Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
Koasterking48 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Visiting on the 13th next weekend. I'm hoping crowds are reasonable since I don't feel like splurging $80 for FL+. Does anyone know what the weekend after the 4th (specifically Sunday) looks like? I'm looking forward to trying out the Singshot this year since I haven't tried out Kings Island's in a long time. -

Millennium with its old set of switchbacks was very long. The Bat is another (I think someone might've already mentioned that). Magnum also holds a very long line as well. -

Having ridden Manta, I can definitely say that the seats and restraints are very comfortable. I really liked that ride despite its small size. -

I definitely feel the same way about Cedar Point. I visit yearly, but I always have a game plan coming into the park. Cedar Point just isn't a go-with-the-flow kind of park IMO. If you want to enjoy almost everything it has to offer, you need to know what the optimal times are to get on certain coasters. You also should come before opening and stay until closing just to ensure you get literally everything. However, I also agree that this could take the fun out of the day, but roller coasters are more fun if you wait less. -

An idea just hit me... When I was in line for Beast, I definitely got a good look at the construction. It looks like it will certainly be a haunted house, but I think it might be the new home for Wolf Pack. That way, demolition for as SoB's old station can happen and there is plenty of room there for future expansion! -

A rivalry may be a slight exaggeration, but the parks are very competitive. Let us compare the two parks shall we? Both parks have a kick-butt headlining coaster with plentiful airtime Both have a mid-sized woodie (HW has two though) Both have a large, newly expanded water park Both have the majority of flat rides catering to families Both are independently owned and operated Both have the EXACT same priced admission of $40 online $45 at the gate Both are located within >90 minutes of one another While none of this points to which park is better (IMO you should visit both regardless), the parks are indeed competing closely in this area's market. It shouldn't be a big deal that news stations are calling a close competition a rivalry. Edit: Holiday World has a billboard located literally right next to Kentucky Kingdom. Like you can see it clearly from the top of Deep Water Dive! Talk about being competitive. Exactly Competition brings creativity, and creativity brings amazing rides! -

Having just rode Banshee yesterday, I would totally be okay with a clone They already have a flying scooters called Eagle's Flight. -

Got back from Kings Island which I visited yesterday. Had a great time and can say that Banshee is the best ride at Kings Island by far! Loved every second of it! The Beast was also really running well and had some great night rides. Flight Of Fear, as I said earlier, is closed indefinitely and may not be open for Banshee Bash. Everyone that is going to Banshee Bash is in for a real treat as many of the coasters are running well. My opinion changed about Diamondback and it was more enjoyable the second and third time around. The only ride I didn't enjoy was Vortex. It just plain sucked and needs to be dismantled soon. Overall, I consider this visit a complete success! By the way, night rides on Banshee and Beast are mandatory for a great visit. -

Do you really want admission to be an extra $20 just so you get access to an inferior water park with lame slides? Soak City at CP sucks and I don't need admission to it so the separate admission ideology is completely logical. -

I said it sucked compared to previous years, but never called it rough. It definitely isn't in its prime this season. -

In line for Diamondback now. Trains are churning out much quicker than earlier today. Invertigo was "parked" on the lift for about a half hour with riders. Been closed all day and running empty trains. -

At the park right now, will post full TR tomorrow but I can attest to Diamondback rattling this year. Ops are sluggish, assigned seating person won't allow front row request. Banshee is fantastic and clear favorite for me in the park. Flight of Fear closed all day so far. More to come... -
I know we are in the midst of the Harry Potter madness and the ever-approaching official opening, but I just had a thought. After reading an article online about a real Krusty Krab opening in Palestine, why hasn't Universal capitalized on the success of Spongebob over the past ten years. I'd figure building a real functioning Krusty Krab with actual Krabby Patties to compliment it would be an enormous success for families. Plus adding in a walk-through neighborhood with Spongebob's pineapple, Squidward's Stone Head, and Patrick's rock would also be a great idea. I'm thinking that this would be another mini-land like the Simpsons rather than a full-fledged expansion (although that is also feasible). Here is the real Krusty Krab. Very similar to the cartoon version IMO Also to comment on Harry Potter, I'm hoping the crowds start to settle down in a year so I can manage to visit in my already-planned 2015 Orlando Trip

^^ As far as I know, most of Southern Indiana is filled with Christian people, or people who don't care about what Christian people do, therefore it isn't a big deal that Christiany things are in the park. -

^^ Thanks for the info, and about the better crowd, Mason (or specifically Kings Mill) is a pretty rich neighborhood, and Cincinnati doesn't really have much of a bad neighborhood anywhere. Sure there are some projects, but I think the locals and season pass holders really contribute to the nicer-looking crowd you encountered. I will say that while I was at Kentucky Kingdom, I experienced the complete opposite when I've visited Kentucky Kingdom under Six Flags in 08 and this season. The very definition of white trash was plastered before my eyes. Im not really sure why Louisville brings in a "different" crowd, but it does... I also agree why many people enjoy Kings Island, despite its somewhat lacking lineup. The customer service is very good and the park feels very locally grown and loved. Sure they could use another big coaster to round out things, but like I said, it's very enjoyable nonetheless. -

^^ Hey prozach, how were wait times looking? Like what was the shortest and longest times you encountered? -
It physically has been reprofiled. Whether or not the experience would've been different and/or better is only up to whether someone actually experienced the original version. Like I said, it still looks really fun, but not as extreme as expected. Edit: I am thinking (or at least hoping) that it was a joke with the thread rename and insults fired at it.

1. Busy, but nothing too awful. 60-75 minutes at most I would think. 2. If you're talking about the parking lot: Then hell yes it is. Very close to the Magnum/Resort entrance and many people mistake it as employee parking, so it isn't always full. However, you won't get the "magical" feeling that the Main Entrance gives to some people with Gatekeeper towering over. 3. Ride it anyways if the line is 20 min or less. Get the credit and move on if you think you'll hate it. For me, it is not, but some people like Standups.
