Indian Point Ballpark [RCT2]
RCT2day replied to RCT2day's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
No update for now, but I will get one up later today I think. I was looking at some NE winners and found many of them creatively name their workers. I was thinking about naming my workers after the greatest men to take the field in MLB history. Of course, Babe, Mantle, Ted Williams, Dimaggio, Gehrig, Aaron, etc. but I need more than 40 names. Any suggestions? Also, I was planning on putting retired numbers on the outfield walls. I need 42 (for Jackie Robinson) and a couple others. Does that sound like a good idea? -
[RCT2] Breckenridge Park

^Now thats a coaster. Beautiful layout, very realistic, love it. My only suggestion is to free up some land. It is a little crowded in the area so maybe take away some tiles from the queue and dedicate it to trees or just empty space. Incredible work. -

^None of the park is peepable. If it was, it would be 10x as crowded as Times Square and empty in others parts. If the people had as much common sense as a Red Sox player (which is not much), they could find queues that actually do work for the rides. But the go-karts are not peepable: not a complete circuit. Thanks for your comment -

So work's been slow (as usual) but I have Winter Break coming in mid-February so my intention is to finish the parkthen, go over it, put up a download, get some advice from NE veterans, and submit it. Here is just a short update with the new Go-Karts called Thunder Speedway and an unnamed chairlift that goes over most of the boardwalk area. speedway.BMP Thunder Speedway speedway 2.BMP More Thunder Speedway speedway 3.BMP Final angle of Thunder Speedway and the station for the chairlifts mako 7.BMP Mako's big bowl, a new garden-thingy on the path, and the chairlift above Mako -

Fantastic park for a first-timer but tone the colors a bit. I'm looking forward to your future work. -

^That is great. Looks like a classic B&M layout. After the lift-hill you have just a turn. Maybe make the first part of it banked-downwards and then banked-upwards to where you have the drop. If that sounds confusing (which it is when I re-read it), look at the lift-hill of Green Lantern @ SFGadv. Also, its a whee-bit short. Maybe try 2 corkscrews next to each other and a turn around or something. Really good work. -
[RCT2] Breckenridge Park
RCT2day replied to TheDarkMaxim's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
You could just abandoned the timeline and just build the park as you feel right. Personally, if I had 300ft B&Ms in 1948 (which is entirely impossible), I would not care at all because I just don't like the idea of a timeline park. If you submit this to NE (which you should), they're not gonna care either, just so long as the park is good (which it is). Just my thoughts. -

That Big Surf looks great, just add 1 or 2 more flats pieces on the short side of the station so that it goes over the water. That would look good. Just a question, is your park going on a timeline? If it is, I doubt a Big Surf will be constructed in 2025, there will certainly be better flat rides by then. -

Thats a beautiful GCI. Fantastic use of scenery all around it. I would just say add some supports to the lift hill and other tall areas. You have more than plenty of land left for the park, will the complete park be that large as the map? -
That launched Intamin looks extremely immense and (kind of) unproportional to the park. Granted, in reality there are coasters of that size but in RCT2 you rarely, if never, see anything over 250ft. Maybe 175-225ft would look better buts that just me. Also, work on the supports for the top-hat, look at Stormrunner and Xcelerator for inspiration. Great improvements to that gift shop and that bridge... Really great. I've always wondered how to do something like that but you've nailed it. Great job.

Funkeymon, gotta go with a family-owned park. In general, a good Six Flags takes serious CS skills but a family-owned is not limited by your the type of scenery used. That said, I would prefer a family-owned that doesn't just have 1 or 2 small coasters but has 5-7 including B&Ms, Intamins, etc. But thats just my opinion... -

First, welcome to TPR. For this being your first "real" park, you've got talent. I see some parks thrown around that people call their "first" and they aren't close to mediocre. Seriously though, this looks really great by the standard of first parks. Just some suggestions: Never put any track at 0ft, it looks like the coaster doesn't have any supports (Thunder Shock, Coal Miner, and Thundershock from what I saw). Also, that first drop on tThundershock looks a bit extreme, try making the first hill after the lift just like 10-20ft less as a general rule. Your scenery skills look pretty good; buildings, supports, trees, and gardens are all great. Your style reminds me of my first park here, just keep at the game and I can guarantee you'll produce fantastic results (you have a great start already). -
If a game were designed similar to RCT, I would certainly buy it (assuming it is under $10). If it is something like Aircoaster or NoLimits, I would buy it for the at the same price range if it you just "dumb it down" a bit to attract a general audience, not just extreme coaster enthusiasts (like most of us here).

Great coasters, great scenery, great park. Just wondering, you said the park was NCSO but you have different paths not from the original RCT2, do you mean NCSO for something like Wacky Worlds or any expansion pack? I might download it later and want to be sure I can actually download it as well as keep my computer pure of any CS paths. Thanks

The "Preview" Thread
RCT2day replied to DBru's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
^My only concern is that entrance/exit right in the middle. Yeah, its cool for someone in-line to look up and see that complex but it does not flow well with the rest of the entrances. You could save your guests a lot more confusion if the queue and exit path were not underground but were with other paths, meaning make the exit of that ride the same as another and the entrance from the main path way and around the whole complex. The scenery on top is very good, similar to Power Tower at CP but different angle. EDIT: \/Wow...that was quick, looks much better -

I'm surprised it's not a bigger coaster then. By the way... Renegades... Indian Point... I know this is supposed to be Buffalo but do you live in the Hudson Valley? It seems very inspired by that area. Finally, someone realizes the many references. Yes, I'm a proud New Yorker, huge fan of the Yanks, Giants, Knicks, etc. A lot of the park is inspired by my experience at the Jersey shore, Yankee Stadium, Citi Field, New York's metro system, etc. By the way, the park is in Savannah, Buffalo was the original idea but that changed with the boardwalk idea. Thanks for your comments guys -

^Joel? If by that you mean Billy Joel, than I approve. I'll be posting an update later this weekend, I just wanted to show you guys some behind-the-scenes work to constructing the stadium, truly the hardest part of the park when it is almost entirely scenery rising to 130+ feet. I have the same question, so can someone answer for the sake of 2 people. I think I've experienced the same thing before and it can cause some error and possibly delete saved files if not taken care of. If I recall correctly, try creating track that would connect with the piece, change the track piece so that it is the same as the all-white "ghost" track, build it then another piece, and then delete until you are where you want to be. -

RCT2day replied to RCTrioFan's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
I like the double supports going up the lift hill but maybe make them the same color. Creative idea with the coaster going into water bit it is not realistic for something of that size. Good use of the rock wall on that wall, no one seems to do that enough especially when it looks really good. -
Screamin' Adventures [RCT2]
RCT2day replied to molemaster43's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Good woodie, just add some supports to the side, trees, etc. and you've got yourself a winner. NEVER make your paths 1 unit wide right at the entrance of any park, causes congestion and doesn't look great. Also, add some fences on your paths, realistically that would allow guests to run around in the park. Otherwise, great start and looking forward to more. -

Thanks for your feedback but everyone's just criticizing the monkey bars now (which I might not keep at this point). The only way I might keep some monkey bars is if there is a way that I can put the wild mouse tracks into the game without causing my computer to explode. Any ideas? What about the new queue? Better? Worse? How can it improve? -
Indian Point Ballpark [RCT2]
RCT2day replied to RCT2day's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Unfortunately, I did not account for the inverted hairpin coaster when I created the scenario. I made a copy of the monkey bars with that track and it looked much better. In the pic below, I have an inverted B&M and SLC track, still deciding which to use (unless there is a way I could add the inverted hairpin into the game without hacks). Sure...the woodie layout was inspired by Twister...let's say that (but I've never been to Knoebels though). Really, its based on Wildcat @ Hershey, Hammerhead @ Wildwood, NJ, and just a general boardwalk woodie style. So, I've worked on those areas and I just have some improvements up for your consideration mako queue.BMP Mako's queue (hows the waterfall?) mako 6.BMP Back of Mako's queue sawmill 2.BMP Updated Sawmill Scrambler and playground area playground.BMP Updated playground area (which track for the monkey bars?) -

^^Thanks for clearing things up for me ^Thanks for your in-depth comment. I'll try to improve that queue today and post a pic. You're right, the queue is very bland, it was intended just to be short and sweet. As for the playground, it does seem a bit messy. I might take away the large trees to add some smaller ones, scrap the jumping fountains, and move the monkey bars (how are the monkey bars?). Other than that, any ideas on how to avoid this "messy" appearance? -

Hey guys, Yes, it has been a month since I've last updated. No, the park is not (nor ever will be) dead. Just have some pictures on the developing boardwalk area, including the woodie, Mako, and some flats (unfinished pics mostly).
