^ Will you be spending the whole day? I've gone on a super busy weekday day in July and had no problem getting every credit in the park, then had a few hours to get in several re-rides on everything I wanted. The operations at that park were very good and efficient, and they were running multiple trains on everything. So even without a flashpass, you'd probably be ok.

Lemme check the future quick... Oh geez, looks pretty crowded to me! There will also be a high if 68 degrees and the lines will average about one hour for each ride. Better make sure to buy a flash pass, but hurry because at 1:13 Batman gets stuck on its lift for about 20 minutes. This might be my favorite post I have ever read on TPR! I can't stop laughing!

I agree. In other pictures (which I'm not going to bother posting - you all know how to go to rcdb.com), you can clearly see that there are individual footings - not one single connected one. Also, I don't see how it would make a difference to the structure. The same amount of trains would traverse the course of the loops, so why should it make much difference if they are in the loops at the same time?

Tower of Terror Carnival Knockoff

Fantastic! I'm so glad we now have a video and a glowing review from someone who's braved this deathtrap. This is definitely going on my rides bucket list. -
Does anyone know anything about this knockoff carnival version of Disney's Tower of Terror? I stumbled upon it and thought it was hilarious. Now I'm really curious about what the ride is like inside. Anyone seen it/been on it? http://www.interlink-lg.com/UsedRides/FamilyAttractions/page11.html

There are a lot of horrendously rough coasters, but most of them I can still find the fun factor in. One ride that was so rough, bumpy and uncomfortable but lacked any redeeming qualities that made me even semi-enjoy it was Rolling Thunder at SFGAdv. Never. Again.

The Mysterious B&M Green Wingrider Track
jzoole replied to GigaG's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I am not going to delude myself into thinking there is a chance this is headed to my home park (SFNE of Lake Compounce? Come on). But if it were headed to a park in the US, there a few different spots that would make sense. If it's Six Flags, I'd be most inclined to think about the rumored new DC Comics section at SFOT, but SFOG or SFStL would also make sense. If it's Cedar Fair, Knott's would be the most logical choice due to the timing of it all, but King's Island also seems like a possibility as 2013 would mark 4 years since their last coaster. Maybe that will be the year SoB is removed at last? Another park that popped into my head was SeaWorld San Antonio. Both the other SeaWorld parks have just recently built new roller coasters, but SeaWorld San Antonio hasn't built a major new coaster since Steel Eel in 1999. I could see the green track fitting the theme of some horrific sea creature. If we want to be realistic, it's probably headed somewhere in China where only the elite enthusiasts will ever get a chance to ride it. -

^Has it? I thought that was just theming. I mean, isn't Gotham City supposed to be a depressing place? Anyway, they could keep flashback and still have plenty of room for a handful of new attractions. But I don't feel any sense of loss when a Boomerang is removed. They're lame and they're a dime a dozen IMO. I think a Eurofighter or maybe even a compact GCI (a la American Thunder) would be awesome. -

^^^ If the rumors are true and they are planning to expand into the large are occupied by the shopping center, I would hope they had something larger planned than a Zacspin or Premier Superman clone. Those things are both so narrow and compact that they could easily be fit elsewhere in the park without bothering to tear down the shopping center. Lol. -
^^^^ I disagree about GL relying on a gimmick. I think it's a great ride and plenty thrilling and forceful. Also, I think the Batman clones are stellar and no matter how old they are or how many times I've ridden them, I still think they are awesome and intense. I will say, I agree with you on S:UF. But we all have our opinions. I am among those who have never experienced this alleged rattle or roughness on Bixarro. This past summer I thought it was perfectly smooth, and pretty fun.

I don't see how the fact that there is another coaster somehwere else in the country with a similar or same layout, or the fact that a coaster once operated elsewhere makes it not a "quality" experience. Those rides are still thrilling, smooth, and invert you plenty of times. I just don't get how being a clone or hand-me-down means they don't fill the role of quality looper. I don't think that means that the park needs another looper. Anyway, my vote would be for the massive drop tower, and obviously I wouldn't complain about a Maverick/Cheetah-esque launcher.

Anybody read that bit on Screamscape the other day reporting rumors that SFOT is planning to tear down that vacant shopping center they own behind Batman, and expand the Gotham City area into a full-fledged DC Universe? I have had fantasies about them doing this for years! Leveling the shopping center, along with removing the bumper cars (which haven't operated since 2007) and Flashcrap, would open up quite a bit of space to play with. My mind is overflowing with ideas about how they could use this space. They could, of course use it for one big new Beemer or something, like a Wing Coaster. But I think it would be better used for a few smaller-scale rides. Maybe a Bane-themed Eurofighter (would be a good tie-in with the upcoming release of Dark Knight Rises), a few flats themed to other Justice League characters, and a splash-battle type ride with an Arkham Asylum theme? Or something like that. My imagination is probably running away far beyond the realm of reality. Lol. What the space would look like if they razed the shopping center and Flashback/bumper cars. -
The Hurricane model is interesting. It was originally built by S.D.C., until they went bankrupt in 1993 and sold the rights of the design to S&MC (founded by former S.D.C. employees, who continued to market the model as "Hurricane"), and also to Zamperla, who sold it as the "Windstorm". Also, in 1996, Premier built its own clone of the Hurrican/Windstorm design, and used their own new train design. This is the enclosed Runaway Mountain at SFOT. So this same coaster design has been built by four different firms. I have never been on one of the outdoor versions, but Runaway Mountain is the most insane enclosed family coaster I've been on. That thing is seriously intense and disorienting in the dark, and the near-vertical dive (or Death Drop as Cal1br3tto called it - I like that!) gets me every time. On a sidenote, Cal1br3tto, I wanted to let you know that I always enjoy reading your posts. They are always so eloquently worded, and you always have something nice to say.

^I would imagine that is because Apocalypse will require much more groundwork than S:UF. Apocalypse is a big coaster that is going into a spot where they had to tear down another big ride, and the surrounding water works, and clear the land. S:UF is a small linear ride that will sit on a slab of pavement that was previously occupied by a small coaster that was just sitting there on its own steel grid. One is like tearing out a swimming pool to build a new garage, and the other is like packing up a roll-away bed to park you bicycle. Lol.
