  1. Thanks guys! 1998 20th Season I was given some great satellite shots of the park last week. It's great to see such a great overview of the park. Special thanks goes to Joseph Reynolds for these images! CLICK ON THE IMAGES TO SEE LARGER 1200x675 SIZE Here the entrance plaza and Atlantic Avenue can be seen. The Gotham Backlot extends farther back into the park. The upper level of the park is basically a large loop. You'll find several of the park's themed areas up here. Thanks again to Joseph Reynolds for letting us see these! - Joe
  2. 1998 20th Season The summer season has begun! The park is now open daily and the crowds are starting to pick up! I've talked to alot of out-of-towners today who stopped by the park just to ride Undertaker! Word really gets around! One couple came from Virginia just to see what a floorless coaster was like. They loved it! The ride operators have done a tremendous job filling the seats on the train - you rarely see a train with empty seats. The park painted the theater's show building - the blue doesn't seem to stand out as much. It blends in with the sky! It's a tall ride - that's for sure. Another train full of riders prepares to challenge Undertaker. I heard from a food vendor that Washout is on its way out. Anybody know more about this? It got my hand on some great satellite shots of the park - I'll have those up very soon! - Joe
  3. ^ I used Moby's Steel Jungle V1 which can be downloaded here: http://www.meganaut.com/msj.html
  4. 1998 20th Season The park's been open for a couple of weeks now and the guests seem to be liking Undertaker! I see Undertaker! Roadrunner Express is still the smallest coaster in the park! I don't know if that will ever change. That's a tight turn! First drop. Let's not forget about Batman! - Joe
  5. ^ Agreed. After discovering the magic of splitting parks (and getting a nicer computer), I have no real problems with the game. Sometimes it lags, sometimes it doesn't. Now as far as building large parks go, forget it about it. The game can't handle big files. But if you learn to work with the game, you can make it work for you.
  6. 1998 20th Season Undertaker opened today, and after waiting an hour to ride, I can say it was well worth the ride! The ride begins with a straight climb to the 120 foot mark. It's only 5 feet shorter than Derecho! You quickly gain some speed as you make a 270 degree turn after the lift. The first drop is only about 75 feet - you don't drop all the way to the ground... yet. The train speeds into the first immelman turn, and the train then drops 100 feet as it exits that loop. You gotta love terrain coasters! The train speeds through a short section of straight track as it speeds through a vertical loop. The train then heads into somewhat of a rollover element. The train then passes through the vertical loop before plunging to the left. Once again you're hugging the ground for a split second before you glide over the midway towards the MCBR. Sitting in the back provides some great air on the drop immediately following. The train is sent through a corkscrew element before heading through the final turnaround segment, which includes a pop of airtime! Before you know it, the ride is over! It's a short ride, but a lot of fun as well. Arriving at the park later in the day did help - I heard the line was 3-4 hours long at opening! The ride has a perfect lakeside setting. It's true - there isn't a floor! The first drop isn't the biggest! The immelman turn gives a unique sensation! Now this is the biggest drop! The now smaller former Gully Gulch Grill patio gives a great view of Undertaker. More twists and turns - a lot is packed into this small area! I'll have some more photos of Undertaker tomorrow! - Joe
  7. 1998 20th Season If you haven't heard by now, Six Flags has been bought by a group called Premier Parks. This will surely make things interesting in the future. But more importantly, Undertaker will open next weekend! The park has already opened for the season, so I was able to get some great shots of the ride. You can definitely tell the skyline has changed at Six Flags South Carolina! Most of Undertaker's twisted layout is located next to Thunder River. The ride's bright color scheme really makes it stand out. Riders will experience one final pop of airtime on this hill before returning to the station. The train is running in the opposite direction this season to give riders a better view of Undertaker. The path which runs from the lower level of the park to the upper level has been widened. I can't wait to ride it! I'll see you next weekend! - Joe
  8. That's incredible. I'll be happy if I can still ride them at 60!
  9. Griffon, I did not take any screens of the Mr. Freeze track. It was just the track, nothing fancy. ^ That's a good way to put it. This is B&M's 'Drachen Fire'. The two turns do count as inversions because the train completely inverts - at least in RCT3 they do.
  10. This is a great idea - has anyone considered doing the equivalent for RCT3? I'd be willing to start it!
  11. ^ What's unrealistic about it? I'm just curious.
  12. 1998 20th Season This sounds like an incredible ride! WATCH THE UNDERTAKER VIDEO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2xpFfWk9z4 Undertaker will dominate the park's skyline. Undertaker... the world's first floorless coaster. Undertaker's twisted layout. WATCH THE UNDERTAKER VIDEO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2xpFfWk9z4
  13. Something from the games forum on the homepage? I don't think that's possible!!!
  14. No no no. Read carefully: IT WON'T BE THAT RIDE.
  15. So many good guesses! Some are more right than others, though. 1997 19th Season Believe it or not, we've come to the end of the 1997 season. Time flies when you're having run, right? Today is Sunday - I would hope that the announcement would take place tomorrow... Who knows? I've heard that pieces of the new ride have already begun arriving, but Six Flags is keeping them out of the public eye. Hmm... I wonder if the new ride will top Batman in height. Hopefully it will be more intense than Vulture. We do know it's a prototype, so it will be like nothing we've ever seen before. Chaos was open all day today! I realized a show hasn't been seen here all season. I hope they put it to better use next season. All the restaurants started to close - I realized I didn't have much time. I'm tried to squeeze in as many rides as I could before the gates closed for the season. See you soon! - Joe
  16. Atari is taking suggestions for the next RCT game: http://forums.atari.com/showthread.php?t=6853 Interesting! Could this finally be the RCT4 we've all been waiting for? It sounds like they're in the brainstorming stage right now.
  17. ^ If they know it won't fit, and they don't have any plans to install it, why not sell it to another park? Revolution was my first looping coaster - I'd hate to see it scrapped.
  18. ^ What happened to the Revolution coaster that was purchased from Libertyland? Have plans to rebuild it been scrapped?
  19. UPDATE: If you liked CD5Productions on Facebook, relike the page. I had to make a new one. The twitter is still the same. I've already posted a couple of teasers! 1997 19th Season I've been told that the new ride will be a prototype of some kind. Hmm... Scooby Doo was closed for a couple hours earlier in the morning but reopened around noon. I heard the Greenway Cafe will be closing within a few years. I wonder what will replace it... Tidal Wave looks lonely over here! Hopefully the park will change that in a few years. Derecho desperately needs a new coat of paint! Fortunately, though, the ride itself is in decent shape. I hope it sticks around for years to come! The new ride's announcement will happen sometime early next week. - Joe
  20. ATTENTION: FOLLOW CD5 ON TWITTER AND FACEBOOK FOR #SFSC1998 CLUES! 1997 19th Season It's been two weeks since Viper closed, and the ride is already gone. There is no word yet on whether or not the ride will be sold or moved to another Six Flags park. The day after Viper closed, its signage was gone. The train was removed from the track. Within a week, the ride's iconic loop disappeared. And now, two weeks later, everything is gone. A large tract of dirt remains. Whatever's coming next year is gonna be big. I'll keep you updated. - Joe
  21. ^ I don't know if this would ever come close to the epicness of Mitch's poll, but it never hurts to think big! I think next year we're going to do away with the humor and photoshop categories and put more emphasis on true photography. I'm open to any and all suggestions! There's always room for improvement.
  22. The results are in! Congrats to all the winners! http://www.coaster101.com/2010/08/11/coaster101-2010-photo-contest-results/
  23. ATTENTION: FOLLOW CD5 ON TWITTER AND FACEBOOK FOR #SFSC1998 CLUES! 1997 19th Season Today we take one final ride on Viper. Viper was well known for being the tallest coaster at the park. Derecho will soon reclaim that title. It was no secret that Viper has been experiencing a decline in ridership. With newer rides such as Batman, the "old-school" Viper didn't stand much of a chance. But when the ride first opened, it wasn't uncommon to wait hours to get a ride on the Heatwave. So it is sad to say that we bid farewell Viper. We thank it for the countless years of fun rides. The Six Flags South Carolina skyline will never be quite the same. - Joe
  24. ^ The shape surrounding the "CP 1870" makes me think of a Star Flyer.
