  1. All I can say is FINALLY! It looks like this coaster is finally becoming a reality.
  2. Angry_Gumball is correct, the reason they hold guests is so they can accommodate a wheelchair up the entrance ramp. As I saw this happen today unlike what I thought earlier there is still a wait in the station. For what ever reason today Grizzly was having some very slow dispatches and both trains were even running! I also was not able to check out the markers because I wasn't really in the mood to get wet today since im a little sick and it was windy out. About those markers I mentioned that I saw on opening day, I wasn't even able to find them today, which was a little strange. Other than that it was a mild day, seemed like there were more people at the park this Sunday compared to last. There were only a one-two train wait for most of the coasters. I also saw only two people who purchased the Fast Lane, don't even know why you would buy it on a quiet day. Now I have a few random pictures: Here is the freshly painted white wall for Fast Lane as I mentioned above. A stuck Flight Deck. Last but not least a stoned penguin, no idea why this is even a prize.
  3. I'm at the park now, so far the only Fast Lane wood they painted was Barney Olfield's which is the parks car ride. EDIT: Grizzly's line is a Liitle strange today; they are holding people in the courtyard area and letting one train load of people up at a time.
  4. I thought this was intresting it's the old Great America site from 1997! web.archive.org/web/19970601180912/http://www.pgathrills.com/virtualset.html Oh and if you think Gold Passes are expensive now, a individual pass then was $80!
  5. ^ ^I forgot to go and get a picture of them. ( Remembered as I was leaving) I plan to go back this weekend and I will take a picture of the ones I was talking about and ride Loggers Run to see the ones you were pointing out.
  6. Here is the parks new commercial for this year, lots of people on the parks fan page have been complaining about it saying it is loud and obnoxiousness . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ErtEzkS1haU&feature=youtu.be
  7. I actually heard that this rule has been around for quite some time it just was never enforced like it was yesterday. I have a feeling that it will eventually wear off.
  8. I knew something bad had happened when someone is the grassy area and looking at the ride vehicle. Do you know what happened exactly?
  9. I just got back from opening day at Great America and in quick form, I was able to get numerous rides on all of the coasters except Grizzly. Which for some reason was only using one train and was having very slow dispatches. Continuing with Grizzly, the retaking they did for the second turn around has made the ride a lot smoother. Also the permit for the new staircase that was posted a few pages back, really isn't a staircase they just redid the entire ramp to go up into the station. I will post some captions in the pictures below to explain a few more things. I did't take too many pictures this time as I plan to go back when the weather is nicer and bring my T2i. On a side note, I noticed two survey markers at the park today, one near Rue Le Dodge, and other one near the gift shop that is by Loggers Run. It could be nothing or it could be something but im calling it now Aquatrax. Yay im the first person in the world to get this shot, not. While waiting inline at the Season Pass processing area, Vortex through the trees! Here is new new Gold Pass design, the other passes also got a redesign. gold passes.bmp Here is the previous years Gold Passes for comparison. First coaster of the day was Flight Deck! Flight Deck through its Zero G roll. Next I headed over to Vortex, which is still very rough. The new Fast Lane signs, which are at various rides. At most rides to enter the Fast Lane you either go through the exit or front of the ride. Demon and its new paint. (Not sure if your able to tell in the picture.) Also over at Grizzly they chopped some trees down which gives you a clear view of Tiki Twirl. Fire Fall was running on opening day for once. (Which was stated above.) Drop Tower with the dark clouds in the background. Which thankfully it didn't rain. For a good part of the day, Tiki Twirl was stuck at this end of the ride. Not sure what the problem was. Now the question is, will we see a new coaster in this area next year? Also can you spot the elephant?
  10. Back on the topic of weather for a moment, it appears that the major storm front has gone away and there are just a few small showers that might make its way to Santa Clara. So major rain shouldn't even be an issue today!
  11. I see Spongebob on the site now, I didn't see it listed their at first. Hopefully something comes to that theater soon. Spongebob has lived there too long now.
  12. I was looking at the Kings Dominion thread and I noticed they were getting this installed in their Action Theater. I wonder if this will be going into CGA's Action Theater as well?
  13. Im just going to wait and see how it is in the morning. Weather in the Bay Area tends to change by the hour either by getting worse or better. That's one of the reason the news prediction are so off sometimes due to the drastic change the weather can have. *EDIT* I thought I would post a comparison to what Angry_Gumball posted. This came from weather.com which is claiming the same exact thing almost
  14. That's why I was sort of worrying about, I haven't missed an opening day in quite awhile im just trying to stay optimistic. If worse case scenario if the park is still open I will go and process my pass and leave.
  15. I did read that the storm is supposed to die down around 10-11AM with there just being small showers throughout the day. The only downside of having a radar to look at is it only shows an hour at a time and not the full picture. This is from weather.com "Cloudy with showers. High 61F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 60%." I will check again later on never know how this storm might change.
  16. It seems like the rain isn't as bad as the various news stations were making it sound like. Im in San Jose which is about 20 minutes from the park. All the rain we had today was a few light sprinkles. So im expecting the weather to be about the same tomorrow, no matter what I will be at opening day wearing my TPR shirt and most likely a hoodie that says "Internet Killed Television".
  17. I think its a great idea for the Fast Lane to be implemented into all of the Cedar Fair parks. Im not sure how busy the park can get during the summer because I tend to go on the off days. I think the system will be awesome during Haunt especially if they have Fright Lane, that would help a lot also.
  18. Also SFM could be doing all of the prep work for the ride now. So once they receive the ride they can just bolt it in and set up all of the necessarily things and begin testing. The ride could open up sometime within this year.
  19. The river was starting to get like that when I was there a few weeks ago. I steps that are closest to the Cliff Hanger ride were gone and the river water was right below it. I guess they didn't think it would overflow that bad. Here is sort of a wide shot of the sand pushes away that the Boardwalk posted on their facebook page. Here is a more close up shot that they posted.
  20. I will also be at the park opening day like I always am!
  21. This years off season seems to be just flying by! It good to see the rides being tested as there is only 20 more days until the park opens for the season.
  22. I like to collect different park maps and pins from the Disneyland Resort. My favorite maps to collect are the Disneyland and California Adventure maps. I recently framed my Disneyland maps and various fast passes and a very special ticket to me, my first visit to Disneyland in 1999!
  23. Well yesterday I started my 2012 season at the Boardwalk and I have some construction and referb pictures. To start out with the weather was perfect in Santa Cruz, almost felt like summer! Something that was even better than the weather, the lines were very short! I was able to get three rides in a row on the Dipper which is running smoother than ever. Im still debating on posting a full trip report, in the mean time I have all of the pictures posted on my facebook if anyone is interested. To start with a picture of the Giant Dipper! Double Shot is in its annual referb. Loggers Revenge with was down, possibly referb too. Ferris Wheel was naked. Here is the former location of Crazy Surf. It just seems to be prep work at the moment for the new ride.
  24. I have great hope that the park will finally will have a new coaster for the 2013 season! I know that the permit listing doesn't confirm anything but I have a strong feeling that the park will have a new addition!
