  1. WDW's ride is longer. It has 3 (I think?) extra scenes, although one of them is in the Disneyland version's queue. It also has a surround sound effect in the preshow, which hasn't been added to Disneyland's yet. IMO, the facade is also much better, but that's completely subjective. They're currently making further enhancements to the queue, but like most people, I have no idea what that entails. The reason DL's Mansion was usually compared favorably is because WDW failed to update the attraction like DL did... and the maintenance sucked. But the refurb a couple years ago fixed all that, and it's now the superior version, like it should have been all along.
  2. A person may dislike the fantasy genre, but I don't see how that would make the slightest bit of difference here. The area Potter replaced, Merlinwood, was ALSO fantasy. Dragons, wizards, unicorns, the whole kit & caboodle. If you hate Wizarding World because it's fantasy, you should have hated Merlinwood equally, if not moreso, since it represented fantasy in a very generic, stereotypical way. While I'm no fan of the Potter mythos, I can appreciate the fact that it's more creative than what was previously there.
  3. Glorified meet & greets for little children are fine and dandy, so long as you provide everyone else with something to do. Something that justifies constant price hiking. Disney is completely failing to provide that "something" with the FL expansion, and many other recent attractions. And I'm not sure what your beef with WWoHP is, but it turned out exactly as advertised. What additional substance were you expecting? Yes, it's crowded, but that was to be expected. At least it includes a cutting-edge E ticket attraction, unlike the new FL.
  4. And in that same time span, park upkeep has steadily gone down the toilet. Hilarious. I'm proud to be counted among those who WON'T "keep going anyway."
  5. Regarding height limitations on FJ, Dwight Howard (6'11'') was at the grand opening and was reportedly able to ride. So... uhhm... yeah.
  6. For the record, WWoHP does carry a soda, the pumpkin fizz. It's just a carbonated version of pumpkin juice, but it's a soda by definition.
  7. No. Just no. Orlando isn't getting Transformers, but if we did, there's plenty of space behind Simpsons to put it. They don't need to go closing classic attractions.
  8. I fear for my safety in its current structural condition. Plus I can't ride it without feeling like I'm going to be broken into a thousand pieces, which doesn't help.
  9. From everything I've been hearing, this was a pretty half-assed refurbishment. Not at all what the attraction needed. I'll still be afraid to ride it when it reopens.
  10. While this usually wouldn't be true at all, the non-peak nights have been strangely busy this year. I've heard that the peak nights have actually been less crowded, if you can believe it. I can only imagine why.
  11. This has got to be a little awkward for Universal. They're now 50/50 partners with a company who operates a competitor. Of course, there are those rumors that Blackstone intends to sever ties with UO...
  12. They're currently in the process of installing scenic pieces for the ride.
  13. In terms of Space and Everest, I would hardly consider them as lowly as you speak of. Space is a truly one of a kind ride, the first ride to successfully incorporate incredible forces in a motion based ride. And the sheer scale of Everest is unlike anything else. What Disney goes for is the awe factor. I have yet to see Universal top the queue of Indiana Jones, or the pure scale of the Tower of Terrors . Even Everest, and Test Track are truly well thought out, themed well, and magnanimous in their effect on the theme park industry altogether. However, Universal's formula for success in terms of Harry Potter seems lackluster. They are essentially re-branding the entire park, rethemeing one of the best rides of all times, and for what? A book. I would consider this a ploy to ride the wake of Harry Potter. I wouldn't be all too surprised if in 5 years this Harry Potter land will look exactly like Forks, Washington; with Dragons rebranded as Edward vs. Jacob. I would like to reply to this with some sort of intelligent, well thought out rebuttal. Unfortunately, I find myself unable to do so since I have no idea what you're talking about. All I got out of this post was "I'm a Disney fan." Perhaps you could help me out by using actual quantitative terms instead of hyperbole to describe these attractions? I mean, what exactly is the "sheer scale" of Everest and how is it "unlike anything else?" And how is Universal re-branding an entire park when it's only one section that's changing?
  14. A larger list of films featured in Silver Screams: Phantom of the Opera, Shaun of the Dead, My Bloody Valentine, The Strangers, Army of Darkness, The Thing.
  15. I'm not entirely sure what they did, but the difference is obvious if you ride it. Of course, you'd have to remember what it was like beforehand. It doesn't feel as steep. Also, there's a bunny hop at the bottom of the drop, out of view, which was flattened out somewhat.
  16. The dark ride is indoors, but there will be outdoor rides in TWWOHP, such as the rethemed Dueling Dragons and Flying Unicorn.
  17. The drop was changed because it was supposedly hurting people. The lap bars were installed because idiots kept leaving the log.
  18. The drop was indeed tamed significantly from its original configuration. The new lap bars are also pretty snug, even for smaller people. I wouldn't expect much in the way of air.
  19. Construction update: http://www.horrornights.be/construction/90309.php
