  1. Saw:Redemption premieres Thursday, October 28, 2010!
  2. Saw:Redemption October 28, 2010 SAW:REDEMPTION PREMIERES IN 9 DAYS! "You have three minutes to get to the other side."
  3. I took a trip to Six Flags over Georgia on Saturday. Fortunately, unlike the same trip last year, the temperature was warm and the skies were clear, but, unfortunately for my group, the nice weather brought the crowds. Although the lines were short during the morning hours, they quickly grew by mid-afternoon. The Fright Fest was somewhat weak compared to Six Flags Great America's (it's the only other one I've been to), but it wasn't bad by any means. Georgia Scorcher was the surprise of the trip. I had heard it was smooth but I really fell in love with the ride's compact layout and fast manuevers. The only employee problem we encountered during the entire day was “Destiny” who was stationed outside the entrance of Goliath. We entered the line around 8:30, after confirmation from another employee that we would would get on the ride if we entered the queue before 9:30. However, Destiny began telling the crowd that the wait time was two and a half hours and that we only had a 25% chance of getting on the ride. Some guests left the line, but others (including our group) were enraged and were dead set on getting on the ride. As people began arguing with her, she shouted at the crowd that she wanted to go home, threw her hands up in the air, and walked away. Luckily we got on the ride without problems, but her actions were tacky and uncalled for. Remember, Destiny, the guests always come first! But I applaud the other countless employees that were great hosts and hostesses to our group. We had a great day! Click here to see all of the pictures from the day. Ice cream and coasters? Who could ask for anything else? I've never understood the logo, but I totally get the coaster! Deconstruction of some existing structures is well underway for Dare Devil. Georgia Cyclone was nothing like SFGAm's Viper. Perhaps I shouldn't have sat in the back! Georgia Scorcher made me very happy. It was smooth as glass, a far cry from Iron Wolf's head bashing. Ninja wasn't nearly as painful as some Vekomas I've been on. The GASM was great. We were on the first train out of S:UF after a lengthy closure. It was a bit nerve wracking! I didn't get to ride Mindbender, unfortunately, as it was one of my favorite rides from last year. Batman looked great with its new coat of paint. But the 90 minute wait wasn't as great. More Goliath is never bad. I could smelll the chainsaws before I could see them. Wheelie Superman broke down again while we were in line. Ninja looks great at night. Red fog is never a good thing. Ghouls were chasing people through this tunnel of greenery. Georgia Scorcher at night was great. Goodbye Georgia Cyclone! See ya later! Thanks for reading.

  7. Saw:Redemption October 2010 Archbak’s "The Device" will be used as one of the many traps in Saw:Redemption. And don't forget about the "Design a Trap" contest! DESIGN A TRAP CONTEST YOUR TRAP MAY BE FEATURED IN SAW:REDEMPTION! - The Contest: Post pictures and/or video showing a Saw trap that you have created. The trap may only involve ONE victim, but the rest is in your hands - make it as twisted as you would like. The trap might be used in the final scene of Saw:Redemption. - Rules: You may use any ride or attraction, or not at all. But note, the trap must function in some way. Remember, this is going to be filmed! You must post your trap (photos or video) by October 1st, 2010. I will choose the one that I feel fits best into the film.
  8. 1999 21st Season It is with regret that I inform you that I will no longer be covering Six Flags South Carolina. Yesterday I was informed that the paper I write for was being downsized, and my "Everything Charleston" column will not be a part of the new streamlined edition. Luckily, however, I have been offered a columnist position at a paper in Dallas. I will be flying there next week with the family to house hunt. This is an unfortunate situation - I have become so attached to the park over the past six years. I hate that I am leaving the park at such a great time in its life. I have enjoyed seeing the park return from the dead. It's come incredibly far since 1990. Nearly a decade later, it's a thriving, vibrant amusement park that all can enjoy. I hope it stays that way. I would like to thank Joseph Reynolds and the entire team for being so gracious to me during my time here. Without their hospitality, I wouldn't have been able to write nearly as much about the park as I did. But before I depart for Dallas (I hear there is a Six Flags there as well!), I present my final update from the park: I hope the park continues to add fun rides such as Rebellion! I hope Vulture is still here when I return! And I hope this rumored new coaster is the best at the park! I don't want the park to change at all, really. But I know it will. I hope they eventually do something with the old Swan Boats station! Goodbye Charleston Gardens. Goodbye Six Flags. It's been a great time. Your friend, Joe I'm getting a little behind on the park due to school and other activities. I'm taking the rest of September and October to bulk up a little on SFSC. The park will return on November 1st, 2010 for the new millennium at SFSC. I'll see you then! - CD5
  9. 1999 21st Season We're in the dog days of summer and I've been told that track shipments have been arriving in Charleston nearly every day. These containers are being held in an off-site warehouse as crews begin to prep the ground for this supposed new coaster. We haven't been told anything more than that, but I'll be sure to keep you updated. Everybody wants to ride rebellion! I've even seen some younger kids challenging the ride. 26 stories is a lot taller than you think. The park's skyline never gets old. One more ride on Vulture won't hurt! Have a great night. - Joe
  10. 1999 21st Season I've been hearing a lot of things about next season. Some are saying to expect something small, while others are saying that Six Flags is going big for the new millenium. I'll keep you updated. A new eatery has opened next to Rebellion. Rebellion attracts even more attention at night. If you're scared of heights, it might be a little easier to ride at night. We can't forget about the other side of the park! Vulture has gotten pretty rough over the years. It's a classic, though! - Joe
  11. 1999 21st Season We're in the dead heat of the summer. The crowds are heavy, the lines are long, and there's little rain to give us any relief. The days are hazy... Coaster riding isn't as fun when it's this sweltering. That doesn't stop me from taking a spin on Undertaker, though! I've heard that we may see an even bigger coaster come to the park within the next three years. Once the sun begins to set, the temperature falls ever so slowly. I'm ready for the fall season! - Joe
  12. 1999 21st Season The 21st season continues and so far the crowds have been steady. The lines for Rebellion can still surpass the 2 hour mark! Hopefully that will die down as the season progresses. Sometimes I feel brave enough to want to ride it again! A nice view across the lake never hurt anyone. Derecho's new paint job looks great - the ride looks brand new (almost). I reported some time ago that Washout would be leaving. Those plans have apparently been cancelled. We need the rides to stick around longer! Batman is still a hit with guests! I better get out of the way! Have a great day! - Joe
  13. Saw:Remption Coming October 2010 Who said Shark Week was over?
  14. ^ No. The ride was scrapped. 1999 21st Season Rebellion is a hit! Lines for the ride have exceeded 2 hours this weekend! People really want to know what it's like to freefall 26 stories! That's quite a view! The tower is visible from just about anywhere in the park. Today was another crowded day! We can't forget about Undertaker! I'm looking forward to this season! - Joe
  15. 1999 21st Season Wow! We're finally at the park's 21st season, which ironically, is the last season before the 21st century arrives! This year's addition has broken the park's skyline... by a longshot! You can see Rebellion from miles around. And as one of the very first riders, I can say with confidence, it is the most terrifying ride at Six Flags South Carolina. Let's take a look at it! As you can see, the park's skyline looks different! The ride's logo is nice! The carriages seat four riders. You can ride with your friends! The carriages slowly rise to the top of the ride's highest point of 260 feet. You get a great view of the surrounding area! The anticipation builds as you near the top of the tower. You might find yourself asking, "Why did I do this?" As your carriage pauses at the top, seconds will seem like minutes. You might even close your eyes! Once the carriages are released, it's not so bad! But you do have a ways to go before you're back to Earth! I'll have more soon! - Joe
  16. 1999 21st Season SIX FLAGS ANNOUNCES REBELLION FOR 1999 SEASON CHARLESTON - Ride it if you're brave enough! Six Flags South Carolina's newest thrill ride will forever change the skyline of the popular South Carolina amusement park. Rebellion will slowly take riders 260 feet up in the air in six four-seat carriages. Then, after a short pause, riders will then plunge back to the earth, at speeds exceeding 70 mph. "We see this as another great investment for this park," manager Joseph Reynolds said. "We want to continue to push the envelope and offer world-class thrill rides at Six Flags South Carolina." Rebellion is being manufactured by IntaRide. The ride will become the tallest ride at the park. Season passes are on sale now. Rebellion will open in April of 1999.
  17. 1998 20th Season Today is the last day of the park's 20th season! It's been an excellent year, and the addition of Undertaker proves that this park is no longer a local amusement park. I think we can expect big things in the future! Through the loop! Everything is winding down! Except for Undertaker's line! Parachute Falls, 1975-1998 - Joe
  18. Saw:Redemption TRAILER PRECEDES BACKWARDS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_9w1xgW9gc CD5 returns this Halloween with Saw:Redemption, a sequel to 2009's Saw:Revolution. The film will be a direct sequel to Saw:Revolution, beginning immediately after the first ended. Saw:Redemption will be grungier, gorier, and grosser than its predecessor... get ready.
  19. 1998 20th Season We're nearing the end of the season, and still no word on what's coming next year. The park did confirm that Parachute Falls will remain open for the remainder of the season, so you have a little more time to get your last rides in! Both of the new rides in the Gotham Backlot were experiencing technical difficulties today. Thankfully Chaos opened later in the day. I'm not sure if Undertaker's ever been closed more than a few minutes since it opened. I'm curious to see if next year's attraction will top Undertaker... I guess we'll see! - Joe
  20. 1998 20th Season The park released a small press release today that stated that Parachute Falls will not return next season, but instead another yet-to-be-announced attraction will take its place. Yet another one of the original Charleston Gardens ride will leave us soon. The ride without a doubt provided some of the best views of the park. At least Derecho is safe for the time being. I think it was safe to say Undertaker wouldn't be leaving! Hopefully the park will announce the replacement attraction soon! - Joe
  21. 1998 20th Season I was told today that the city approved only one height variance request. But, I was also told that the variance has some strings attached. One of the park's taller rides will have to be removed in order for this new attraction to be built. Obviously the tallest attractions in the park are Derecho, Parachute Falls, and Undertaker. I think it's safe to rule out both Derecho and Undertaker. That leaves Parachute Falls as the only remaining tall attraction. Since there has been absolutely no sign of construction anywhere in the park, next year's new attraction might fit into Parachute Falls' footprint. I doubt a coaster will fit into that spot so it might be a flat ride of some sort. Hopefully the park will announce the ride soon. The park has yet to make an announcement about Parachute Falls' fate. But we can't make too many assumptions. There is a lot of unused space around the ride. I've heard that the theater might be removed in the coming years. I don't think this side of the midway will change too much next year. Vulture's had quite a rough season, it's been closed several days that I've gone to the park. Today was a good day for Thunder River. The Great Swings... swinging! I guess this could be the ride's final season! - Joe
  22. Hey guys. As I will be heading back to school soon, you might see updates go to every other day. Don't be alarmed. 1998 20th Season We're still a good ways away from the end of the season, but there are lots of whispers around the park about next season. I've heard everything from another coaster to nothing at all. We'll see! However, one thing has been confirmed for next season: Derecho will be repainted! The ride desperately needs it. There are still rumors that say Parachute Falls will be leaving at the end of the season. But I've heard that rumor for three years now. The park wouldn't be the same if you couldn't get a shot like this! - Joe
  23. 1998 20th Season Things are slowly gearing up for next season's new attractions. Yes, I said atractions! I've heard that the park has applied for height variance for two attractions which will exceed 200 feet in height. No word yet if either have been approved. We'll see how this goes! If you haven't put the puzzle pieces together yet, the park was originally set to receive a Mr. Freeze clone that is found at Six Flags St. Louis and Six Flags over Texas. However, the city denied their request, so we were given Undertaker! I've been told there might have been some rezoning done this past year so that it would be easier for Six Flags to build taller than the current 180 foot limit. The sun rises over Undertaker. A train speeds into the final brake run. I apologize for the excess of Undertaker photos! This new wider path really aleviates the crowding problems sometimes experienced on busy days... ...like today! What a classic shot... I'm really surprised, this area has been untouched since Six Flags bought the park. - Joe
  24. ^ KD, I just don't zoom out as far. That's why I couldn't get the entire park in one shot. 1998 20th Season I went to the park late yesterday on my way home from work. There isn't a whole lot going on as far as next season goes, but you can tell that Undertaker has brought in more guests - the park was packed! With new owners in place, everyone is waiting to see how Premier handles these parks. We should begin seeing the real changes in a year or two. Hopefully they are for the better! The Gotham Backlot lately hasn't been as crowded - I guess since it's the dead end of the park. Chaos was closed for most of the day. There's been very little movement in this area. It makes one wonder if this area of the park will ever be developed. "What do we ride next?" "Batman!" Undertaker is beautiful at night. Night rides on any rollercoaster are the best! - Joe
  25. I think the Memphis/Mid-South could support a smaller amusement park. The closest parks we have are Magic Springs and SFStL. Libertyland didn't survive because it was located in an undesireable part of town. I think even a small waterpark would do great here, especially duing the summer months.
