Six Flags Great America X-Flight Media Day
coasterdude5 replied to mcjaco's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Great pictures! I wish I had known TPR was going to be there as well! Overall, I thought the park did a very nice job with the entire event. The geese flyover during the ribbon-cutting ceremony really sealed the deal for me. -
AeroWing and Wii:Air First, I've created a mock up of what a guest might experience while riding AeroWing. Watch the POV video below: WII:AIR Wii:Air will be one of the many family-friend attractions at EarthQuest Adventures, and the only 4D ride at the park. Guests waiting in line will be split into two groups and will then be led into two separate large theaters... ...where they will be treated to a 4D adventure through the different layers of the atmosphere. Each rider will be equipped with a simplified Nunchuck-style controller which will allow them to shoot at various pollutants in the atmosphere. Each theater will be pitted against the other to see which group of guests can gain the most points. The ride will include 3D effects, surround sound, and a slew of other effects such as water and fog. I'll reveal more information soon. -Greg

Andy Shine's Quiz Time

14/20 Some guessing, but I knew more than I thought I would. -
Moving Forward It seems as though designing a theme park is a long and tedious process, and it is. Just think, in six months, I've designed (about) a fifth of a theme park. One fifth! Above is an overview of the Sky area. AeroWing will surely be the backdrop of many photographs. I think this might be used as a promotional shot. Riders will love feeling as though they are skimming the water. Keep it tuned here. Things will soon pick up! -Greg

A Light at the End of the Tunnel Slowly but surely, Sky is coming together. I plan on having the land finished by the end of next month. It's hard to believe I've been working on this one piece of EarthQuest Adventures for over six months! Thanks for sticking with me. Sky looks different from every angle. Wii are going to learn a lot more about this attraction in the coming days. AeroWing towers over the rest of the Sky area. And I'll leave you with a teaser for one of the most technologically-advanced attractions at EarthQuest Adventures. I'll reveal more information soon. -Greg

EarthQuest Updates So what's going on in the world of EarthQuest Adventures? Well, not a whole lot lately. I've been working on a lot of the "nitty gritty" aspect of the design, most of which is not very visually appealing. However, I do have a few screens that you might enjoy. A view of the Sky area from "The Grove." The Sky area with the "secret attraction" in the background. Details on that will be released soon! I can't wait to actually ride AeroWing! What better way to end an update than a shot of the Sky area at EarthQuest Adventures. More soon! -Greg

Green Thumb This week I've been working with the team to develop some of the landscaping in and around the Sky area. We're working on a patio-like area for the Dippin Dots eatery. But behind this area will be "The Grove," a live demonstration of clean, fresh air. Guests will be able to buy picnic meals and relax underneath the trees or out in the sun on soft, green grass. This will be very unique to EarthQuest Adventures as most theme parks discourage guests from leaving the path. At EarthQuest, we encourage it! Enjoy the Earth. I'll have more soon! -Greg

Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
coasterdude5 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I hate to gripe about petty things, but I'm really not a fan of the station, especially the bathrooms below. The ride itself looks great, and I know that the station won't affect the ride experience at all, but I wish they had made it look a little bit more detailed. I guess I was spoiled by Wild Eagle's station. For a ride as intense and grand as SkyRush, I was hoping for a slightly more complex station. And I hope someone doesn't enter the bathrooms thinking that's the line! Again, I hate complaining. The station's just really been bugging me. -
^ Yes, separate files. Sky's almost complete...almost. The Sky area of EarthQuest Adventures is slowly but surely taking shape. The Blue Line station has greatly changed the look of this part of AeroWing. Stratosphere is still the tallest attraction in the Sky area. Playing around with some filters for an AeroWing promotional shot. More soon! - Greg

I was at the park this past weekend and was overall very impressed with the park. I've never been to SFSTL on opening weekend before so I wasn't sure what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. It was a shame that Mr. Freeze: Reverse Blast wasn't ready yet, the park is really marketing the heck out of it. All of the photos I took can be found here. Bonzai Pipeline is coming along nicely. Not quite ready. I was sorta hoping they would be running one train forwards. Sad Mr. Freeze.

Just keep building. I'm hearing some whispers about a possible EarthQuest Adventures funding collapse, but I'm going to ignore those and continue working on the design of what will surely be a great park. The new Blue Line trains really look nice on the track. I've begun working on the facade for the prototype 4D attraction. It's far from being completed. More updates soon! -Greg
-
Tweak Tweak Tweak I'm constantly making tweaks to the design. That's the beauty of the design change (and having a lot of time as more financing is secured). As shown in the previous update, the new Blue Line trains look much better. Aerowing's two bunny hills preceding the brake run have been combined into one to prevent the train from valleying. Right now I'm working on a very exciting attraction. We are partnering with a very popular gaming console to bring a hybrid prototype 4D experience to EarthQuest Adventures... I'll share more details soon. -Greg

The Wait is Over Alright, so what will take the place of that slab of concrete? If you guessed a bathroom, you are correct! This will be a state-of-the-art restroom facility which will be green-certified. I've switched out the style of The Blue Line's train for a more realistic one. Thoughts? More soon! -Greg

More Blue Line progress Blue Line is changing the appearance of the Sky area greatly. The Sky area has changed drastically with the addition of Blue Line. The Blue Line station. This view of AeroWing has changed with the addition of the Blue Line. Here's an overview of the Sky area. There's still several spots still left to fill in. -Greg

Take a Ride on the Blue Line Hello again! The past week I've been working the Blue Line, a ride which will travel around the Sky area. The Blue Line will take guests on a guided tour around the Sky area and will focus on the live agricultural demonstrations in progress behind the rides and attractions. The station's not done quiet yet, but it's progressing nicely. The ride definitely changes the look of the Sky area. Check back soon. I'll have more Blue Line updates this week. -Greg

Thank you guys for the comments. I'm glad the project was missed! Nighttime at EarthQuest Here are a few shots of what the Sky area will look like at nighttime. It will be bright to say the least (thanks to energy-efficient lighting, of course). Here's the same shot from last update, only as seen at night. I'm still working on the lighting for the AeroWing station. I'll keep you posted. -Greg
-
And We're Back! I apologize for the delay in updates. I've been working on some fine details of the park that aren't very photo-worthy. I guarantee though that the design is still moving forward! So without further delay, here are the latest EarthQuest Adventures shots: Stay tuned for an Aerowing video coming soon! A Dippin Dots stand will fit in perfectly with our "futuristic" area! I'm still working on Stratosphere's queue. Guests will be able to see the agriculture demonstrations while waiting in line. Stay tuned for more! -Greg

I've really enjoyed following all of this klassiness unfold. I've never been on a cruise, so I'm obviously sub-n00b level as far as cruise ships go, but they make these cruises look so nice on the commercials. They cleverly hide all the overweight people and gross food. They must have a great marketing team!

TPR Facebook Page Cover Photo Contest
coasterdude5 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Honestly, I really like the Olympia Looping photo that you have up there right now. I think any sort of "montage" or collection of photos that you have as a cover photo will get dated after a while and will require updating. Here's what I like about the current cover photo. Olympia Looping makes me think of Oktoberfest, which makes me think of beer and fun, which makes me think of TPR. I know that's a lot of connecting the dots, but I think you get my point. That picture says a lot. Out of the examples you linked to, my favorites were the ones that were simple images (i.e. Starbucks, Facebook, etc.). Most of the montage examples made the page seem cluttered. If anything, maybe someone could Photoshop the iconic TPR donkey in front of the photo somewhere, as if it were jumping into the shot to say hello. -
Reaching Towards the Sky You may have heard the EarthQuest resort mentioned in the news lately. As of this posting, my work has not been affected by the bankruptcy blabber. I'll keep you all updated as this progresses. I know we all want to see the park come to fruition. The entrance to AeroWing looks very nice at dusk. Stratosphere's 180-foot-tall tower will provide some excellent views of the park. Stay tuned! -Greg

Stratosphere Station I've been working on STRATOSPHERE, a launched free-fall tower that will call the "Sky" area home at EarthQuest Adventures. Above you can see the basic structure of the enclosed station. There's still a lot of work left to be done on the building as well as the surrounding plaza. The "Sky" area is slowly starting to come to life. Once EarthQuest Adventures opens this will surely be a popular photo to take. Check back soon. I'm working on a lot this week! -Greg
