  1. I've not watched the POV, but based on the still images, I'm penciling in the second (lower) overbanked turn for some delightful forces.
  2. And I as well. Can't see myself not just calling it Jumanji now this late in the game (5 minutes after I read the press release). Has anyone ridden SFMM's Drop Tower who can also compare it to the Second-Gen Intamin Drops? I know the vehicle and restraint system are a bit different with these new SFGAdv/SFMM towers, but based on the eye test, I'd imagine (and hope) the ride experience is still closer to the Second-Gens than the impressive looking but much tamer (lamer) Third-Gen Gyro Drops.
  3. I suppose it's only fair that if one of the two most intense coasters in the park is sent off, you plant something equally as intense or better in it's place. That first drop looks like it could be in the same realm as Raging Bull's, which I think is the best on a steel coaster. To have the wooden counterpart in the same park would be a nice touch.
  4. I remember reading about this on CoasterBuzz - hard to believe that it was 10 years ago (almost to the day). I naively got my hopes up when this was initially announced. Too bad it never panned out. I used the google to see if I could dig it up, and luckily I did. I followed a link from that thread, and it took me to an archive of sorts pertaining to Riverview. The guy behind the concept was murdered in 2003, and I guess the idea went with him. I vaguely remember hearing something about the project being revived by someone else in a different location (I know the original developer behind the project got as far as purchasing the land this was planned for) but it could just be my imagination.
  5. im really hoping that they get a b&m wing coaster thats something sfog really needs Between Whistlestop Park, the Picnic Pavilions, and Wile E. Coyote Canyon Blaster, the park already has a plentiful bounty of attractions to satisfy the same audience a Wing Coaster would target. ; - ) :ducks:
  6. There's a tidbit you probably wouldn't see in the press release if this were being built stateside.
  7. Short of seeing B&M dip their beak in the wooden coaster game was meant to help illustrate that whether the manufacturer ends up being Intamin, Rocky Mountain, or (somehow) Gravity Group, you wouldn't go wrong with either of them- nothing more. Now that it's been touched upon, though, what is so absurd about a B&M wooden coaster? Surely, we've seen enough curiosities take place in the industry over the past 10 years or so that it shouldn't stop anyone's world from turning if they eventually gave it a shot- just like they'll eventually give launched coasters a shot. Remember how these coaster discussion boards were full of people who swore they (B&M) would never build taller than 230 feet (I'm pretty sure the number was 230)?
  8. Right in between Hades and Voyage. I'd love to see that, but I'd really be surprised if this were anything other than a Rocky Mountain project (absolutely fine by me). Short of seeing B&M dip their beak in the wooden coaster game, it's hard to see SFGAm messing this up- provided they go with one of Rocky Mountain/Intamin or (the long shot/pipe dream) Gravity Group.
  9. Eight years is more than enough time for that to happen. Xcelerator saw structural modifications after just a year of operation. The Impulse Coasters (including Wicked Twister) also saw structural modifications not long after opening.
  10. I've not gone west to sample the drop tower SFMM fused onto Superman, but Second-Gen Intamin Drop Towers are the epitome of that ride type to me* - how do they compare? I know the vehicle and restraint system are a bit different, but based on the eye test, I'd imagine the ride experience is closer to the Second-Gens than the Third-Gen Gyro Drops (at least I hope it is). *Haven't gotten around to an ARM Tower yet, but I've heard only good things.
  11. The best part about the blossoming success story that is RMC is that there ought not to be any questions regarding the classification of their rides, ever.
  12. Tomb Raider at Kings Island. I remember the announcement being a big deal, and IIRC, there was a good deal of anticipointment that the hype was for a boxed Giant Top Spin . After that, downtime, loss of effects/ride program change, renaming, and removal (I think?).
  13. Pretty sure these come with Happy Meals at select McDonald's south of the Mason-Dixon line and New Jersey.
  14. I've wondered why we haven't seen Six Flags go for another Intamin Prefab coaster. El Toro really is that good - you would have a hard time finding an opinion to the contrary. I don't recall hearing of any noteworthy maintenance issues, those seem to be neatly confined to the giant green one next door to it. Still, not hard to see why speculation leans toward Rocky Mountain. With the two Texas parks going with them in consecutive years, and inversions on wooden coasters being the current flavor of the month. Whoever it ends up being, SFGAm probably won't go wrong with either of them.
  15. Raging Bull V2 Deja Vu Superman Ragin' Cajun Dark Knight Little Dipper X-Flight With the exception of Deja Vu, that hasn't been an issue at this park.
  16. Well this is an unexpectedly nice development. You can't really go wrong with either of the two manufacturers (Premier & RMC) being thrown around in early speculation, and it looks as if American Eagle is kindly being left alone- as it should be.
  17. I'd imagine there is quite a demand for a relatively new spinner like Ragin' Cajun. If it wasn't going to stay in-chain (SF), someone would probably snatch it up posthaste.
  18. Low capacity is what I was getting at, but low quality is applicable as well in the case of Dare Devil Dive (and Eurofighters in general) - at least to me. I've not had the opportunity to ride Green Lantern or any Zac-Spin, so no opinion there.
  19. Can't say I've experienced headbashing on a B&M inverted coaster- certainly not to the point where I got off the ride thinking that they really ought to consider redesigning the restraint system.
  20. Really? I'm no connoisseur of wild mouse coasters, but I thought the one in the box was more of an awkward fit. Meh. Glad to see that at least one of them is on it's way out. Hopefully it's not leaving just so they can shoehorn some other low capacity crap in it's place.
  21. Just out of curiosity, I know that some people actually attend these town hall hearings; do they present it strictly as 125+ feet, or do they disclose the actual height of the planned attraction? One other thing, a roller coaster isn't designed overnight- wouldn't it be prudent to take care of zoning and height a season or two ahead of time? I know these hearings are essentially a formality with this particular park and the township it's in, but we've seen SFNE get spared from a wild mouse coaster because of divine intervention and zoning issues**, and SFMW was forced to heavily modify their impulse coaster once the township got wise to the fact that it was nearly 40 feet over the 150 foot ceiling. **Only to add one a year later. Too bad.
