  1. I'm sure it's every bit as authentic as the "lobster bites" at Long John Silver's .
  2. ^I'd say that Dave hs presented his views quite reasonably. ^^I can see your point about Hellcat. I was on the TPR Mid-America Trip and rode it five times, each with a full train--it was excellent, and a very pleasant surprise. As for Voyage, well . . . it was giving some pretty powerful spine adjustments during that same trip. I loved it in 2009, but I didn't enjoy it much in 2010. I've heard similar stories about Viper at Six Flags Great America--great one day, wretched the next. I'm hoping the Timerbliners will do good things for Voyage--at least make it less of a Jeckyll and Hyde. Well, every coaster needs a bit of Jeckyll and Hyde.
  3. I found voyage to be a bit of a "Jeckyll and Hyde." When I first rode it in spring 2009, I loved, and it had but one little "bump." But the difference between then and my last ride in August 2010 was night and day. I got off of Voyage thinking, "What the hell happened to this ride?" Maybe it's the difference between an early season ride and a late season ride.
  4. Four--one of whom is my niece Leslie (she really liked it).
  5. ^This has the makings of the most awesome Viagra ad yet.
  6. The SFMM and KBF days offer a nice contrast to each other. The SFMM day tends to be more high powered, while the KBF day is more low key.
  7. ^Time to add another entry to my "People Who Remember Drachen Fire Fondly" list.
  8. I vividly remeber my first ride on Drachen Fire--and the multiple bruises, throbbing headache, and upset stomach that came with it. It got a little better when they reprofiled it, but I never cared for the thing. That being said, I know people who remember it fondly.
  9. What about Grizzly moving out of the bottom spot? Why is there no OUTRAGE over this? Damn you Anaconda anti-fanboys! Damn you all to hell! Actually, I think Anaconda is finally getting the attention it richly deserves. Grizzly is just boring; Anaconda is brutal.
  10. Yay for more Haunt stuff! It was interesting getting a look at how Knott's goes about designing Haunt mazes last year.
  11. I still have yet to ride Deja Vu. Maybe I'll give it a try at WCB, if it's up and running; frankly, it's not a coaster type that I care for (Vekoma shuttles).
  12. Holy crap! Let the diabetic seizures begin.
  13. Don't recall ever posting in this thread. My favorite is . . . Balder! Yes, I can marathon this insane, airtime-filled ride easily! And it cures the common cold! I can attest to this!
  14. Machete likes Korean food? Who'd a thought? The Churro Tots and Rajas Fries sound good to me.
  15. It's a little-known fact that Mickey is a Bob Dylan fan: "Anybody who ain't busy bein' born is busy dyin."
  16. ^I also like the Beast, but his Son is a complete bastard. If the new tracking works on Texas Giant, I think it could be a good fit for the Beast.
  17. Ejector seats? I've been wondering about that myself. I recall something about "lighting effects" being mentioned earlier.
  18. Same here. In fact, it surprises me that the coasters at Mt. Olympus rank as highly as they do. Hades is great through the tunnels, but getting to them is absolute torture. Cyclops has that great, insane moment of airtime in the backseat, but nothing else (rather boring otherwise). Hellcat/Avalanche is easily the best coaster in Wisconsin (and in my personal top ten). And I'm glad that more people appreciate El Toro for the great ride it is. But it's all a matter of opinion.
  19. Amen, brother! Testify!
  20. I think the perfect example of theming greatly improving an otherwise mediocre ride is the Vekoma Mine Train. The heavily themed versions in Europe (such as Phantasialand's) are lots of fun; the barebones version at Freestyle Music park was not. Theming plays an important role in Black Mamba at Phantasialand, too.
  21. Excellent! I'm looking forward to riding this one at WCB (after finally riding the forward-facing version last year). Then I get to go to Australia with a bunch of of other TPR people and do it again at Dreamworld!
  22. And now Texas Giant is even less a wooden coaster than El Toro. For me, this is the most important criterion: Is the ride any fun at all?
  23. Too bad they didn't let keep that cool Cheetah Hunt hard hat--you could've worn it to your next fraternity mixer. This new ride and the area surrounding it just look better and better each day--great job on the report (looking forward to the videos).
  24. ^Speaking as a 51-year-old man who grew up in California, I can say, with the strength of my convictions, that Knott's has, indeed, lost some "nostalgia"--whatever that was supposed to mean. (Really, can something "lose" nostalgia? You can feel less "nostalgic" about it--that's true enough.) I was able to access the other site's thread yesterday (can't today) and noticed that they'd "closed" it, which was probably for the best. Frankly, there's very little there worth reading, anyway.
