  1. ^Speaking of Apollo's Chariot, the drop just after the mid-course brakes (right after the turnaround by the Rhine River) is particularly forceful if you're sitting in the very back row. You get "piledrived" back into your seat.
  2. ^Well, Grizzly has its good days and its bad days. If you had a headache, avoiding it was probably wise.
  3. Chimelong Paradise
  4. OK, this is a new one on me. "You have to accentuate the positive, Eliminate the negative, And be sure to depump your vertices . . ."
  5. Hmm--to me, Hurler is rougher than Grizzly (although the former was a lot of fun during its first season of operation).
  6. ^No need to get all worked up. It's not clear that the gun was simply fired into the air, although it is, of course, possible (and I think likely). A man was accidentally shot at Water Country in Williamsburg, Va., a few years ago. Someone was hunting in the woods near the park, and his shot missed his game and made it into the park.
  7. ^We managed to sneak in a ride on Mach Tower last Friday night, but it was only "up" for various periods of no longer than 15 minutes; it broke down again at the end of our ride. We also rode Tempesto first thing in the morning and again late that night--I like it quite a bit.
  8. What coaster is this? Goudurix Only this can redeem Goudurix.
  9. The initial drop out of the station to the lift hill on the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at the Magic Kingdom. It really is a surprise and a bit of a shock for first-time riders.
  10. Because Merlin's toilets are magical.
  11. I shared to beer flights (three each) with two friends at the Dog Street Pub in Williamsburg last night: Maizie's ESB (Dog Street/Alewerks collaboration) Springhouse Ale (Alewerks) Bell's Lager Oberon (Bell's pale wheat) Founders Pale Ale Jack's (hard cider)
  12. I love how it just hurls you over the top.
  13. ^I agree, even though it is the most "interesting" part of a mediocre ride. This section right before the corkscrews of Anaconda convinced me that the designers at Arrow were hardcore alcoholics and were suffering from the DTs when they designed it.
  14. Nagashima Spa Land
  15. My ride with Elissa on Insane was, indeed, insane. However, my ride with Erik Penders went one step beyond that! Two big guys + unbalanced car = SAVE ME JEEBUS! I miss the Scandanavian parks--need to get back there.
  16. Yes, I do miss the old Jaws ride in Florida--rolling around in front of a bunch of video screens isn't nearly as much fun as good old physical effects.
  17. ^Here's a good place to start looking for "local grub": http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1293260#p1293260.
