2003 25th Season Hello again! The park is now open for its 25th (operating) season! It hasn't been widely publicized that this is the park's 25th operating season because of the four years it was closed from Hugo and the fact that Six Flags has really only been operating the park since '94. But all the cups, park maps, etc. do feature the above logo. That must be Skycoaster! This whole new little alcove is home to both Skycoaster and the Picnic Grove (not pictured). The area is easy to miss! The steam is coming from the train, not Undertaker. Bugs Bunny National Park id doing well, although there's still no path connection to the Gotham City Backlot. These midway games will robb you of all your money! Signing off, Tommy

As said many times here, if a park wants to build a big attraction such as a coaster, they'll find the room. And finding room doesn't always mean taking out other attractions. With a little creativity and perhaps some shifting around, alot can be fit into a tight space. /Wow that last sentence sounded great.

2003 Announcement CHARLESTON - New this year at Six Flags South Carolina is SKYCOASTER, a unique flying thrill ride contraption which will allow riders to plunge nearly 200 feet. Three riders are strapped in face towards the ground before being pulled up to the ride's highest point. After a short pause, it's all downhill from there. The ride acts as a giant swing with the strapped-in riders swaying back and forth until safely stopping back at the loading dock. This ride is not for those afraid of heights! The ride will cost an extra fee. Also new at the park this year is Picnic Grove. Six Flags South Carolina expands their group-handling capabilities with seven large picnic pavillions which will be able to handle more large groups than ever before. 2003 Season Passes are on sale now and can be purchased at SixFlags.com/SouthCarolina

2002 24th Season Next season's announcement will take place tomorrow! This has been a huge year for the park, with the addition of Bugs Bunny National Park. It really feels like a complete amusement park experience. For the first time since May, the temperature dipped below 60 degrees! Undertaker's lighting is beautiful at night. Batman... not as much. But I prefer to ride its twisted layout in the dark. I'll see you next season! The big announcement is tomorrow! Signing off, Tommy

MERRY CHRISTMAS! Thanks to everyone who participated in the Christmas Card Contest! There were some incredible designs submitted. Here are three that I really thought stood out (in no particular order): OKSIRYDOC at RCTLounge Orex at Shyguy's World Jeff at Shyguy's World 2002 24th Season Hello once again! Work has officially begun on next year's addition and although we have no idea what it will be, there seems to be a ton of land involved: There's a very large plot of cleared land behind Backlot Commissar and the arcade. Other than that, there hasn't been alot of development anywhere else. I wonder if they could be expanding the Gotham area once again... I was hoping they would expand Bugs Bunny National Park and connect that area with the Gotham Backlot. I guess that will happen some other time. Goodbye for now! Signing off, Tommy

Merry Christmas Eve! Today is the last day to enter a card in the Christmas Card Contest! The top three winners (from ALL forums) will be announced tomorrow! Update 2002 It is with great regret that I relay some very sad news with you. Early this morning Michael May, one of the park's original founders passed away in his New York home. He was surrounded by his family. Today the park's flags flew at half-staff in rememberance of one of the men that was vital in this park's starting. Although I never met him, I know that he will always be remembered by the older locals here. The park was pretty crowded. Most people were not aware of May's passing. Rebellion was closed for a couple hours after the park opened but was operational by noon. It had been a while since I had taken a ride on the bumper cars! The sun begins to set... I think the park is even more beautiful at night. Rest in Peace, Michael May. Thank you for leaving such an incredible legacy. Signing off, Tommy

2002 24th Season The hot days of July are here. The days are long and sweltering. I somehow managed to stay at the park for the better part of today. Mainstreet is alive and well! Thunder River had a 2-hour line, so I heard some people would get a "breeze" on Rebellion. There was some relief after the sun set. Despite the heat, it was a good day! Signing off, Tommy

Don't forget about the Christmas Card Contest! Entries are due this Friday! 2002 24th Season We're about halfway through the season so people are beginning to whisper about what next season might bring. I actually haven't heard alot so far, except that there will be one large attraction, and then an "amenity." I'm not sure what they meant by that. Batman is always a great way to start off the day. There was a good crowd at the park today! The Undertaker crew was moving trains through the station very quickly, preventing the line from ever getting too long. I think this train is ready to go! Don't forget about Superman!

2002 24th Season Hello everybody! The summer season is now underway and you can definitely see more families at the park now with the opening of Bugs Bunny National Park. I'm glad the area has been a success. A show featuring Bugs and his gang shows here a few times each day. Tugboat Turnover is a real fun little ride. It's great for the whole family. Today I heard a rumor that Vortex might be leaving us. I hope not, as it's one of the more thrilling flatrides in the park. Goodbye! Signing off, Tommy

2002 24th Season I think describing today as "rainy" would be an understatement! Luckily, however, there were breaks in the rain so I did get to ride a few rides before leaving. Uh oh, this doesn't look good! Although, falling faster than the raindrops on Rebellion was cool. Rides would operate for a while and then shut down again when the rain would pick back up. Later in the day the clouds began to clear. The park had for the most part emptied out. I guess people gave up after playing games with the rain. A few stuck around to get one last ride on RoadRunner Railway. Signing off, Tommy

2002 24th Season I went by the park last night, and for a Friday night it was pretty busy! V2 had a pretty lengthy line when I first got to the park. Gotham City Backlot wasn't quite as busy. Undertaker was down for about an hour. I think someone barfed on one of the trains! Bugs Bunny National Park is incredibly seclusive. Until next time! Signing off, Tommy

2002 24th Season Below are some more photos from opening day. It's been a week since the area opened and I've been told that the crowds are even bigger this weekend. Word of mouth, folks, word of mouth! Superman is still considered the best coaster at the park by most. Although we can't forget about the classics! Bugs Bunny Fort Run will be great for those sweltering July afternoons! I was told that some themeing is still yet to be put up. Opening weekend lines are always short when there's no new coaster! More soon! Signing off, Tommy

2002 24th Season Hello once again! Today is opening day and I have finally experienced Bugs Bunny National Park and it is a hit! This area is just what the park needed. We finally have a kids area! The area has an entrance of its own between Tidal Wave and Vulture. The area is basically a dead end, but I hear that it will eventually be expanded to reach Gotham City Backlot, making a complete loop. The area is heavily wooded - if it wasn't for Superman I'd forget I was at Six Flags South Carolina! The Fort Run might be my favorite part of the entire area. The giant structure has lots of little interactive areas for kids, and don't forget the giant bucket of water that tips over every few minutes! The new train station is a huge plus for people that don't want to walk all the way from the front of the park to the back. Tweety's Twee House is a great ride for the little ones. I'll have more pictures from opening day tomorrow! Signing off, Tommy

2002 24th Season Hello all! We are only a few weeks away from opening weekend and the city is eagerly anticipating the opening of Bugs Bunny National Park. The local newspaper showed the following photo in today's edition: The photograph shows the nearly-completely train station. I can't wait for opening weekend! Signing off, Tommy

2001 23rd Season Six Flags will announce plans for the 2002 season on Monday! I'm very excited to hear what the park intends to do with that large plot of land I photographed a few weeks ago. Here's another shot of the plot of land. Perhaps this new addition will connect Harbortown with the Gotham City Backlot It appears as if Indigo Plunge is safe for another year. I took advantage of the short lines and took a ride on V2. Hangtime on V2 never gets old. Everybody looks like ants from the top of the tower. The park was pretty crowded today. Thanks for reading! I'll see you next season. Signing off, Tommy

2001 23rd Season I apologize for not updating the website over the past couple of weeks. After the attacks I haven't been quite up for going to the park, but I did drop by the park the weekend before the 11th and got some interesting photos: A lot of land clearing is going on in the area behind Tidal Wave. The park should make an announcement regarding 2002 any day now. V2's reliability seems to be improving. Batman was closed for a portion of the day today. Let's go this way! It was a nice day at the park. Signing off, Tommy

If you're buying a Christmas gift for a fellow coaster enthusiast, finding the right one isn't exactly easy. I've gathered a few possible gift ideas for that special patch jacket wearing friend. Feel free to add to the list! I'm sure I'm missing quite a few. What better way to start this list: The latest installment of TPR's "Roller Coasters: In the Raw" series, Volume 5 is available for only $9.99 in the Theme Park Review store. The DVD features raw, music-free coaster footage of more than 30 coasters from across the globe. This is a great gift or stocking stuff for any coaster enthusiast. Do you like assembling your Christmas presents? The Lego Carousel is right up your alley. It's a bit pricey at $249.99 on Amazon, but the carousel "spins and plays music while the horses and swing boats move up and down." This is the perfect addition for any special edition collection. Are you looking for a gift for someone who enjoys reading up on history? The Holiday World is the perfect gift! The Images of America series showcases historic photos of amusement parks, towns, etc. The Holiday World edition is no different! I own several books in the series and I have thoroughly enjoyed each book. The book is available for around $17 on Amazon. Or you can get get a personalized, autographed copy signed by Pat Koch herself if you order through Holiday World's website! The Theme Park game is great for all gamers with a Nintendo DS gaming system. For around $40 on Amazon, you get a miniature amusement park tycoon game in the palm of your hand. As the product features state, you can "control everything, from the speed of your rides to the amount of ice in your drinks." Another great book for any readers is the American Amusement Park book. The "photographic retrospective distills more than 100 years of the sights, sounds, smells and thrills associated with the American amusement park." The book is available for around $112 on Amazon. The Rollercoasters 2011 wall calendar is a great way to keep up with important dates while also showcasing your love for coasters. "This calendar features 12 of the hottest roller coasters of today." The Rollercoasters calendar is available for $12.97 on Amazon. You can view a few more gift ideas here.

2001 23rd Season No news lately, the park should make an announcement within the next few days. I've heard that ground clearing has begun across the lake besides the lower part of Vulture. The train has also closed for the remainder of the season. Hmmm... Undertaker's still doing its thing. Today was a great day for a ride on Thunder River. Gotham City Backlot has remained unchanged since it opened a few years ago. Emerald Bay has changed quite a bit since it opened! Signing off, Tommy

2001 23rd Season We're in the dead heat of August and I only have a few photos to share today but I do have some good news. The local newspaper has confirmed that Six Flags will be making another large capital investment in the park for the 2002 season. They did not say what type of investment, though. But at least we know for sure that big things are coming to the park! I've heard that Derecho will soon become a historical landmark! This should guarantee its upkeep in the future. V2 has been experiencing some technical issues lately but I hear that those problems should be resolved by next season. I'll bring you frequent updates on next season! Things should get interesting soon! Signing off, Tommy

2001 23rd Season I've heard some interesting rumors about the future of Six Flags South Carolina recently. Some are saying that the park will continue with its mega-coaster building pattern. However, there are some holes in this theory. If Six Flags continues to build these thrill rides, the ratio of thrill rides to family rides will become unbalanced. I guess we'll see within a few weeks what they have up their sleeves for next year. Derecho is still the only wooden coaster in the park. I've heard this could change in the near future. It's still a classic, though. I wonder if future coasters will ever top Superman in height. We need more looping coasters as well. I'll keep you updated on any developments. Signing off, Tommy

2001 23rd Season I haven't been to the park in a couple of weeks so I decided to check it out earlier today. I've heard work will soon begin on next year's addition, which is supposed to be the biggest the park has seen in a while! Oh hello, Six Flags! The lines were moderate - the longest I waited for a coaster was about 30 minutes. V2 usually has a longer line due to its one-train operation. Superman's lines have definitely shortened since V2's opening. This is only a hunch - but I wonder if Indigo Plunge will be removed to make way for next year's addition... Signing off, Tommy
