  1. I am a bit surprised with how many overrated lists Verbolten is getting. Honestly, Verbolten was actually my favorite new ride of 2012 (although I haven't ridden Skyrush yet). It is not the most thrilling ride, but it has plenty of unique and thrilling elements, a nice theming package, and some great views from the outside area. And, since all those things are all it ever wanted to do, I don't see why so many people think it is overrated. If you ride it expecting the next supercoaster, you will be disappointed. However, if you expect an all-around great family ride, you will have a good time.
  2. Heck, I would like the design way better if they just removed all launches except for the first, and just added a stretch of multiple bunny hops to the brakes instead of the top hat.
  3. RMC: Do you plan on trying a vertical loop at any time in the near future?
  4. I usually give a sadistic laugh when an idiot does something to cause harm to himslelf, but when someone else has to suffer just out of stupidity, I just cannot stand it.
  5. Company question for GCI: Why do GCI's almost never have straight, steeper drops throughout the course? (Similar questions may have been asked already)
  6. The evolution of Ghostrider: Opening: Awesome Early 2000's: Still awesome, but a bit rough Mid 2000's: Still good overall, but no longer top ten material Late 2000's: Very rough, but still rideable Now: Unrideable. Worse than Mean Streak.
  7. This looping star has been to quite a few places, before ending up in Botswana. rcdb.com/9848.htm
  8. Also, to cap my point from earlier, I have another reason as to why Full Throttle dissapoints many people, including myself. It is the multiple launch gimmick. On just about every other double or triple-launcher built so far, having multiple launches is not just treated as a marketing gimmick. They are also used to make for a longer ride than a single launch could muster. However, Full Throttle has a ride length that could easily be covered in a single launch. The second launch is somewhat of a gimmick, and the third is only needed for a single hill. By comparison, it is a bit more acceptable that single launch coasters, like Xcelerator, can be more gimmicky, but coasters with multiple launches seem to have somewhat of a purpose, that being long rides. Full Throttle will not a be a bad ride. In fact, I could even give some arguments as to why it could be the best ride in the park. But, that does not hide the dissapointment from the community, hoping for a "real" multi launch coaster.
  9. Here is my explanation as to why Full Throttle is so dissapointing: If it were announced at a smaller park like Michigan's Adventure, Valleyfair, or CGA everyone would probably be excited about it. Those parks do not have the major budgets larger parks do. SFMM, however, is not a small park. It is the park with the most coasters in the world. So, they clearly have the budget to build large rides, but they do not. They go for the cheapest possible design that can still provide enough gimmicks. It is because SFMM's GP does not care. If Cedar Point did this, it probably would not be as popular, as the Cedar Point GP are generally a bit more demanding.
  10. I did not really notice the Wild Eagle restraints when I was on the ride, but once I hit the brakes, I instantly wanted to get off. I thought sitting on the block with those restraints was worse than sitting in the block of a flying coaster. B&M is good at a lot of things, but block brake comfort is not one of them. Still, I found Wild Eagle to be my most overrated new ride. It is a slight step up from B&M's typical intensity level, but it still comes nowhere close to contesting their older designs.
  11. If Knott's really wanted a giga coaster, they would figure it out. End of story.
  12. ^One ride being more thrilling than another and one ride being a better addition to the park than another can be two completely separate things.
  13. Why this is a good addition: -It will help with theme and atmosphere in the park -It will bring family rides to an area mostly comprised of thrill rides Why this is not a good addition: -The park could use more high-capacity rides -Two nearby parks already have similar coasters Overall, my feelings about this move are very mixed. Although the overall combination of the three rides is a far better addition than Full Throttle, many of the current family rides can get some pretty long waits. (Sidewiner often has the longest wait in the park). More low capacity family rides probably will not help, if they increase attendance enough to increase the waits on other rides. This will offter new options for families, but the coaster will probably have fairly long waits, while I could easily ride something similar at many nearby parks. But, the atmosphere really works. I was hoping for a junior woodie, as it would seem to go better with the boardwalk theme, but this fits the theme nice enough as it is.
  14. ^Was the dust sawdust? On Saturday, they were working on dead man's turn, and if you walked in that narrow pathway beside Skyflyer, there was just enough of a breeze so that you could see sawdust land on you.
  15. I would dare anyone on this forum to say three bad things about any one Western European park, except for a few UK parks, and some of the current/former Walibi parks. When even tiny parks in Europe are able to build major attractions while still having charm, a formula that is almost unheard of in even America's largest of parks, you have yourself a continent that is a dream for theme park nerds.
  16. Looks like Amanda Thompson has just earned the title as the "Ice Queen" of Europe.
  17. Maybe, if this is really the name, it could be a junior woodie? Something like Wooden Warrior?
  18. It should be basic knowledge that if you double stack every single train for an hour when running three trains, you have achieved very little to no extra people over running two trains. Some corporate parks handle this well, while other parks seem to have no clue. Unfortunately, it seems that most of the parks in the latter category happen to be Six Flags parks. On the opposite extreme, running three trains can significantly improve a ride's capacity, and is best done on rides with double stations. *Hint* *Hint*
  19. Thinking optimistically, the introduction of RCT in other forms may actually be good news. As in, the series is clearly popular enough to be revived. There portable releases might be Atari's test to see if there is still enough popularity to justify a fourth PC game. I would die for an RCT game with a No Linits importer, but that may just be wishful thinking.
  20. ^^Although, I have heard many past stories of Fuji Q closing rides for no reason. Could Fuji Q actually be getting better?!
  21. This is the reason why, IF California were not in such desparate need for an airitme machine, I would rather not see a giga at Knott's. Because, like many other coasters, they would probably build it over the ghost town, as well as add an ugly A$$ color scheme to it. I would take a full NTAG of Ghostrider over a giga any day, but, in practice, that is unlikely to happen.
  22. Ghostrider is about 3 minutes long. However, It usually stacks with 2 trains anyway, so three trains would not do much. Although the crew is usually slow, they do have their good days. Yet, even on the better days, I have never seen it run three trains. This is yet another reason why Ghostrider should get Timberliners. Those seatbelts really slow everything down. If this happened, they could efficiently run three trains. Or, I would even be happy enough to see them run two without stacking, which is not that common of an occurance.
  23. ^^I would say that is true for Asia. However, that does not seem to be true for US and Europe parks. Maybe the Asian parks are requesting more intense rides?
  24. ^Also, if you go, remember, the back seat of Woodstock's Express is a must. I got more airtime on this than most adult wood coasters.
  25. -The Vekoma flyers- It seems that everyone hates these things. I do not. On my visit, Firehawk was running very smooth, comparable to a B&M. Nighthawk, although it rattles quite is bit in the corkscrews, I also found to be enjoyable overall. How some people think these are among of the worst designs in the world, worse than SLC's, is beyond me. -GIB's- I have never gotten any major headbanging on these, and, even my worst of rides were helped by the heavily padded restraints. On many rides, I have even been able to raise my hands not not hit my head. -Mantis- Actually my favorite standup. It was running quite rough in 2009, but the roughness seemed to have gone away by 2011. On a similar note, Dominator's rattle seemed to have inexplicably dissappeared by this summer, as it was running fairly rough last summer.
