Corkscrew Gardens (RCT2)
RCT2day replied to B.A.B's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
While I do really love the architecture and surrounding area around, I actually do not like the coaster. It is unrealistic and reminds me of Minecraft. However, others seem to like it so do what you want. To combine two phrases into one, to each man his own cup of tea. -
On that red coaster after the lift hill and into that turn but before the loop, you do not need that many angled pieces of track. Those buildings look great in that 1st screen. As for comments, I feel your pain. No one seems to comment enough on my work, either. Just keep going, the people who do comment represent the majority, if not all, of what people are thinking but not saying.

I was thinking along the lines of the apostles by the clue "my fifteen" but fifteen obviously is not twelve. However, if you add Mary Magdalene, Martha, and Mary his mother, then you get 15 but there are also people referred to as apostles (Timothy and Barnabas come to mind). Perhaps this clue deals with this? As for where the Holy Grail is...anywhere?

Indian Point Ballpark [RCT2]

^thanks. I had a thought of making a giant guitar but when I'm only limited to NCS, its pretty difficult. I actually did make a mediocre guitar in my first park I ever posted here. If you want to see it, follow the below link and its the 3rd or 4th picture: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=56942 Looking at now, its so embarrassing how horrible that park was. There was no planning, no decent coaster designs, terrible use of scenery, and it was just bad. Still, it was my first. -

Hey guys, As promised, here is that big update. The park is almost done and I'll guess it will be done by Christmas about. I will be in the TPR Showdown so that might sideline the park for a week but this is priority #1 to finish soon. gate 3.BMP Overview of Gate 3 and surronding area, somewhat unfinished underground parking.BMP Underground parking lot (you'll remember this land is where I had difficultly deciding what to put here) gardens.BMP A pathway above some gardens and paths with some shops on the street side hard rock cafe.BMP Hard Rock Cafe, a reference to Yankee Stadium and, frankly, I love Classic Rock hard rock cafe 2.BMP More Hard Rock, and thats a heli-pad. ^Thats better than how I pictured the picnic area, very well done. Glad I could help. Just a thought, if you're prebuilding coasters, consider you might change them around when you come closer to work on the surrounding area. Don't limit yourself to original designs, be flexible. Knowing how fast you are at building your parks with such great quality, I'd say mid-Feb is a good estimate when this will be done. (Can't wait until then)

Heres the current overview, this is not the big update I promised: overview 2.BMP Overview: wait, what's that to the left? -
Pretty good, sir, Just change that picnic area a little, it just doesn't look as good possible with the land textures and the seats. For inspiration, look at a picture of a real one and you'll see its much tighter between tables, maybe some flowers, and is covered with roofs or umbrellas in some places. Wooden Coaster (Tidal Wave I think) looks really good, just add some supporting to the lift hill. Nice job, looking forward to future updates
-
You've really showed a dramatic improvement in your park building skills. Nice work all around here. I'm trying to find something for you to improve on but I really can't . Maybe change the land tiles below some of the paths, having grass under some paths doesn't look great. As for a name, I'll think of one for you and get back to you wiht it later.

Imagine this turn next year during the spring or summer time, gonna look beautiful and there is no denying it. -

^Wow, thats good. My only 2 complaints are the the staircase to the left with the wooden track (use something like the splash boats upwards-inclined track or actual path) and the weird yellow things hanging over the seats (I just don't see what they are). Other than that, amazing. -

No more comments? I'll certainly be getting a big update posted around Thanksgiving and, if anyone wants an overview, I'd be happy to oblige. -

So close, a difference of .38 points? Unheard of and really unlucky. Really was great to follow this and watch its development here. Considering that at NE, you had some highly rated guys applaud your work and said it deserved a bronze. Seriously, great job and please continue your work here, some award is not far from your grasp in the near future. -
TPR CHALLENGE: Village Gardens
RCT2day replied to QueerRudie's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Well, I guess I'm out of this one. Could not get my entry finished in time tonight as a result of so much school work. Even if I could have completed it, I was not too keen on entering cause I feel its not that good. Anyway, here are the only (in my opinion) worthwhile parts of the park. In fact, these pics are mediocre I think, but thats the best this park had to offer. Any idea when the next challenge for RCT2 will be? (hopefully Christmas time) SCR1.BMP Colt, a B&M coaster going through a tunnel over its own queue SCR2.BMP Essentially, the focal point of the park. obviously, really unfinished but I just like the trains effect on the area -

^I think the carousal's building is very good, the only problem are the different roofs at the top. Maybe put a unit of white wall between the roofs or change the roofs all together. You do need some flowers to add more diverse color. Also, add some side-supports to the wooden coaster for realism. Still, great pic. -

Not really a "Preview" Thread pic but not part of a park I'm making, just an idea so I put it here. Anyone know if this sequence of inversions has ever be done before? SCR1.BMP Not really sure what to call it -
First, Welcome to TPR. Good to see bright and upcoming people join this community. Now, onto your pics. Really good job for you first posts. The inspiration from Califolf and CC9 is obvious and it works well. Great buildings and good details. I would say just vary your roofs and add some objects to the roofs for more realism. Right now, you have the same color with nothing special about each tile but that can change with just a pipe or something. Looking forward to more posts and pics from you.

^NICE job on that entrance, I would just say get rid of that fence on that path to the left of the actual entrance where the map ends. Really good and the color blue is fine if you have that as the park's color. -

Sometimes getting people to comment is hard and I understand that. Just keep people interested as you update. As for the park, it turned out really great and I think you should score well at NE. I'm not promising a gold, silver, or bronze but I wouldn't be surprised if this park received something along those lines. Really great job and I'm looking forward to mor from you. -

^^The ghost: sick job with that ncs work and without hacks (I believe). Just change the direction of the black wooden blocks on the roof so they are consistent or have some pattern. ^Funkeymon: just add some more detail to the building (windows, doors, etc.) and stay consistent with the fences around the balconies. Those pillars look really good. -

Thanks everyone, means a lot to me that you enjoy my work. About NE, its a bit early to be deciding anything but, if all goes well, I will submit it. Regardless of the result, prize or score, I'm just playing for the sake of getting people interested in the game and showing off my creativity (I hope to be an engineer of some kind, by the way). As for the locations, I guess we can rule out New Orleans and Annapolis. I decided to not use any West coast because I only know the East. I'm leaning towards Savanha, Charleston, or Virginia Beach/Norfolk but we'll see, its not a pressing issue or anything. As for that plot of land, I feel it necessary to construct some building. I could easily make a park or garden of some kind that looks fine but I really want to utilize the area well. Last, don't expect updates on weekdays or, for that matter, every weekend. I might post a pic, ask a question, or some other third thing but full updates are hard now and take weeks of work. Come the holidays, I think I'll be done. Once again, thank you everyone for your response and comments, glad to see people showing an interest in my parks. -

I think I'll add to the debate on ideas... Simply put, whats popular is popular. If you do not like it, you don't have to. The wingrider is the newest concept and innovation to the rollercoaster world and, with the huge rise in its polularity to parks around the globe, it is only natural that people want to design their own version. Saying, "I'm sick of seeing the same wingrider, wingrider, wingrider" is kind of narrow minded. For example, when the bow and arrow was invented and man had the resources to use it, did people rush to use and innovate it or did people say, "Everyone uses this so I'm going to stick with throwing rocks". The wingrider is simply another way of experience the thrill that is a rollercoaster. Just like inverts, stand-ups, floorless, reverse-seaters, shuttles, LIM launches, etc. Just my opinion on the matter, you do not have to accept it. Can we get back to pictures and not debating this?
