  1. Looks really nice! It's a cool angle even though Intamin track is a huge pain to draw thanks to all its holes which make all 3 or 4 sides of it visible.... but, may I best you Tomes? I've of course put close to 10 hours or so getting it to this point, and it's close to 2 feet long, so the comparison isn't really fair, but haha, still. Cheetah Hunt will be done in watercolor, with a line wash on the track and certain details.
  2. The thing is, the last time I tried that I had a jealous guy try to fight me over it the next day. Plus I found out she's not interested in me. Eh, shit like that happens. I've had the same happen say... 6 or 7 times all in a row? Or some variation of it at least.. Though I'm generally a terrible example for anything dealing with relationships, on the rare occasion that I do have some luck.. I've just sorta picked up on friendliness and taken advantage of it before the dreaded friendzone comes upon me... If you try and wait for something to happen by being nice, yeah, friendzone 99% of the time. And even if she isn't interested, it was fun while it lasted! And its not so bad to become friends after, if you haven't dated. And in regards to Valentines Day, terrible holiday! Mainly because it serves no purpose but to remind me I'm hopelessly single...
  3. 1965 - Some Old Stuff So I figured you guys like overviews? You can see the slimming of the kiddie area. More expansion will likely come to that side much later. The previous layout has been completely overridden. Anybody remember when Chase Thru the Clouds station came out almost to where the Rotor begins? And when Rotor was an ancient barnstormer with complex steel framework? The midway was completely stripped and paved over. New landscaping features reduce the clutter and put more emphasis on the architecture of the two wooden coasters. Bet you don't remember Loop-de-Loop. The parks first coaster, a handcrafted side friction roller coaster. It sat on the same site as Cyclone. And maybe you know the old Art Deco Racer station? How about Caverns? And I doubt anyone remembers Parachute Drop.. Here's a really old overview! Year one. ANCIENT photo! Early advertisement. Postcard from 1926. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yupp. It's been a LOT of work making this park. But the progression shows for sure. And I'll get to all the comments next update or so, this is just to tide you over into my new transition. I'll probably be reminiscing some more..
  4. Take the forever alone option. ;D But if you MUST get with a girl, you can't hesitate, you just gotta go for it, or they're gone.
  5. In class browsing a TPR trip report of Kings Dominion. A trash can clearly showing 'Kings Dominion' plastered across it comes up. The person I'm sitting next to goes 'is that Busch Gardens? I love that park!' He then went on to explain that they took out BBW because it was too unsafe. And that Griffon goes beyond vertical and such typical GP things.. I casually disproved him and went to my next class, hoping the conversation would never come up again!
  6. I LOVE that Skream track you posted no_brain_er! And if you hear somebody say they love Skrillex, they don't know dubstep... Skrillex killed dubstep essentially. Now all we have is really un-rhythmic noise that distorts sound to the point that it sounds cool in your ear for the fact you've never heard that sound before. But real dubstep is meant to be rhythmic, laid back, and an extension on techno that's less dance oriented and more listen oriented.
  7. I would also like to add Daft Punk to the list for electronic music with talent. Pioneers of a sound which has been stolen by soo many musicians over the years. They actually do use real instruments (heck, they scored an entire movie soundtrack, orchestra and all!) They say that all metal riffs come from Black Sabbath, well pretty much every pop riff comes from Daft Punk! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdLhbuqEfD0&feature=related
  8. Talentless? No. Annoying? At times, yes. I've attempted to make 'electronic' music. It turns out terrible. But learn the software and pretty much anyone can write dubstep... Which is why there's an endless amount of terrible artists. The ones with the money end up making it, not the talented ones. Though there is scores of terrible dubstep, there's also some fantastic bands out there for electronic music. Pendulum may perhaps be the best example.. Not using a dried up formula of 'dropping the bass.'
  9. That's quite a juxtaposition of the old and the new! I hope you can bring in some more 'old'! I'm praying for a secondhand paratrooper.
  10. Thanks! I plan on it haha. I'm a perfectionist. I always see flaws in my work. Thanks! Well I hope this update does it! In the case of the title... it has nothing at all to do with the actual Twilight that we all know and hate! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1965 - A Twilight Romance Twilight brings out a totally different atmosphere at the park. The afternoon rush has quelled and those who are willing to empty their energy reserves to stay throughout the night are rewarded with a fantastic new view on the park. Nothing beats a sunset ride on Racer. The fountain glows beautifully at night. Kids never seem to run out of energy... There's a strange aura at sundown that makes couples extra affectionate... Thunder Bobs couldn't be happier to be out of a cold warehouse and thrilling happy people. Until next time... ---------------------------------------------- Still a better love story than Twilight.
  11. Moral of the story? Have your self a grand old time in high school... just don't get anyone pregnant... and you're fine! You can still care about a person without being in a relationship. And they can still be able to see that without necessarily wanting one either. Just watch for the crazy ones that will attach to you like a parasite...
  12. 1965 - Color, color, and more color! Nature vs. Society. Can both sides win? You know it's good if they have fancy bathrooms. Seriously, nicest bathrooms I've ever seen! Even this small staggering can really throw off your perspective of who's in the lead! Dancing may not be as popular as it once was, but people will still gather to watch the local acts put on a good show! (The Beatles played here when they first came overseas. Amazing to see how huge they've gotten!) The Snack Bar hasn't changed a bit! Though its surrounding have completely changed. Lurking in the trees... Hmm... maybe they should have used more colors? Racer's been temporarily stripped of its letters.. Something to do with too much weight bearing on the roof? 'Slimmer' ones will be added ASAP. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'd like to take a moment and thank those who've stood by the park. You may not always comment, but I know there's plenty who look. I'd hope you comment as much as you can, but that's not what I'm here for... Basically, no park can be great without a community. I'm a part of a great community, and I'd like to say thanks for helping to page 17, and here's to 50 more! With time, things will improve, and hopefully so will approval, notoriety, and input. I'm thrilled with the feedback I've gotten on this park, and hope you all enjoy it into the coming decades!
  13. Really glad you're bringing this over here! I took the opportunity to re-remember my park history! I love learning about that type of stuff, and it's really interesting to me when people can incorporate things like that into their storylines.
  14. That is precisely the drawing style I wish I could achieve! I'm in search of a coaster to paint in the medium of watercolor. I've searched long and hard, and can't seem to find that perfect shot... Anybody have any good pics/rides they'd like to see portrayed in watercolor?
  15. There's no jaw underneath his beard... only another fist.
  16. 1965 - Opening Day!! We're so lucky to welcome you back for another season at East Side Lagoon. It's not so often that a park has the luck that this one has. With any luck, this park can hold on for decades to come! The new planters are shining with life. Those little saplings will hopefully grow to one day fill the area with shade. Still gathering a line, this gorgeous station still brings them in. Can't forget about the ferris wheel! Year two and hopefully people start to accept it in the skyline. Besides the pool, people take a trek up the hill to get their snacks and souvenirs. Racer and toilets. Nothing more to add! The centerpiece of the new layout. As trees begin to fill in this area will be king of serenity. Massive crowds for Captain's Journey! Should give the park a little hint about family needs.. We're proud of our Little Dipper. Couldn't me more thankful that this ride wasn't scrapped. PS. Polls in the region have ranked this ride AND Racer consistently better than all of Kennywood's respective coasters!
  17. 1965 - Getting Close We're getting ever closer to opening day, and with only a few things left to do, the park is shining gorgeously! The full pallet of colors show through nearly everywhere. Cyclone will be sporting brown supports this year to give contrast from the other three wood coasters which all have white supports. This is a remnant from the 'Pleasure Park' era when white made the park feel 'perfect' against the rust colored steel mills all over the region. Kudos to the landscapers who worked tirelessly to plant hundreds of trees and bushes. Racer still retains its stronghold, only it's been set back from the path a bit so it isn't so overwhelming. The unofficial kiddieland has been shrunk to size and given a new addition. Captain's Journey is a standard little ride themed to a journey on the seven seas. The Carousel building has been given a new roof and color scheme. Thunder Bobs makes its triumphant return after spending a couple years in storage. Now Round-Up and Roll-O-Plane sit in storage. The Middle-Eastern Cafe is still being renovated. This gorgeous fountain is at the center of the new changes.
  18. Score one for desecrating rap music. Finished a metal cover of 'Look At Me Now' tonight with my band. Kicks some ass.
  19. ^ I can have that same rant right now. My friend is really ticking me off. Not so much as gloating, but not realizing how inflated their ego is, and instead going about their lives as if they aren't causing problems... If you steal my girl, at least have the sensitivity to not go on about it every time I see you, and tweet to her 5 times a day, or make out with each other when I'm in the room... It's that type of jerk that isn't up front about it that makes you even MORE of a jerk... And what can I do about it? Nothing. Any words said about it will cause the blame to go on me since apparently being up front when a person wrongs you is worse than cowering away from the problem..
  20. Haha, thanks for clearing that up... After all, this is the guy I've taken with me to parks for years, and such a GP-ish comment really didn't seem fitting! And to contribute to the Skyrush discussing, I'm really wondering what the forces are gonna feel like on that first drop. Its bending is quite peculiar... I'm curious as to how it'll stack up against some of the great first drops out there.
  21. Skyrush keeps looking better! That final piece really shows how good it's gonna look in the skyline. And an odd question... My friends insists that the park has removed sooperdooperlooper. I know this is not true... but he says he was just at the park, and the entire ride was gone. Is there ANY truth behind this? Or is it just another ridiculous GP comment?
  22. Quite interesting results... It seems there's still a handful of those top 10 rides in relatively close travelling distance that I'm seriously gonna have to check out soon. It's interesting to me the 4, 5, and 6 positions. They all seem to be fairly evenly matched rides. I wonder what the long term is gonna show for those rides... I'm anticipating some position changes in these rides in particular. Maybe some more love for Ravine Flyer II! Underrated IMO despite being in the top 10.. I love seeing such an old ride up in the top 10 (Phoenix). It makes me wonder what other old rides would be up there had they not been torn down or fallen victim to shotty maintenance and old age.
  23. ^ Completely nailed it, cause Craig's the man! < Had to look up a word I forgot that was driving me crazy, but ended up here, posting, instead of going back to sleep. v Is a lesser version of their sibling.
