Why don't you call the park, and ask about their policy on opening rides in the cold? Some parks will only open coasters if it gets above a certain temperature, and each park is different. I went to SFGAd and Hersheypark two days in a row, and it was in the mid-30s both days. Kingda Ka and GAd's B&Ms were open, but Storm Runner and Great Bear were closed.

I did NOT have a good time at Hershey. Had it been about 10 degrees warmer, and more coasters were open, I probably would have liked it. But for now... nope! Not a Hersheypark fan! -

Wow... that site is... ghetto. I drove by the exit for Darien Lake this weekend, and this is what I saw: That used to say "Six Flags Darien Lake"... now it's just a blue square! -

OK, so since this was my first trip to the park, here are my thoughts. The Golden Kingdom section and Wiggles World were really nice, but the rest of the park looked kind of dumpy. Some of the midways need a good repaving and maybe some flowers and trees. I had a really good time at the park, and really enjoyed many of their coasters. However, I can see how it could get annoying when crowded. Here's what I thought about the coasters: GASM - I was expecting pain from this ride, but received none. I think I have been well-trained in defensive Arrow riding from growing up with Viper at SFDL. Nitro - I thought Nitro was AWESOME. It was my first B&M hyper, and I really liked it, especially the bunny hops at the end. The first time we rode, they took me by surprise. El Toro - Yeah... hi. El Toro kicks butt. More parks need to get Intamin woodies. Medusa - The only other floorless I have ridden was Hydra. Medusa is pretty fun, and not at all vibraty like Hydra. Skull Mountain - I didn't know anything about this ride before I rode it, except for the fact that it is indoors. HOLY HECK the airtime on the first drop caught me by surprise! Rolling Thunder - Rolling dumpster.. yeah. It's a coaster. B:TR - This was my first B:TR. B&M inverts are definitely my favorite "coaster format". I didn't B:TRs had two vertical loops! Definitely a fun and forceful ride. S:UF - Yawn. This ride is very short and weird. The pretzel loop is interesting, but then the ride just kind of wanders around. At the brake run, I was like, is this the MCBR?? Wait, that was the whole ride? Runaway Mine Train - it's a mine train.. wooo Kingda Ka - Hmm, what to say about this one? The launch is great, then it's VIBRATE VIBRATE VIBRATE up the tower... ouch my brains. The view from the top is spectacular, but then it's VIBRATE VIBRATE VIBRATE back down the tower. I would probably not wait more than 15 minutes to ride this again. If it's a walk-on, sure, why not. It's just nothing special IMO, which is a shame because it's the "Tallest, fastest roller coaster in the world". -

^That was a great post. And you're totally right. It's different looking at the park from a standpoint of only caring about thrill rides, versus having a family and trying to entertain them. Heck, my parents took me to Canada's Wonderland every year from when I was about three years old, to about fifteen. I loved it then, and I still love it now. And the Toronto Zoo totally rocks too. Heck, I love Toronto in general. I always say... if it was in the US, I would so move there! -
I'm the second cousin of Gary Buck, who was some country producer. I think he worked with Shania Twain or something. He's dead now.

2006 Park Attendance Figures
niiicolaaah replied to PKIDelirium's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I still don't understand why Canada's Wonderland pulls more visitors than Cedar Point. Is it just because of the population base? Cedar Point is always building big new rides and advertising like crazy. I see more commercials for Cedar Point (4 hours away) than for Canada's Wonderland (90 minutes away). Canada's Wonderland just seems to sit back and do nothing. -

Eh, I forgot to post pics from last weekend. Went up to Toronto with some friends. I'm too lazy to post a full PTR! Once again I bid farewell to my favorite city... Hopefully I'll get back there this summer! Time for my favorite drink, the amaretto sour! We broke the bed. Now for some Amarula, which is pretty much the most delicious thing ever Toronto is so pretty... Free Quaran? I think I'll pass We'll start off with a little sample of ice wine with brandy. Pretty tasty! I think we're pretty well stocked for the night. -
