  1. I liked Up, myself; actually, I think Pixar has been getting more daring since Cars. How many animated movies have a character die in the first ten minutes? (Haven't seen the latest Toy Story yet.) I wasn't crazy about Plague Dogs (novel wasn't all that hot, either) but Watership Down was very good.
  2. Seems a trifle odd to me, too.
  3. Hmm--let's see . . . Disneyland Knott's Berry Farm Six Flags Magic Mountain Busch Gardens Williamsburg Kings Dominion Carowinds Lake Winnie Six Flags Over Georgia Nickelodeon Universe Adventureland Worlds of Fun Silver Dollar City Six Flags St. Louis Holiday World Six Flags Great America Mt. Olympus Timber Falls Valleyfair Wisconsin State World's Fair Wisconsining World of Vince Lombardi DeFazio Studios The Madison County Spook Zone Mickey Dolenz Not-So-Scary Halloween Party
  4. Starting any construction in Oktoberfest during Christmas Town would be pretty tricky, but not impossible--curious to see how the park handles it.
  5. I was just pleased to see people riding in the Timberliners. I'm very curious about these new trains and look forward to riding in them myself.
  6. My response is "Heavens to Murgatroyd." Why would one assume that? I-305 is a great ride and huge investment for the park.
  7. First, I blame myself for temporarily derailing this thread with an off-topic "winkie" joke. My apologies. Second, I've ridden I-305 numerous times, both pre- and post-trims, and have always thought that the ride is top-ten (probably top-five) material, especially with the new restraints (a change that I think was far more significant than the trims).
  8. ^Let's not comment on anybody's "winkie," please.
  9. Gray outs did seem to be the biggest complaint about I-305 (at least outside the enthusiast community), so reprofiling to cut down on the forces would be my guess, too. We shall see.
  10. Further discussion is pointless as no one can prove anything one way or the other. Thread locked.
  11. Well, considering that you can buy Raging Bull key chains at Six Flags St. Louis, why not?
  12. ^I think the trims made the "twisty" part of the ride better when it still had the hard restraints.
  13. Too bad--the dark ride was pretty decent, as I recall.
  14. I think they should call it "Drachen Wulf."
  15. ^^He's not accusing him of lying. He's presenting the point of view of the management of the event. There's simply no way for anyone here to know one way or the other what happened unless they were there. (I'm going to assume it was a misunderstanding, myself.) The point is that this was an event on private property--their rules, their call. Frankly, because the police weren't involved, no one would've heard about this if it hadn't been posted here.
  16. ^Agreed. GeoPanic was weird enough to be "interesting," but it was a pretty bad ride. Linear Gale was simply weak.
  17. ^Someone nearly poked my eye out with a broomstick, too--must be some sort of Wisconsin tradition. What a rich cultural history.
  18. ^^^If you have only three hours to spend at BGW, an October Friday is the time to go. A wee bit 'o' irony: Alpengeist, the runaway chairlift coaster, cannot run during a snowstorm. (I know this from experience.)
  19. Thanks for the report, Divv--I love Halloween events, and Alton's looks like fun. Must be nice to have an actual "haunted castle."
  20. ^Considering that those coasters were mediocre, at best, I think they made the right decision. Triple Hurricane and Starliner were the best of a bad lot.
  21. I remember the park saying at WCB that they took Superman down to paint him, but would need a helicopter to put him back up on top.
  22. OK, I haven't embarrassed myself in a Photoshop contest in a few years, so what the hell. Front of shirt. Back of shirt. (I figured Angus had to get in on this action, somehow.)
  23. I rode it 4 or 5 times during ERT at Grona Lund, and felt OK--some rides were tamer than others.
  24. ^Then again, when was the last time they updated their site, other than to restrict comments? EDIT: OK, they're up to 384 bucks now.
