looking at the 2 it seems like Superman is longer....oh well JEFF With coasters, you can never tell "just by looking." I used to think Mantis looked a lot longer than The Riddler's Revenge. Turns out Riddler is a good 470 feet of track longer than Mantis.
  18. Ugh. I'm just worried Catapult will probably end up in Flashback's spot at Magic Mountain. *barf*
  19. ^ No where. Because that wasn't the point. He posted that to make a point that B&M was at one point closely involved with the Busch Gardens Old Country management for a roller coaster that eventually became Drachen Fire.
  20. ^ Everything you need to know here: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=32630&highlight=flashback
  21. ^ A paint job for a coaster the size of BORG can exceed a hundred thousand dollars. It's not cheap and can't be done quickly. It definitely has nothing to do with the partnership being "lazy." Why spend thousands of additional dollars on a new service mark, logo design, marketing materials, ride signage, when you can just reuse it? There is nothing wrong with the name Dominator. It's generic enough for Kings Dominion to use, and it also implies a ride of great power. Cedar Fair is still carrying a $2.1 billion dollar debt, peeps! Don't forget that.
  22. Yes it's still there. No, it's not operating. Yes, it is slated for removal sometime this winter.
