  1. 2009 27th Season Did I mention that Firebomb was removed during the off-season? It was. There was no word on why the ride was removed, but it was probably the fact that it was closed more than it was open. The ride platform has been converted into a picnic area. I haven't heard anything on what new attraction might take its place, if anything. Bizarro is beautiful, no matter the color. No lines equals multiple re-rides. I took one last ride on Undertaker before calling it a day. Signing off, Tommy
  2. 2009 27th Season I forgot to mention that both Undertaker and Batman got new coats of paint this year. Fresh paint makes a world of difference. Batman kept its original color scheme. I was a little surprised. Green Falcon isn't quite ready for new paint. Have a great day. Signing off, Tommy
  3. 2009 27th Season Today I checked out the Deer Park Plunge site. There are some interesting rumors surrounding it. Other than removing the flume and station, there's been very little work done to the area. I believe this backs up the claim that the ride itself was unstable and was more a safety hazard than sitting on top of valuable real estate. Either way, I think it's doubtful that we'll see anything on this land until 2011 at the earliest. Bizarro's line was outrageous today, but that was probably due to the fact that only one train was being run. Same situation at Green Falcon... step it up Six Flags! Signing off, Tommy
  4. 2009 27th Season It's great to be back in South Carolina! I took a trip to the park today to check out the new Bizarro and Wii Experience. While I don't particularly care for the purple and blue color scheme, it does make a drastic change to the park's skyline. Even the entrance building has a new look. The fire effect is really great. [CD5 note: the knuckles will be fixed!] Wii Experience costs $10 to ride. Needless to say as a broke college student, I did not ride. Have a great day. Signing off, Tommy
  5. 2008 26th Season Well folks, today is my last day in South Carolina this year. It's been a fun summer. I think Tony Hawk was a great move for the park, as we've really been lacking a true family coaster. I've heard a few rides will receive new coats of paint next year. Hopefully Undertaker is one of them. I love this view of the park. I took one last ride on V2 before heading out. Goodbye, Six Flags. I'll see you again next year. Signing off, Tommy
  6. 2008 26th Season Well this is my last week in South Carolina before I return to school. There has been very little rumblings about next year, so I doubt we'll see anything major. Things aren't looking that great for the company, but hopefully we'll see a turnaround soon. Tony Hawk's Big Spin looks good from the parking lot... ...as well as from one of the spinning cars! I'm not sure why they ran an empty car. I'll have one more update before I leave. Signing off, Tommy
  7. 2008 26th Season Let's get right into today's update. I wonder if the park has any plans for this area besides Tony Hawk, because it looks like the entire area is dedicated to the coaster. It's a good location to handle the influx of crowds. The queues are being upgraded to include interactive features to hopefully make passing the time easier. Have a great weekend! Signing off, Tommy
  8. 2008 26th Season We're in late July which means I only have a few weeks left at the park before I return to school. I haven't heard many rumblings as far as next season goes, but I have heard that we'll see some general improvements (park infrastructure, new paint, etc.). While it's not that exciting, it's better than nothing. Apparently the Deer Park Plunge site will sit still for most of the first half of the season. Hmm... They've only been running one train on Superman which means longer lines. I took a spin on Scooby Doo today, something I haven't done in quite some time. It's still a great way to escape the heat! It's a fun ride for the family. Nighttime ride on Rebellion. Enough said! Signing off, Tommy
  9. 2008 26th Season I stopped by the park late this afternoon. The park did confirm that this is Deer Park Plunge's last season to operate. It's very sad to see one of the few last original attractions from the park's opening will soon close. The trees surrounding Undertaker have really grown up! Be sure to get your last rides on Deer Park Plunge before the season ends. I hope another water ride arrives at the park soon! I'll have another update soon. Signing off, Tommy
  10. 2008 26th Season We're in the middle of July and the weather is hot. This has been one of the hottest summers on record. Six Flags as a whole isn't doing well either. Hopefully we'll see them rebound next year, but I'm not so sure. The Great Swings is one of the oldest rides at the park... just an FYI. Let's go to the most popular attraction at the park! The lines have been incredibly long the last couple of weeks... ...which is interesting because the park hasn't been that crowded! Superman was down for a part of the day. I've been told that Deer Park Plunge's days are very numbered. Hmm... Green Falcon had a long line... but the ride was worth the wait. I'll have another update on Wednesday! Signing off, Tommy
  11. 2008 26th Season I went to the park for a few hours today. The crowds have been steady, not too heavy, but not light either. I guess this is so-so for Six Flags! I had no idea a Ben and Jerry's opened at the park this year! It's a very easy-to-miss location. The prices are outrageous. Don't say I didn't warn you! The crowds are still flocking to Tony Hawk. As well as the trampolines. The park's been different since I returned, but I can't put my finger on it. Hopefully things will pick up as this season progresses. Signing off, Tommy
  12. 2008 26th Season There hasn't been much activity around the old Chaos site. The large plot of land betweenTony Hawk's Big Spin and Batman is where SkyCoaster once stood. I would think that this area would make for prime real estate for another expansion. Wiggle's World, anyone? The Xtreme Trampolines are also very popular, but the price to jump is pretty high. The coaster is pretty intense for a "family" coaster. It doesn't have the best capacity, but the ride ops have done a good job keeping the lines moving. Signing off, Tommy
  13. 2008 26th Season Today was my first day back in town and, of course, the first thing to do was swing by the park to check out Tony Hawk's Big Spin. If you park in one of the east lots, you'll get a great close-up view of the coaster. It's great to be back here! The Gotham City Arcade was demolished to make a more obvious entry to this area of the park. There's lots of room for expansion in this corner of the park. You can't miss the entrance! As for the ride itself, it's not my favorite, although I'm sure the younger crowd loves it. I'll have more photos soon. Signing off, Tommy

  15. Hey guys, this is just a friendly reminder that tomorrow is the last day to vote! A few of the categories are very close. Vote here: http://www.coaster101.com/2011/03/20/attraction-awards-2011-vote/ The winners will be announced on Monday or Tuesday.
  16. I'm so excited about this ride. I can't wait to ride it this summer. Even though it's a "replica" of the Zippin Pippin, I'm sure it will still bring back some great memories.
  17. 2007 25th Season Well it's time that I head back to school. I've enjoyed being back home for the summer but I miss my school friends. I look forward to returning next summer. We'll start off this update with something interesting...land clearing! This area of the park has been dead since SkyCoaster left. It looks like that is all about to change! Whatever it is, I hope it's more exciting than Johnny Rocket's! I'm pulling for a wooden coaster, but I doubt that will happen with Six Flags' current financial situation and Shapiro's focus on the family. I'll miss riding Batman for a few months. Same with V2. The park was unusually crowded today. That's all for this season! I'll see you soon. Signing off, Tommy
  18. 2007 25th Season I tried to make a panoramic photo today, needless to say it didn't go so well. Undertaker gets awfully close to the seating area near the carousel. Hey look! Firebomb is open! Here is a good view of the lower-level area of the park. Panoramic of V2. Have a great day! Signing off, Tommy
  19. 2 Year Anniversary 2 years ago today, what was then Charleston Gardens Amusement Park had its first official updated posted to RCT communities across the internet. Since then, the park's changed quite a bit yet has maintained a consistent form of presentation by the narrator. It's become my longest-running park to date and by far my most favorite. I've spent hours upon hours building, modifying, and unfortunately, deleting. But it's all worth it because I thrive on sharing what I've done in the park with others. I'd like to thank everyone who has commented, offered criticism, or just looked at the countless updates I've posted in this two-year time period. As you have heard, this project will come to an end in May. I think I've gotten just about everything I can get out of this park, but don't worry, there are still some exciting things to come! - CD5
  20. 2007 25th Season This season has been slow. I think with the situation that Six Flags is currently in, all the parks are suffering. I just hope that we see some sort of activity in the next couple of years. With the influx of advertisments and the outrageous in-park prices, I can't see how this business model is going to pan out. I guess we'll see. I heard a bizarre rumor that all Intamin Impulse coasters at Six Flags parks will close at the end of this season. I don't believe it for a minute. Undertaker is in serious need of a new coat of paint! More in-park ads... The concert series has been nice. It's seemed to draw a lot of people to the park that don't normally visit. Goodnight! Signing off, Tommy
  21. Hey guys, the voting period has begun! The polls can be accessed here. Voting runs through March 27, 2011.
  22. 2007 25th Season I have more photos for you today! It's good to see this skyline regularly. Johnny Rocket's is normally busy, but not today! I like how some things never change, like the bridge. Superman actually broke down while I was in line, so I came back at night to ride. Nighttime rides are the best! Signing off, Tommy
  23. I understand you're basing this off best-case-scenario, but one main thing we don't know is how well the New Texas Giant is going to age. Sure, currently everything looks as if it's going swimmingly, but for all we know the Rocky Mountain treatment could turn out to be a maintenance nightmare in the future. That's like going back to the late 80s or early 90s and polling people on where they would like to see the next Dinn coasters built. After all, weren't Dinn coasters like Mean Streak and TG fairly decent rides when they were first built? But obviously not so much anymore. I know wouldn't want any new Dinn coasters built right now (yes, I know Dinn is defunct). It's really a poll to determine which coaster is in the greatest need of a renovation. You're absolutely right - coasters with the Rocky Mountain treatment could fail miserably in the future. Just a heads up: tomorrow is the last day to nominate! Voting will begin next week.
  24. 2007 25th Season I was at the park for most of the day today. I went with a large group of friends from high school so I didn't spend a lot of time taking pictures. However I did take note of a few interesting things within the park. - Six Flags is serious about making a profit. The in-park advertising is borderline intrusive. It's everywhere you go! - I've heard that the park has no plans for a major thrill ride for the next couple of years. This isn't good (for thrill seekers, at least). - I've also heard that we should expect to see more well-known food brands next season including Papa John's. Onto the photos: I heard that Batman was to be repainted this season but that it was called off at the last minute. It needs a new coat of paint! Perhaps a new color scheme is in order. One of my friends threw up after riding Gotham City Crime Wave. It'll do that to ya! I love closing down the park at night. It's fun to be one of the last ones to leave. As you can see here, the Greenway Cafe has been converted into a Johnny Rocket's quick serve location. Signing off, Tommy
