  1. ^Yeah, that's the thing. WDW doesn't really have an "off season." I remember when Disneyland used to shut down two days each week from January through March--it gave them a chance to do a lot of work without having to worry about guests. But those days are long gone.
  2. ^I still much prefer the oroginal flick from the late 1960s (still one of my favorite science-fiction movies).
  3. Your failure to find much about them online may have answered your own question. The link to their old Web site doesn't appear to work anymore, at least.
  4. ^I think that sentiment is true of all charities focused on medical issues, such as cancer, HIV, and muscular dystrophy.
  5. Finally got around to watching Rise of the Planet of the Apes the other night. I disliked the Tim Burton version of Planet of the Apes so much that I'd skipped the sequel in the theatres. I was pleasantly surprised by Rise--it had the heart that Burton's movie lacked, and they were wise enough to keep the story fairly simple.
  6. The more I see of Give Kids the World Village, the more impressed I am with it.
  7. B&M rides usually have a seat for larger persons in the middle rows (with two seatbelts), but I don't know if this is the case with Dominator.
  8. I think Georgia Cyclone has the potential to be a great ride--maybe the Topper Track will be the answer.
  9. ^You'd need zero-g toilets, like on the Space Shuttle.
  10. ^It's called using the artwork you have on hand. No one outside the enthusiast community would know the difference, anyway.
  11. The new wine bar sounds great. Epcot has the best food offerings of any park, and this is only going to make them better.
  12. But that's true for all the older GCI rides that have been retrofitted with Millennium Flyer trains. But new trains cost money, and I rather like Roar even with the old trains (but I haven't ridden it in a few years).
  13. It's pretty impressive how they built that large new ride in a fairly tight area. But will the restrooms be equally as impressive?
  14. There are always kinks to work out in the early going. The park has to get used to using Fast Lane, too. This is why I usually don't go on opening week, if I can avoid it.
  15. ^^I'm not really sure how much more "intense" they can get with a water coaster. It looks to me like an interesting variation on Pilgrim's Plunge.
  16. ^ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3JulFmtvgM Maybe y'all can look up Miss Lillian, too.
  17. ^Perhaps a "rump-checking" station at the front of the park that issues colored wrist bands corresponding to one's, er, volume and displacement?
  18. Yes, they seem to be having some opening week issues. I think I'll wait until the park is a bit more "in sync."
  19. ^You can avoid bad food at Burger King? Meanwhile, to get back on topic, WDW has some good food.
  20. ^Thanks for the clarificaton, Paula.
  21. ^Kings Dominion is offering a "dining plan" now. If it gets you food at any restaurant outside the park, I'd probably buy it. I agree that Disney offers better-than-average theme-park food (and some damn good restaurants at the parks other than the Magic Kingdom) for a decent price compared to CF and SF.
  22. ^I recall hearing that, too--but the park's Web site just mentions the clover leaf rafts.
  23. ^Yeah, I think that's standard operating peocedure for the Busch parks.
  24. ^I don't think of the Mach Tower situation as a "soft opening." It was more like the park finally decided "OK, this thing is finally ready--everybody get on!" I'm not saying that a soft opening for Verbolten is impossible--only that I'll believe it when I see it.
  25. Here's a pic of one of Mammoth's rafts (from the previous page of this thread).
