  1. No pics but saw it last Mon - its full up and was already running on test-runs, sadly none for visitors, I've asked...
  2. I've heard many bad things about this park beforehand but last Wed I had a great day. Moderate waits on the popular coasters like 20 mins for X2 and 15 mins for Tatsu. No wait at all for Vortex, Revolution, Riddlers Revenge, Scream, Colossus and Goliath - did all those 4-5 times. All coasters with the exception of Superman running 2 trains despite the little audience. Much better than Knotts the day before. Attendants very swift and friendly, except for X2 you could bring and store loose articles in the station areas - also no fuss about sunglasses onride as at Knotts.
  3. When I was there last Tue the skycabin went up with some park managers but was still closed for the public...
  4. @BarryH Agreed: I've noticed if there's no one at the entry-turnstile telling poeple to move they often don't - a chance for me to skip by... P.S.: Olympia Looping has 3 attendants when running 4 trains - launching every 30 seconds...
  5. In my travels to the US I've noticed that on most coasters there're 2-4 attendants plus one operator who must be screwed to his chair. In Germany we've mostly one operator/attendant - and the one we have is mostly WAY faster. I always wonder what the US attendants are always murking around the ride...
  6. Putting in a little list - expect PhotoTR when home: Vegas: Manhattan Express (ouch), Canyan Blaster (more ouch). Belmont Park: Giant Dipper (cool) Disneyland: Space Mountain (nice effects), Matterhorn Bobsleds (cool), Big Thunder (nice) Calif Adv: Screamin' (cool) Knotts: Goldrusher (once in the morning and a good ride, but then broke down), Silver Bullet (very smooth), Xcelerator (Yay!), Montezooma's Revenge (cool and short waits)
  7. LOL But 30+ years Schwarzkopf Looper running like clockwork...
  8. Was there yesterday. Nice experience: Short waits for a single rider like me and not so many foreign tourists blocking the rides like over in Disneyland. Ride-Operations for a US park very swift. Highlights: California Screamin and Tower of Terror.
  9. Was there today and was IMO a mixed bag. Best: Xcelerator and Montezooma's Revenge: Moderate (Xcelerator) to Short waits. So-So: Silver-Bullet: Only one train- that was bad! Bad: Goldrusher: Loooong line and mostly malfunctioning. Sad to say: Next to Goldrusher also the Giant-Flume was mostly down- Euro-Engineering is more reliaable...
  10. As a small kid I've also seen a "Drachenlooping" ("Dragonloop") which was a complete cicular loop with the train inside - I was to....ahem....scared to ride it but surely would be cool today.... What I mostly liked about the Katapult that it could go backwards. Once they had a bakcward train at Heide-Parks BigLoop Vekoma MK-1200 - so cool - but only for one season. Parks should starting putting trains backwards on the track.... I've once seen pics form the Edmonton Mall Mindbender with a backwards mounted front-car at the end of the train - hope to ride it one day.
  11. Also none left on the german carnival circuit - I so loved them. As far as I can remember one once stuck upside down and poeple had to be freed by the fire department - after that they disappeared....
  12. Well those who are around the longest.... 1) Nessie, Hansapark, Schwarzkopf Loopingracer 2) BigLoop, Heidepark, Vekoma MK-1200 (double loop, double corkscrew) 3) Olympia Looping, Carnival, Schwarzkopf 5x Looper 4) Katapult, Carnival, Schwarzkopf Katapult - why are these gone??? Loved the 3x forward, 3x backwards loop!
  13. Nessie - Schwarzkopf Loopingracer at Hansapark!
  14. Fluch von Novgorod (Curse of Novgorod) - magnetic launch plus 97 degree Gerstelauer tower - plus: Love the theming Heartline Roll - was a great day as park was quite empty - it was possible to stay seated inside the Fluch.... Huss Ranger here as Fliegender Hai (Flying Shark) - this gem can stop at any angle and rotate in slow motion - plus: only lapbars! New famliy coaster Schlange von Midgaard (The Midgaard Serpent) - nice theming - by Gerstelauer Note the nicely done train - the breaking-blades indicate that this might be a son of Nessie... Gerstelauer mousing - her as Crazy Mine Assorted rides - El Sol (Highflyer) - Spanish Bell - Montezooma's Revenge (Droptower) Nessie, Schwarzkopf Loopingracer Shoulderfree looper - as it always should be... This one is quite unique in germany: Wellenflieger (Waveflyer)
  15. Can't really decide.... Intamin for more inversions....B&M for smoother rides....Maurer-Söhne for X-Car Skywheel....and Gerstelauer for giving us the 97 degree drop.
  16. G-Force: Maurer-Söhne is my current fav coaster manufacturer. Love the trains and the X-Car series just rocks - including the hilarious Skywheel
  17. I still quite like the Vekoma MK-1200 and Invertigo....
  18. I've rode one Zyklon ZL way back in Denmark while on vacation - BAD! I think they added the loop shortly after Schwarzkopf started putting out coaster after coaster - but obviously they had no Werner Stengel to calculate it correctly....
  19. Huss Giant Frisbee....COOOOOOOL.....
  20. In germany its Desert Race at Heide-Park - an Intarmin hydraulic launch coaster - but except for start there's nothing much: no Top-Hat - no Inversions....
  21. Colossos - Heide Park, the first camelbacks you've over -1 G. Alpina-Bahn - carnival circuit in germany, the first is parabolic hill so you've +/- 0G - very nice
  22. They're not that common in Europe - so far only two: Invertigo - Sommerland Syd, Denmark Boomerang - Vienna Prater, Austria If everything turns out right I'll add the one at Knotts in three weeks... I found the Invertigo as beeing smoother than the SLCs.
  23. Will be new for me to have construction while visisting the park. In Europe the parks close for the winter and do their construction then as its considered a major inconvienience to visitors....
  24. Legoland in Denmark is a nicely themed park but IMHO lost some of its appeal after Lego sold the amusement parks to Madame Tussauds group. Thats also true for lower-saxonias Heide-Park - you see that the old owners were kind of enthusiasts, whereby Madame Tussauds is more geared to squeeze money. General Legoland Denmark also features kiddie and family rides only. If you go up there by car on the Freeway 7 you can drop into Sommerland Syd right behind the german-danish border - mostly also a kiddie-park, but one with a Vekoma Invertigo - mostly queues on that one are so short they only roll it once every 15 minutes - but you can ride it every time. Hansapark is still family owned and therefore has IMO a nice feel to it.
  25. Nessie (Schwarzkopf Loopingracer) at Hansapark
