Are they maybe going for a Mexican Medusa-esque inversion drop? -
Photo TR: Aaron's World Tour of Japan!

Fuji-Q is far and away the park that most interests me in Japan, regardless of it's reputation. -
What's your most annoying ride song
Ed Farmer replied to Mineralex140's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It's not so much a song, but the station spiel on Great America's X-Flight makes me happy that B&M's eat people- thusly abbreviating the time spent waiting in the station listening to said horrible spiel. There would be a sizable increase of people stabbing themselves in the ear at Great America if X-Flight had the PPH of Deja Vu (for example). What an awful spiel. -
New Wanda Parks in China.

Good concept, but the visibility out there is like 4 meters. -
Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread

I hate on-board audio 99.9% of the time, but Holiday World needs to Six-Flagsify Raven's trains so that this could loop continuously. It doesn't matter that you'd only be able to hear 2 minutes of it at a time- added incentive for re-riding. -
Your favourite drop
Ed Farmer replied to Picto81's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
A tie. Raging Bull Maverick Only when experienced in the last row, and neither are anywhere near the tallest. -
Nemesis would rank very highly on my list of must ride, not just UK, but anywhere. I would be content with flying out there, walking into Alton to ride Nemesis, and walking right out/flying back as long as it meant I rode Nemesis. Also very interested in the pair of Fantasy Island Vekoma rides, and Nemesis Inferno at Thorpe, even though it seems Nemesis Inferno isn't highly thought of.

Portillo's. It's a chain, but it's the best damn chain-restaurant burger you'll ever find.

My Morning Jacket at Red Rocks 8/14/15. Red Rocks is an incredible venue. I went to Elitch Gardens earlier that day; a considerably less incredible venue.

Your First B&M Coaster?
Ed Farmer replied to TheCoasterKid211's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Kumba. What a way to start. It was either in it's first or second season. I definitely have much more appreciation today for the family vacations that took me to Tampa & the DC area (and both Busch parks) in the early '90s. -

I know parts of the midwest are supposed to receive stupid-warm temps for at least the next week (in the Chicagoland area, it's like open the gates and run some roller coasters stupid-warm). I assume that will make it's way over to northern-Ohio, as well. -
Front Seat Vs. Back Seat Coasters.
Ed Farmer replied to Physical's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I almost always shoot for the back with the exception of B&M Standups. They're intense to begin with- a front row ride seems to magnify that intensity. The first drop in the last row on Raging Bull more than redeems the somewhat fluffy remainder of the ride. -
Six Flags St. Louis (SFStL) Discussion Thread
Ed Farmer replied to Homer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Agreed that the G-Trains suck- but of the wooden coasters I've ridden that run them, I think they suck the least on Boss. Villain was probably the closest thing to Boss, but SFWoA/GL could have done a better job maintenance-wise. I actually dialed 911 to report attempted murder as soon as my train hit the brake-run on Hurricane Category 5. -

Thrilled to hear this. Boss is fine the way it is provided they give it the appropriate care. Admittedly, this is more than a typical wooden coaster would get because it's a giant terrain coaster. The best RMC StL could get is a RMC built from scratch...unless they want to take a shot at Ninja. -

That, and the wide trains on a Dive Machine subject riders to very similar sensations as their Wing Coasters. Both types have giant elements and drawn out transitions, which trains negotiate gracefully. Let's just hope that Valravn navigates that stretch of track with a little more zip than Gatesleeper does. -
I don't really have a favorite, but these are among my favorites: Maverick - Relocate to within walking distance of my residence in the Chicagoland area. Skyrush - Clone indiscriminately. Raging Bull - Remove trim brake from Camelback hill and re-purpose it (the trim) as a Fright Fest prop somewhere in the park. Voyage - Timberliners maybe? Beast - Close during daytime hours (I've never ridden during the day, but if you've ever spent 5 minutes on a coaster website it's pretty clear that this is a textbook case of Multiple Personality Disorder). I also think that every park could use a Batman The Ride clone, and if it already does; there's certainly no harm in having two of them.

Best Themed Queue Line
Ed Farmer replied to eskater132's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Manta and non-Pottered Dueling Dragons immediately come to mind. Another one that I've always enjoyed even though it's a far cry from much of what you'll find in Florida is a well-done Batman the Ride queue (unsurprisingly, there are varying levels of quality from example to example across the chain). Honorable mention goes to the fire escape theming found on Sidewinder at Elitch Gardens (and probably all Arrow Shittle Loops, for that matter) - just because wtf.
