^ I need to amp up security in that area! 2010 28th Season There's been very little development lately as far as "Project 2011" goes. I've heard that the project has stalled in the approval process. Charleston is a beautiful city and its leaders want to keep it that way. I would imagine a wooden coaster would be hard to approve. We'll see where it goes. Undertaker climbs the lift... I've heard that the Gotham City Backlot area might receive a name change. Any ideas? The waterfall by Buccaneer Battle provides for a great photo-op. A Green Falcon train soars through one of the many overbanked turns. Bugs Bunny National Park The Character Cafe now features a revamped menu with healthier options. I often forget about the Carousel - it's such a classic ride. Thunder River was closed for most of the day. Not good for a sweltering late-August Saturday. Although it later reopened. 2010 28th Season I've been snooping around for clues regarding next year's and although I still haven't found any concrete details, my sources now seem to be pointing more towards a wooden rollercoaster. That's great news as we are in great need of a wooden coaster. I decided to pay for a ride on Wii: Experience. It's a fun ride, but it's not worth the upcharge. Buccaneer Battle is the perfect day on a hot day like today. Johnny Rocket's for lunch! I usually ride the train after eating lunch... in order to prevent losing it on one of the coasters. The Charleston Railway is great if you don't feel like walking from one side of the park to the other! I rode Rebellion a couple times... no matter how many times I ride, it doesn't get any easier! There's still land clearing going in where the rumored coaster will be located. Undertaker... I waited an hour to ride it! This ride makes me sick.. This area will likely be much busier next season. 2010 28th Season Today was a hot but enjoyable day at Six Flags South Carolina! This is without a doubt my favorite view of the park. Don't let the small size of the loop fool you, it's pretty intense! Batman's become a very iconic coaster at the park. There's a lot packed into a small area of land. The lower level of the park. Today was a great day to ride Tidal Wave. Have a great night! Signing off, Tommy

2010 28th Season This season is chugging right along. I've heard very little about next year's new attraction, but I'm hearing from some sources that it will be either a decently-sized coaster or a very large flat ride. I'll try to find out more! You're cool for standing on the other side of the fence. Green Falcon is not an easy-going ride by any means. Nothing but sky. No lines today! I love watching people ride Thunder River just about as much as I love riding it. A train got stuck on the lift hill for about 10 minutes. Bugs Bunny National Park That bridge really does offer some great views of the Gardenhill Pass area. It wouldn't be an update without Undertaker. Have a great rest of the day. Signing off, Tommy

2010 28th Season Bad service and long lines. Today wasn't the best for the park. Derecho was only running one train. The lines were long to say the least. It's worth the wait, though. V2! The reverse spike is my favorite part of the ride. What is normally a "stroll" in Gotham City Park turned into a 2-hour long wait. But I waited anyway. Bizarro is still the best ride in the park, hands down. Roadrunner Express is a fun ride, even for family. Green Falcon... and the sun. Undertaker's loop is pretty intense. Signing off, Tommy

2010 28th Season The lines weren't too bad at the park today. I almost rode every ride at the park. I haven't done that in years! This is the worst part of Rebellion... waiting to begin the ascent to the top. Well, I suppose waiting to drop is the worst. Scooby Doo had the longest line of the day...a whopping 20 minutes. It looks like nobody wanted to ride the train. Undertaker was only running one train today. Bizarro's crazy finale. I think I could ride Green Falcon all day and be completely fine. I took advantage of these short lines and rode Thunder River. This isn't a sight you see that often. Have a nice evening. Signing off, Tommy

2010 28th Season Today was another long, but fun, day at the park. The Great Swings in action. Tony Hawk's Big Spin opened an hour late today. The water looks very refreshing on a hot day like this. Thunder River is a great way to cool off. I took a couple shots of the theater inside after the show. It's old yet it serves its purpose. Overview of half of the park's mainstreet. Bizarro at sunset never disappoints. Thanks for reading! Signing off, Tommy

2010 28th Season Hello once again! It was a beautiful, although hot, day at Six Flags South Carolina today. The crowds weren't alwful by any means. Beware of midway games... they'll get ya! The bumper cars have reopened after a much-needed rehab. The Great Swings, what a beautiful ride. I love everything about Johnny Rocket's except the prices! There's no telling when we'll see something replace this patio on the old Firebomb foundation. Tony Hawk's Big Spin had a very long line, as usual. Although, Buccaneer Battle's line was unusally short. Green Falcon... that's about all I can say! They've got a great musical show in the theater right now! Signing off, Tommy

^ No, no fog added. 2010 28th Season I haven't been to the park in about a week, yet it's seemed like forever. Let's see what's going on: The weather has been unseasonably cool lately. I'm not complaining! Soon there will be another sign here directing people to the new ride, whatever it may be. I heard that Bizarro was closed several days last week. As far as I could tell it was open all day today. It's always fun to walk past the Character Cafe and here the loud insanity coming from within. It reminds me of my childhood, sorta. Bugs Bunny National Park Anybody been to Six Flags Magic Mountain? Which is better... Green Falcon or Tatsu? I think it'd be hard to beat Green Falcon. The sun sets... ...which means picture time! Have a great evening! Signing off, Tommy

2010 28th Season I've been spending most of my days at the park lately. Is that a bad thing? Oh well. Maybe one of these days I'll make it to the beach. I did something I've never done before... run to V2 when the park opens. I wanted to beat the masses of middle schoolers. Ah, the perks of being a season passholder. Something BIG is coming to the park next season. They've already started clearing the land where Skycoaster once stood. I'll snoop around and see if I can't find out what it is. Batman departs out of the Batcave... ...as Green Falcon soars above the trees. Today was a great day to have a giant bucket of water dumped on you. Hey, there's Green Falcon! Helpful hint: don't ride Thunder River right before the sunsets. You'll be very cold. Undertaker... undertaking riders. This is one of my favorite shots of the ride. Signing off, Tommy

Mitch Hawker 2010 poll
coasterdude5 replied to Skycoastin Steve's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It saddens me that I have not ridden any of the top tenners.. I need to change this. Great job on the poll, Mitch! -
2010 28th Season The weather's warming up and with that comes the mass crowds. I spent an early June Saturday at the park... what can you do? I got to the park an hour before it opened and the parking lot was already filling up... not a good sign. Fun Fact: a private patio once overlooked this small pond. Management would use it for conferences, lunch breaks, etc. It was destroyed during Hugo. I've heard a nasty rumor that Granny's Bakery might be converted into a "Cyber Cafe" next season. Hopefully it doesn't happen. Granny's was here before Six Flags bought the park! It's one of the few Charleston Gardens-influenced eateries left in the park. Hint: don't ride Gotham City Crime Wave after eating. Buccaneer Battle had a lengthy line today. Needless to say, I did not ride. Undertaker is my favorite coaster at the park. I think. Someone threw up on Green Falcon so it was closed for about an hour. I love being in the park when they start to turn the lights on. The whole park comes to life (even more). Thanks for reading! 2010 28th Season I spent another full day at the park today. I'm celebrating graduation, I suppose (or putting off the job hunt). Riding the tram to the entrance provides one with a great view of the lake. Undertaker seems to be running faster than normal this season. Let's see what's happening over on this side of the park. Tony Hawk's Big Spin had a 2 hour long wait today. No thanks! Buccaneer Battle's line hasn't surpassed an hour yet due to the large number of boats. I love the waterfall. The sound of it is certainly better than the Miley Cyrus music being pumped through the speakers. It's definitely not Pirates of the Caribbean, but it's a heavily-themed ride for Six Flags' standards. Today was a perfect day for a soaking ride. Derecho received a small rehab during the offseason. It's running much smoother this year. It was definitely a full day! Signing off, Tommy

^ I promise it will not. Congrats to djf at Shyguys World for winning the billboard contest! 2010 28th Season I am officially a college graduate! College was easily the greatest time of my life and I can't wait to see where I go from here. I'll be in Charleston this summer as I begin to look for work, although with the current state of the job market I might have to go elsewhere. Obviously my dream job would be working at the park but I don't want to get my hopes up for that one. I went to the park today to check out Buccaneer Battle. I've heard great things about it. This billboard is MUCH better than the old basic Six Flags logo! Hello, Six Flags South Carolina. It's been too long. I rode V2 first - no lines! Buccaneer Battle does a great job filling the void left by Deer Park Plunge. Some of the ride's rockwork was even incorporated into Buccaneer Battle. The ride is perfect for families. Everyone, including non-riders, can participate. The water guns on the boat allow you to soak other riders. There's also a new waterfall from Buccaneer Battle down to Swan Lake. It's quite beautiful. After a couple spins on Buccaneer Battle, I needed something to dry me off but I didn't want to pay $10 for the "family dryer." Batman's the next best thing. It'll dry you very quickly. Today was a great day. I'll be back tomorrow for sure. Signing off, Tommy

Don't forget that billboards must be posted in this thread by this Saturday! 2009 27th Season Today's my last day before I leave for school and embark on my senior year of school. It's very hard to believe. The 2010 announcement is due to take place on Friday. I'll be sure to relay the news to you all. I won't be seeing this for a while... Have you ever noticed that all of the major steel coasters' lift hills point in the same direction? Batman's queue greenery sure has filled in. I have a feeling that it's going to be a long off-season. I'll see you next year! Signing off, Tommy

2009 27th Season 2010 rumors are heating up. I've heard everything from a new coaster to a new restaurant. This is a dated picture. There's since been a lot of ground work done to this area. It looks like everything has been flattened out. I wonder if this points to a flat ride... This area of the park could certainly use a new attraction. The park isn't really "overdue" for a new coaster, but I know many enthusiasts have been hoping for a new wooden coaster. I guess we'll find out soon enough. Signing off, Tommy

Gröna Lund Discussion Thread
coasterdude5 replied to Tobias94's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm in love. I honestly hadn't paid much attention to this prior to viewing the video, I had no idea how awesomely compact it is. It looks like something straight out of Rollercoaster Tycoon. -
Faithful followers, May is probably the last full month of updates from Six Flags South Carolina. I've had a great time with this project but like many have said, all good things must come to an end. I originally said that I will take the park through 2011. That is true. You will see the park's fate, be it good or bad. However, 2010 will be the last full year of updates. 2010 updates will be bigger, with hopefully at least 10 pictures per update. I'm going to show you every nook and cranny of the park. We'll also delve into the park's history. There's some rides that even I've probably forgotten about. I've been working on this park for over 2 years! You all have been so good to me over these past two years. You've continued to compliment, critique, or simply comment on updates both exciting and mundane. Even though I haven't replied to each of you individually, know that your feedback is invaluable to me. We still have a couple updates left for 2009 before 2010 begins. I expect 2010 to run for around three weeks, with the final updates being posted later this month or early next month. But that's not all... Design a Billboard Contest Six Flags has purchased one of the billboards near the one park's perimeter avenues. We have enlisted you to design an attractive billboard that reflects the park's fun, family-friendly atmosphere. With that being said, we are leaving the rest up to you. You may use any of the photos from this thread. Your billboard can be simple or photoshopped to the max. The choice is yours. The picture must be around 800x500 pixels in size. Small variations in size is allowed. Entries must be posted in this thread by Saturday, May 7, 2011. The winning entry will be placed on the billboard for the 2011 season. I will also post honorable mention winners as well. Good luck!

2009 27th Season Below are a few more pictures from my visit at the park yesterday: A friend that works at the park let me walk on the Gotham Theater stage. I wonder if the actors are ever distracted by Green Falcon. But I bet they're not coaster enthusiasts. There hasn't been anything too particularly interesting happening around the mainstreet area lately. I wish this trampoline ride didn't cost so much. It's a lot of fun. ...and Batman says goodnight! 2009 27th Season Today was a hot summer day. The lines were long but I stayed at the park for most of the day. I've heard a new Batman show will take place in the Gotham theater next year. I also heard that this is the area of the park to watch for future development. I'm assuming they're talking about the large plot of land that was once home to SkyCoaster. Riding Tony Hawk at night is interesting to say the least. Luckily for me the lines died down once the sun set. It was still a decent wait, though. Signing off, Tommy

2009 27th Season I've heard some exciting news: next year's new attraction will be built on the old Deer Park Plunge site. We should be seeing some activity around this area very soon. I like seeing Bizarro from this angle. Is it sad that I started typing Superman? It's been six months since the coaster was renamed. The park wasn't too crowded today. Most lines never exceeded 15 minutes. That's pretty typical for a mid-summer weekday. Strangely, Undertaker was closed for the entire time I was at the park. Hmm... Tony Hawk is still very popular with the families (of four anyway). Some poor woman lost her lunch on Gotham City Crime Wave. Unfortunately this is not a rare occurence. Signing off, Tommy

2009 27th Season So far there have been few rumors about next year. As I was at the park today I looked around for possible markers but I couldn't find anything. It's very possible that we won't see anything big until the company recovers... which could be a long ways off. I think it will be a while before we see another big coaster. Tidal Wave's operation has been spotty lately. The park wasn't crowded today at all. The heat probably kept some people away, as well as the threat for rain. Now it's time for a ride on Bizarro...have a great rest of the day! Signing off, Tommy

2009 27th Season I spent the whole day at the park and left with a painful sunburn. I need to remember to bring that sunscreen next time! After the removal of the log flume, I've made a point to pay more attention to the classic rides at the park, such as Vortex. Speaking of Deer Park Plunge, very little work has been done on the site since the flume was removed. There have been rumors that the ride was removed because the land it was built on is unstable. Hmm... Undertaker was running pretty rough today. I hope it wasn't that paint job! Now to go put some Aloe Vera on this burn! Signing off, Tommy
