Woman sues Magic Springs

Well considering what state we're talking about, I'm not surprised the bench gave way. -

I made it to Boy Scouts... it wasn't a good experience. -
Random Photo TR: Snowstorm in Memphis

Loopy, we took a measure ourselves. I'm not sure though how much of that accumulation was blown snow so it's hard to tell. Although the National Weather Service gave my town Bartlett a 8.0" total snow amount. Pirouettes, thanks! We have a mini-dachshund, but she's not too fond of the snow, especially since the snow was about as high as she is! -
I participated in the 30 Hour Famine (that's where we raise money for world hunger, then we don't eat for 30 hours) over the weekend and to top off the weekend... we got EIGHT INCHES of snow! Memphis hasn't gotten that much snow in at least a decade. I'll get straight to the pictures: It was coming down like rain! It snowed for at least 12 hours. Lucy got her first real taste of snow. Sassy doesn't know what to think of it. The streetlights cast an eerie glow over the street. The fort in the backyard was covered. I'm not sure I've seen this much snow in my life. That bush got PWNED. I slept in this morning, so alot of it had melted on the streets. My house is covered. There's my window. AHHHH it's a wall of snow! What an end to a massive snow...

Nice pictures, the area looks pretty cool. It's funny they've got that cruise ride going in there, isn't there a similar one in the Land of Dragons area? -
Amusement Park Drive In!

This is awesome, we've got some friends down in Mississippi that own a drive in and they used to have mini-golf and a little ride or two. -
Undocumented/forgotten coasters

There's alot of mystery surrounding East End Park here in Memphis. I've heard stories that the first version of Zippin Pippin, which opened c. 1912 was erected at East End, but burned down and then version 2.0 was built at Libertyland where it still stands today. Wikipedia also states this but you know how reliable they can be: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zippin_Pippin This website also speaks on the subject: http://freepages.history.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~howardlake/amusement14/midsouth.html But then I've seen pictures of a different version of Zippin Pippin at its current location, so that might debunk the first story. http://rcdb.com/pd1235.htm I've also heard that Zippin Pippin came from a New York boardwalk that closed. So whether these are all one coaster or different ones, it's always interesting to try to dig up more information on it. -
I feel dumb for asking this - but are these two people that are on the "team" from HRP's old management team or were they people who got the idea for the park together. If these are two guys who only envisioned the place and helped to get it off the ground so-to-speak and didn't really have anything to do with it failing, then what's the big deal? Now if these two guys were part of the management, then something's messed up. I guess I'm trying to turn a blind eye to this - I really want to see this park succeed.

I'm gonna hope for the best with the new owners. Hopefully they will be able to see what went wrong with the park last year. Robb, while I do agree that $35 is alot, other parks are charging alot more and getting away with it. Look at Magic Springs, they're charging $45 for a one day pass and I'm gonna take a guess that I would have more fun at Hard Rock Park than at Magic Springs. That park. Granted, they do have a waterpark included, but the entire park is very do-able in half a day. Magic Springs is also in a vacation-destination town, much like Myrtle Beach. $35 is alot but it's better than $50.

Did they remove the remnants of Grizzly or is it still there? I remember there being some talk about it being removed. -

^ Agreed. I wouldn't want this guy controlling the park.
