  1. I'm banking on some non-existent wait times this evening for my first time back here since late 2012. There's no way I could let a 65°F day in early August pass without making some sort of effort to finally swing in for a few laps on something. I heard through the grapevine that there's a new ride this year, so I look forward to being able to verify this for myself.
  2. I don't know that I'd put much stock in the April opening/"Major" US Park part of the article being literal (what are their criteria for "major" park anyway?). Those are throwaway details that you'll see many (most?) newspapers/news sources use just because. Think of it as concept art, only with words. The same article does go on to state So, it very well may open on April 2 smack dab in the middle of SFOT, but it also wouldn't surprise me if a Celebration City-sized park busts it out for Memorial Day weekend.
  3. Jose Abreu had a 21 game hit streak broken last night v. Minnesota. The remarkable thing about that is that only one game (an 0-3 against Felix Hernandez) separated a 19 game hit-streak from this most recent 21 game hit-streak.
  4. I recall reading an interview with either B or M several years back (years before Leviathan as well, IIRC) in which this topic was specifically addressed. The gist of it was that could build a 300 footer if a customer asked them to, and they could build a launcher if a customer asked them to. I don't think I've ever seen anything directly attributed to them saying they would never build those types of coasters- it strikes me as a coaster urban myth kind of thing that just took on a life of it's own after enough people posted it as fact. Similarly, I don't think I've ever seen anything from B&M about this whole concept that the Wing Coaster is only a test-bed of sorts for some upcoming 4D Coaster. It started around the time X-Raptor was announced and just kept on gaining steam every time someone parroted it. Meanwhile, we've had 7 more "test-beds" built in the few years since the first one in Gardaland, and nary a peep about a 4D Coaster. If it turns I missed something and there is something from B&M saying otherwise, disregard, of course.
  5. Lies. Everyone knows that they build purely to spite enthusiasts. It's not even about the money anymore; it hasn't been for years. I forget whether it was Walter or Claude, but one of them has an Olympic-sized indoor pool that is filled entirely with coaster enthusiast' tears.
  6. 1,000 lashes or 1 year's worth of front of the line passes to the nearest Eurofighter, Volare, or Superman Ultimate Flight that must all be redeemed within 1 month of issuance. A Probation Officer will be assigned to monitor and verify this.
  7. lol Good. One less idiot in line in front of me. Please allow me to apologize on this person's behalf for not being fluent in (or obsessed with) the all important field of roller coasters.
  8. They can even have a soundtrack consisting entirely of one song, forever stuck on repeat.
  9. SFNE already has two boomrang coasters. Why would they need a third? Good things come in threes.
  10. I'd love to see RMC take a shot at a wooden boomerang style coaster for SFNE. It would greatly compliment the current lineup, with the bonus of being a "World's First".
  11. That would be nice, especially with Raging Bull only a short walk away. I've always kind of thought that if B&M had designed the course of Raging Bull to go right back to the station after that drop and the turnaround (only because it would be necessary), I'd still wait in line for it just the same.
  12. I'd be very surprised to see the name recycled. It didn't batter it's riders like did, but it's gone because it had reliability issues. Even if it didn't, I imagine they would want to establish a clear distinction between a project of this size and a ride that was just ripped out of the park.
  13. I've come to appreciate viral marketing like this purely because it's hilarious to watch people freaking out over secret images hidden in clouds. I'd love to see some of the answers a Rorschach test would get.
  14. ^ It would be nuts to say he's the next Cabrera, not disagreeing. In that case, the aforementioned 60 game sample size doesn't even begin to do justice to a comparison. What I meant is that they are both hulking 1B types who don't miss mistakes, but are just as likely to take a bad pitch (to hit) and turn it around. They're very similar players, 1 has been doing it for years, 1 has been doing it for months. Whether or not he'll have long-term success like Cabrera, I don't know. Carlos Quentin made a lot of pitchers (and the Diamondbacks front office) look stupid in 2008, but has been wildly inconsistent since because he's a porcelain doll.
  15. First game back from the DL for Jose Abreu last night- takes Kershaw out of the park. First inning of the very next game (tonight), another projectile launched at people sitting in the LF seats. At the moment, 2 HR/5 RBI since returning. 60 games is more than fair enough in terms of sample size from which conclusions can be drawn. If he falls into a slump at this point, it'll be no different than if a Ryan Braun or Miguel Cabrera fall into a slump*- not that the rest of the league has caught up to him. *I mean this more so in the context of proven competitor rather than directly comparing him to Braun/Cabrera, although anyone paying attention to what he's doing will immediately think of Cabrera.
  16. * *For the record, I think most of the bad publicity he gets for the North Korea stuff is unwarranted.
  17. The fabled GCI coaster that Morey's is getting looks to have a similar lift support structure.
  18. I would think that aside from the semi-regular American Eagle Backwards Blue, that's a gimmick best saved for the years without much of anything in terms of expansion, like 2013's The Desolation of Hometown Square nightly musical.
  19. When SFGAm announced Goliath, it reminded me of a wooden (kind of) take on X, sans the whole 4D thing. When X was announced, I thought it's design would lend itself well to chain-wide cloning, and maybe it could have if it wasn't for the difficulties that plagued it early on.
  20. Looking at a cartoon drawing of Kumba on the park map is more intense than riding Fahrenheit.
  21. Hold on, these signs are near the entrance to SFGAm's lot? Unless you're using Burger King or some other fast food place/gas station right on top of the lot entrance, how is this even remotely enforceable?
  22. I'm right there with you, but since they're so keen on sponsoring everything right down to individual blades of grass and leaves on a tree, I'm sure they appreciate all the help they can get. There's a lot of leaves on trees in the park- I bet those tasked with the duty sometimes wish they were CFGAm. *ducks*
