  1. The only coasters that I think should not be RMCed are pre-1970's wood coasters and prefabs. That is it. And, I completely disagree with the people who are saying the Beast should not be RMCed. I do not see how a coaster built in 1979 is considered to be that historic or worth preserving. While it may have broken records in its time, I would not say that was overly unique in any aspect other than its insanely long length. RMC could easily make one of the best coasters in the world with this, so why past up that chance just because this now dated coaster once broke a few records?
  2. ^No. Staples are too high class for Six Flags. They will use duct tape.
  3. I rode Riddler last summer, and it was running fairly well. This was a huge step up from when I rode in 2012, then it was very rough in the back row. However, neither time was as good as when I rode Mantis in 2011. When I rode Mantis that year, it was running very well. It seemed very fast, and smooth. My ride on Mantis in 2009 was quite rough, but my ride in 2011 was not only the best ride I ever had on Mantis, but the best I ever had on any standup ever. So, across the board, I have found rides on both standups to vary quite a bit. However, Mantis will win out as the better coaster when it gets the new trains.
  4. I was planning on getting this credit the next time I stop by the South, but I think I will be too busy at the Gay Atheists for Abortion convention.
  5. I would really hate to have to go through a Christian theme park in the south to get a credit.
  6. Worst: 1. S:EFK A long stretch that moves very slowly and is very claustrophobic and dirty. Also, the loading area has bent rows, so being assigned a certain row can mean a much longer wait time. (Yes, they do assign rows, and yes, they do screw the process up that badly) The only saving grace is the -air conditioning. 2. Space Mountain (DLR) The indoor queue is okay, but this only makes up about ten minutes of the waiting. The rest is a plain, endless pattern of switchbacks on top of a large roof with absolutely nothing to look at. 3. H:RRR Universal has so many awesomely themed queues. So, what happened here? This one is just a bunch of switchbacks under a roof. The only things you can really watch are the one small section of the coaster you can see, or the stupid video they have on the TV's that they play on an endless loop. 4. Xcelerator/Gold Striker Almost no shade. That is all I have to say. 5. New York, New York Located in a Vegas casino. I hate casinos. And Las Vegas in general. This ride is one of my favorite things about Vegas (which is very sad) Best: (0. Dragons before the addition of Potter) 1. Forbidden Journey 2. USO Mummy 3. Indy 4. Manta (SWO) 5. Thunder Mountain (DLR)
  7. If LR costed only $8 million, then I say clone it. Build one in every park, large or small. I see no reason why this would not be a great return on investment no matter where.
  8. Oh, Vekoma. You would think that building a 4-seater inverted coaster with LIM's would be a simple task these days, but I guess not.
  9. CA: Gold Striker NV: El Loco OH: Maverick PA: Phoenix NJ: El Toro VA: I305 NC: Carolina Cobra SC: Afterburn TN: Thunderhead FL: Dragons (Fire)
  10. I am divided over which Disney resort is better, because Florida has far more content, but CA has the edge of nogtalgia with being the original Disney park, not to mention how much easier it is to hop parks in CA. But, for me the competition ends there. Central Florida wins every other comparison by far. USF blows USH out of the water. SWSD is good, but it is out of the way from the other SoCal parks, while SWO is more easily accessed if you are visiting for the parks. I love Knott's, but it is now very corpratized and its star attraction breakfast down on a regular basis; BGT is an overall better park. And Magic Mountain, well...
  11. -All operating coasters over 300 ft in the US -All Florida B&M's -All Disney, Busch/Seaworld, and Universal parks in the US -All Cedar Fair parks in the US east of the Mississippi -All operating TOGO coasters in the US (why?) -All opertaing Invertigo cones in the US (one in two different locations) -All operating 1st gen freefalls in the US -All Intamin prefabs in the US -All Intamin mega-lites in the US
  12. I disagree with the talk of HRRR being a failure. I do think that the music system was a waste, but the overall ride actually fits the park fairly well. The park lacked a big coaster, so they put one in that is thrilling without inversions. However, I do know that it had issues upon opening, and they did overspend on the $45 million price tag. Also, it is probably the least themed attraction in the park. It can be rough, but it is actually one of the most airtime-filled coasters I have ever ridden. I actually got more air on it than on any B&M or Morgan hyper (excluding Phantom) If they had ditched the music system and added some queue theming, HRRR probably would have been a success. I would not call it a "failure from day one" when compared to other coasters that are far worse and had more problems like Stealth, The Bat, Orphan Rocker, SoB, or even to a lesser extent, X.
  13. IOA. The rival is probably the other universal park right across the way. I can buy one ticket for both, therefore I win. Okay, that may have been cheating a bit. So; I guess the main rivals are all other Orlando parks. Well, the theming may not be on Epcot levels, nor is the coaster selection as good as BGT, but it is great to have both elements in one park. Next, Disneyland>Magic Kingdom BGW> BGT Kennywood>Knott's (I group these two together because they are both old, small parks that have been corporatized over the years, adding many big rides. I prefer Kennywood's ride selection, and also I think they integrate the new stuff in well with the old stuff, which Knott's does not do as well. Both parks could improve their operations, though) Kings Dominion>Carowinds (But I still love both parks)
  14. It will have too much airtime. All moments of airtime will need to be replaced by inversions. In all seriousness, I do think it is interesting how the last coaster was marketed more toward a younger crowd, while TC has had no YOLO references and things like the Vacation tie in. It seems like this time they are trying to market more toward an older crowd than last time. I could see how this makes some sense, considering that this is the rebirth of an older ride.
  15. ^EVERY standup would be better as a sit down coaster. This is a fact.
  16. Never anything that I cannot fit into cargo shorts. I need only my wallet, phone, and keys. If I need a camera, I hold it in a pouch that I can wear around my neck to clip to my belt. If I have especially deep/ extra pockets, I may fit a water bottle and sunscreen in them. I NEVER bring in bags.
  17. The drab colors fit the Fuji-Q theme really well.
  18. ^^Sorry about that. I was referring to coasters that had the seatbelts added on after installation, like YOLO or Goliath.
  19. Pretty much all CNL parks They basically have complete control over the theme park markets in huge economies like Seattle and Denver, yet they never expand their parks.
  20. What? There is only one floorless coaster that does not have a vertical loop. (Hydra) How? Just how?
  21. ^Right. If the seatbelts are made for size, my only question is of why they would not try another technique, like a seatbelt that clips on to the lap bar. Some of the older premier coasters have this. This sounds like it would be easier to check, and would still measure if it could lower far enough. I guess the issue is probably more with waste size itself than lowering the lap bar.
  22. I noticed many similarities between Goliath's drop and [the second drop of] Phantom's Revenge. Both provide a constant angle on the largest drops, leading to a disappointingly low amount of airtime. However, Phantom had a good shot of airtime at the top going in to the second drop, great views, and excellent airtime throughout the rest of the ride. None of these can be said about Goliath. Overall, staying at the same slope just does not thrill me that much, even on 90 degree slopes. Dive machines do not do it for me in the front row; even on these I prefer the back because I find being whipped over the drop to be more thrilling than being slowly lowered over and dropped at a constant angle.
  23. The first drop on half pipe waterslides always gets to me. In fact, these things make me more nervous than most drop towers.
  24. At least she got one part right.
  25. If New York, New York removed the shoulder pads, then I think that it would actually be pretty awesome. I actually love the layout, as it is a great mix of a hyper and looping coaster. It is a shame that it is painful. I wonder why it even has the shoulder pads in the first place; many other coasters with Premier trains operate just fine with the lap component only.
