Plus as dippingdotsguy8 points out, that is already a congested corner and if they put a entrance in there it would probably get even worse for traffic their on busy days. To clarify, I'm not saying they won't ever put one there. I'm saying they definitely wouldn't have when there were also two picnics areas in that corner. -

Again, dude, you're giving them way too much credit. That's not at all why the entrance is where it is. If that "scheme" applies to anything, it's having the two big stores up at the entrance so people can pick up a souvenir on the way out. So what is the reason then? It seems pointless not to have an entrance there if that is not the reason. Because that's where the water park was when it was built. Even when the water park expanded in 2009 to the other side of the Imax Theater, they wouldn't have built a new entrance. That area contained the entrances for both the lower section of the Dining Patio and the Imax Patio for group meals. The area probably would have been horribly congested if the entrance was there. The first year that they could have pulled it off was last summer, at which point they were probably still finalizing the plans for this most recent expansion. Besides, isn't that the corner where all of you are so upset about the congestion anyway? You all seem to be experts on traffic flow, but then can't think of a logical reason for having the water park entrance not in the middle of a tight pathway, surrounded by two group meal areas. Maybe there will be a new entrance there eventually, but there's really no reason that they should have moved it before. -

Kings Island opening day 2015
dippindotsguy8 replied to thrillrider's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Can't say for sure, as I've never operated one of these. I wouldn't be surprised if it's because they don't want people to get hurt when exiting the gliders at the end of a cycle, since some are still moving. The reason for the kiddie belts would be so people aren't trying to get off until an op is there holding the glider steady. -

When I went last summer, we were able to go where we wanted. I can't remember if there was an employee assigning rows or not, but usually at KI they were friendly enough to let us request a row if polite. That said, we didn't ask for the front, so I'm not sure how strict they are. -

If I remember correctly, doesn't Excalibur close before ValleyScare every year? I don't think it means anything. Yeah, it always closes before haunt. Thunder Canyon's probably also closing then, if not earlier. -

People always moan "overpriced" when anything goes up. The thing is, if it did actually have an effect on attendance, they probably wouldn't still be raising it each year. Factor in the big slide tower that's just been built, and I think the raise is probably justified. Also, I can't remember the last time I ever paid the walk-up gate price at any park. Buying online or with coupons from random stores is always substantially less expensive. Plus season passes are still very reasonable. No. -
That ride had a number of issues over the years, and eventually ended up having an extremely low capacity. It also looked somewhat hideous compared to what it was replaced with. Since Ouimet came on board with Cedar Fair, there's been a greater effort to expand the family-oriented offerings at the park. Replacing Plunge with two flat rides and a family coaster made the area look much nicer and changed out a low-appeal attraction with an area most people can appreciate. I enjoyed the two or three rides I had on Plunge, but the wait times were horrendous, and it just wasn't a great fit for the park. I would guess lack of space/lack of desire to use more space. Yes, it is the last one in the country. It's a great ride that I hope stays as long as possible!

Sounds like the ballroom is finally gone, judging by it's location "In the southwest corner". I'm excited to see how this turns out! Though I am a little disappointed that all the remaining space for the actual park is being eaten up by random things (american girl store, this, whatever's going in above the arcade, etc)

Yeah I don't want them to sell/auction it off. It ought to be kept intact somewhere, whether that's a museum or on display in the park. -

My vote also goes to S&S freespin for what I'd love to see at the park. It's something relatively unique that would be a hit with everybody, and use up minimal space. It'd fit nicely near Chaos's old spot, actually. -

Those of us in the over 6' tall category find them uncomfortable at all times. I haven't been on lightning run, but I can say that every premiere I've ridden that has shin bars has been an excruciating (though usually worth it!) experience. At the end of the day, regardless of how "good" the other trains may be, this won't happen unless a significant amount of park guests have a problem with the current trains. It costs money to buy new trains, and I don't understand why you all would want VF's seemingly limited budget to go to that instead of to new attractions, or other infrastructure stuff that actually is a problem or an obstacle to growth. -
^That makes sense, so then the question it comes down to is whether liquidity of that cash is worth the possibility of one of your major attractions being down for weeks or months of the year. With Zoom, i can see why that doesn't make sense. But if I were a manager at SFMM, I'm not sure I would be comfortable with the possibility of having X2 down for nearly 6 months, or Goliath for who knows how long. Obviously you can't prepare for every possible situation, but if you know that the chain you use will take months to be manufactured, delivered, and installed, it may be worth the risk aversion. I'm not saying that's what they should do, because I don't know all the costs and what the rest of their financial situation is like. But I would have to be convinced that the odds of this happening are insanely low, and that the downsides to having extra parts on hand were high enough to outweigh the possibility of going through the bulk of the season without one of the star attractions.

It's divisive because it's stupid. The only people who ever complain about wild thing's trains are enthusiasts. Also, the ride's 2nd hill still provides a nice pop of sustained floater that still holds up well in 2015. -

Yeah. I mean I get the unfortunate placement of the buckle, but I can't think of a more comfortable train design than the millennium flyers. The RMC trains aren't bad, but they've got the shin bars which would be unnecessary on a GCI, and outside of that your other option is pretty much PTCs. Those are far worse. -

Yes, with the added comfort of deadly, crushing shin bars. Wild thing is just fine the way it is! And no, adding B&M trains would not "make the airtime better". In fact, as someone who's ridden a variety of B&M, morgan, and intamin hypers, I can tell you the morgans (wild thing included) give your body the most room to actually float between the seat and the lap bar. B&M's/Intamins are more open-air, for sure, but you're pinned to your seat the entire time. From what various news sources appear to have agreed upon, that incident had nothing to do with the trains....It was a problem with the brakes, which has been resolved. Given no incidents in the ten years before, or in the 8 years after, I'd say this isn't even an issue worth discussing as if it's an existing problem with the ride. http://archive.kare11.com/news/article/126163/0/Wild-Thing-reopens -
Cedar Fair Rankings

^Demon Drop is really the main reason I would go to Dorney (personally). I'm sure I'd enjoy the rest of the park, but the only thing that is actually making me want to travel there is Demon Drop. I loved it when I rode it at Cedar Point, and there's hardly any of them left operating.
