  1. Finally got around to watching the entire Apocalypse preshow video. Total silence would, indeed, be an improvement.
  2. Hollywood Tour is the most awesome ride this side of Dinosaur.
  3. I'd be all over a haunted Christmas walkthrough!
  4. ^One of the funniest MST 3K episodes ever!
  5. ^^A worthy investment, indeed.
  6. Finally got around to watching the entire preshow video of Apocalypse last night--hoo boy. Truly painful. I think they should either 1) commission a new video from SyFy that includes mega-sharks and -pirhanas or 2) just go with "cat and bunny hat."
  7. I found that movie quite enjoyable though the script could had used an upgrade. I wasn't bored by the movie (Jeff Bridges offered a nice counterpoint to the high-tech stuff with his "hippie zen" take on his original character). Good eye candy, meh story (like the original), but enjoyable to watch over beer and nachos at the Movie Tavern in Williamsburg. I thought the music was pretty good, too.
  8. We already have a "worst coaster" thread. Please feel free to post your coaster horror stories there.
  9. I agree that the cat-and-bunny-hat video would be the better choice. Angus McNasty is willing to license the use of his image for this retheming--for a nominal fee, of course. Angus McNasty: The Apocalypse!
  10. I finally finished taking mine down yesterday, which is a bit long for me. (I've been fighting a head cold all week, and the idea of taking down the outdoor lights on a freezing cold night wasn't too appealing--hence, the delay.)
  11. ^^I'm not a fan of the Potter series (I've seen the movies, but haven't read the books), and I agree that the new area is very nice visually. However, it's very cramped, and there is no way I would wait an hour or more just for the privilege of entering it. Forbidden Journey is a good ride, but it made me feel pretty queasy (the video sections really got me), and the Dragons Challenge queue isn't even a shadow of what it once was; I like the Butterbeer, though. For me, the worst part of IOA is Tune Lagoon--two great water rides, but the rest is a butt-ugly mess of mostly irrelevant comic strips.
  12. ^I guess the questions now should be "How about them Jets and Seahawks?" While the Jets' victory made sense to me, I know that I never figured the Seahawks could advance past the first round.
  13. I've only ridden it twice, and l thought it was great both times. I ranked it at #25 in the 2009 Hawker poll, myself.
  14. Back when BGW was building Griffon, I was ambling past the construction zone, when this trash can starting shaking violently. Out popped a squirrel with half a waffle cone! I chased the little bugger and snagged this picture. "Mine! Mine! All mine!"
  15. Truer words were n'er spoke. At least you can buy actual Guinness at the Festhaus and Grogan's this year, as opposed to Busch's weak Bareknuckle Stout.
  16. Hmm--I think the jury is still out on this one. So far, Blackstone seems to be a good fit for the Busch parks, and they are putting in some major rides over the next couple of years. And in terms of operations at BGW, I don't see where anything has really changed. I do agree that it was foolish for InBev to buy out Busch, and that the only one who really benefited was August Busch--and that InBev merely saw the parks as unwanted "assets."
  17. That's it--get back up on that horse, Mike! Tivoli was definitely a great day.
  18. Here's the story from the Daily Press (January 5, 2011). I'm pretty intrigued by the building section of the ride, too.
  19. Is that the Shamu coaster, from Mitsui (HOTTER THAN HELL) Greenland? Couldn't quite tell from RCDB. Yep--that's the one. The oddly named Grampus Jet.
  20. Drachen Fire ran from 1992 to 1998, so it was part of the previous decade.
  21. The old version plays up the humor even more. John Wayne was more boisterous as Rooster Cogburn, whereas Jeff Bridges was more laconic. Both approaches to the character work.
  22. ^Isn't that spelled "verboten"? Or is "Verbolten" meant to be some sort of play on words?
  23. Then they'd have to change the name of the bumper cars--ripple effects, people. There has been some some corporate sponsorship at BGW, such as Lowe's for some landscape displays, Southwest Airlines for the skyride, and Aer Lingus for the show in Ireland.
  24. I'd like to know where you heard SFoG was removing their log flume. It certainly was still there at the tail end of last year... The thread is about Park City, Utah, not Six Flags Over Georgia. Please stay on topic.
