  1. ^Well, the "feast" part was OK last year, but the magic show that came with it was pretty lame. Is it a different show this year?
  2. ^After riding Dragon this summer, I agree that it is quite bad--but I think Ninja at SF St. Louis might be a bit worse.
  3. ^I imagine after drinking two of those huge steins, the exact amount imbibed would become irrelevant to the drinker from that point on.
  4. Ah, the scream cam! BGW strapped one of those to my chest a few years back. It was a bulkier model, and I could hardly see where I was going. Looks like a great media day, Adam. Still have all your fingers?
  5. The excessive number of "fire exit" signs in the Ghost Train cracked me up in 2006. I guess safety is Coney Beachs's top priority.
  6. I'm surprised that Joe and Joey made it out of those funhouses alive. They'd be tough to navigate while sober.
  7. This topic has been covered pretty well over in the "Ask Alvey" section: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=35963#p392923. Thank you.
  8. A Miler "Kersplash Water Coaster"? I've never even heard of this model.
  9. Nice to see pictures of the now finished Fulch von Novgorod station--it looks great! I'll have to experience it in its finished glory one of these days.
  10. My congratulations to Joe and Joey for not being flung to their deaths. I'd have trouble enough with that conveyor belt while sober.
  11. ^What they did at Grona Lund was pretty cool. The coaster is themed to a witch flying on her broomstick, and the "fire tree" is located across from their haunted-house walkthrough. The fire goes off everytime a train passes overhead.
  12. Kvasten is a very good Vekoma suspended ride, too--and it has fire!
  13. ^Sounds like Moser is building some sort of "customized" drop tower. I'm looking forward to this new Oktoberfest.
  14. A coworker visited Potterville with her family last week. They really enjoyed it, but got a bit snookered in one of the gift shops. Their son wanted a wand and a robe. The robe cost 100 bucks! For 100 bucks, that robe better conjure up a case of Arrogant Bastard Ale on demand.
  15. As well you should. Most of my friends will testify that I'm pretty bad at shooting dark rides, even though I enjoy them. Yet I usually manage to come in at third place on Desperado pretty consistently--and, yes, more than three people were playing at the time.
  16. ^I believe the Chickahominy tribe was running the park back in 1212. Then Sir Walter Raleigh came along, bought them out for case of Guinness, and slapped a European theme on the place.
  17. ^No. Usually, Piers sounds like Christian Bale when he's playing Batman.
  18. ^Indeed. I felt a little drunk from just watching the videos.
  19. ^I'm more curious about the extra "surprises" than the theming (although I think it'll be colorful enough for Oktoberfest). Tilting seats? Maybe a "fake" initial drop? Remember that 2011 is about more than just adding a drop tower; it's about revamping Oktoberfest, as well. Busch has always been more about the overall experience, rather than individual rides.
  20. ^Agreed--followed by riding Jaws in Japan! ^^I hope this issue with Rockit is resolved. The ride is a lot of fun (especially the noninverting loop).
  21. OK, I think I'm drunk from just reading all that.
  22. I thought you might like that, Guy. Call it . . . a hunch.
  23. Thank you for spending your money, so I don't have to spend mine.
  24. I agree--a drop tower is something that Busch has never had, so I think it's a good choice. I'm hoping that the river plays a part in the new coaster, too. A steep drop toward the water followed by a launch into the gully would be great.
  25. Gettin' Ready to Sacre: Howl-o-Scream 2010 Prep Good lord, I haven't done anything with this thread since July! I have, indeed, been remiss; then again, August was kind of busy with TPR's Mid-America Trip and such, and then I got involved in that TR. And, frankly, the park has been marking time a bit in August, preparing for the unveiling of its two-year plan (see the BGW Discussion Thread for more about this.) After seeing the park's presentation, and taking advantage of a 30 percent meal discount for annual passholders that day, I wandered around the park to see how preparations for my favorite annual event, Howl-o-Scream, were coming along. Ravens seem to be the controlling element this year. Would you like to see for yourself? Follow me . . . I'm always happy to see these signs around the park. But first, a bit of lunch--about $13 with that one-day extra discount. Thank you, BGW! "Brawk! Nevermore! Brawk!" "Hello! I'm your official Howl-o-Scream greeter ghoul. Don't I look stylish in my derby? What? you don't like derbies? Then you DIE!" (Inside joke: Scott Gasparich is the park's VP of entertainment.) Mr. Reaper is ready and raring to go. What's everywhere? Oh, the "scare." Did I mention that ravens were a big deal this year? Do you know how long it takes to grow a pumpkin this size? Do you know how much manure it requires? Monster Stomp: Revamped will be back in Ireland, along with these hot witches . . . . . . and a little something for those of you are not so into the ladies. "Hello. I'm that stately bird of yore that you've read so much about. Being 'stately' won't stop me from crapping on you, though." Aw, may I pet your cute little rat? What a sweet rodent. Get a room, you two. Looks like the exterminators are having trouble keeping up with France's rat problem. I'd definitely call the landlord about this. This was the only HOS-related object in Fort New France--so far. The Alpengeist bridge is ensnared in the TWINE OF DOOM! Yep--another raven. Frankenrock--if you're into that. I think I would've called this "Rockenstein," but I guess that's just me. Looks like they're stocking up on vampire protection over by the old Drachen Fire station. Bottles! Bottles in Italy! Oh my god! "Soon, I will return as a 'living disease'!" "Actually, all of us will. You've been warned." Even the Forest of Fun is getting ready. I think Count von Count is joining the "Dine with Elmo and Friends" crew for HOS, too. Noted! HOS starts on September 24!
