  1. Thank you very much, I think I am going to change up plans and go to knoebels Friday night and go to Hershey Saturday. I would rather wait in lines than not ride the coasters at all. I think Knoebels will be more apt to run rides, and if not we can just use tickets.
  2. I was wondering if anyone knows hersheys temperature policy? I'm going Friday and it looks to be around low 40s,high 30s for that day. I don't think I am going to go if none of the coasters are going to be open.
  3. I am going to HP on Friday Oct 25th, I am doing a Knoebels/HP trip and decided Friday would be the best day to go that weekend. How crowded does HP tend to be on Friday nights for Hersheypark in the dark?
  4. I would have to agree with you, I got on Boulder Dash Sunday night in the back and I was just speechless at the end of the ride. The laterals on the drop and the turn around were unlike anything I have ever experienced. And the airtime in between was just yummy. On top of that it was only my second ride on it so i didnt know the layout. It took a day to sink in but I think Boulder Dash is my new favorite coaster.
  5. I just waited for Boulderdash with a full queue when it was only running one train. It was agonizingly long hour wait, however after I got off it broke down for the night so that is even worse
  6. For me Great Adventure can be a real pain depending on what time of the day I hit the Jersey Turnpike. Also the tolls are just outrageous. It cost me 20 dollars in tolls to do a great adventure trip from upstate NY, it cost me 0 dollars to go all the way to Dollywood.
  7. I am going to lake compounce for the first time next Sunday, is their Halloween event very busy Sundays? I will probably just do the park this time because its my first time there. Other than the coasters is there anything in particular I should check out,I know they have a shooting dark ride but is there any other flats worth riding?
  8. When I was there this week they were running two trains through consistently on flying turns. Also they had a device to simulate the arm span of people on the train, while that was on there was a person in the second car riding video taping it. Perhaps that was the inspector.
  9. I am going to be there Monday-Wednesday next week, if they plan on having it be open for labor day, perhaps a soft open during the week to work some of the kinks out? A man can dream anyway.
  10. Yes the campground was really nice, I use a tent so my options for camp sites is more than if I had an RV. I wish you could make a reservation with only staying one night but they require you to stay two nights in order to reserve a site. I only called a week and a half ahead of time this trip and there were plenty of sites available. A question I have about the park is about Stratosfear, I rode it multiple times and thought it was amazing. Ive ridden many S&S drop towers and thought they were all pretty lame, what makes the Stratosfear so much better than the S&S models? I realize the restraint doesn't come down as much but the forces, both negative and positive, are so much greater on this ride compared to other drop towers it had me curious as to why this is.
  11. Just got back from my amazing 3 day camping trip to Knoebels. This is the first time I have spent multiple days there and I would have to say without a doubt it is my favorite park that I have been to. There is something about the atmosphere that just makes me feel happy that I am alive and able to experience it. There is nothing quite like camping there, only having to walk 5 minutes to get to the park was an amazing experience. Some highlights of the trip were riding Phoenix at night in the pouring rain, the crazy bumper cars, and all the delicious food I got to eat. The best part of the trip was getting on the last ride of the night on Phoenix Tuesday and Wednesday both nights they turned the lights off, it was great riding in the complete dark. Then as we came back into the station they just didn't stop the train and sent us through again! It was great going through without stopping two nights in a row. Is this something they do every night? I had a great time and plan on trying to do it again before the summer is done.
  12. I was at Knoebels for a few days and they were making extra sure to tell us not to snap the flyers every time we got on. The operator said they were being extra careful because of the incidents over the weekend. Also they were checking to make sure everybody had their seatbelt on at the bumper cars, when I went a few weeks ago they didn't do that.
  13. I am going to be camping at Knoebels for the first time in a week, I was wondering if there was anywhere around the park I can get fire wood? I could probably find some around me but I know that a lot of campgrounds frown upon bringing your own firewood. Any other tips for camping at Knoebels? Also I reserved a campsite with a platform, I have a normal tent will I be able to stake it down or is the platform too big?
  14. Yes as you can see in this photo, there is also signs in the queue saying the first two are forward and the last 3 are reversed.
  15. Went to the park today for the first time this year, I only went for a couple hours as there were no lines and really the only thing worth riding is the Comet. I still think that this park could really use a decent steel coaster, a small premier launcher perhaps. I stopped by the new flyers but didn't ride as this was the only thing that had a bit of a line, since I went to Knoebels last week i figured riding these flyers would be a bit of a let down. I got to ride Canyon Blaster backwards, while it really didn't make a terrible ride good it was definitely disorienting which is more than could be said for it before. The main purpose of going out was to test the camera on my new phone, so I will post a few pictures from my day. I had everything on auto, I think once i mess around with the settings a bit I should be able to get some better pictures out of it. Steamin Demon, Iconic ride for the park but a terrible ride new flyers looking good This is what I came for as you can see lines were not an issue, kudos to SF for running 2 trains when it wasnt necessary. New blizzard building themeing One of the better Boomerangs, it could benefit from the new trains though Pink Whale is back! Canyon Blaster....the first 2 cars are normal and the last three are turned around Still Boring! Bobsled was actually running today
  16. It is in a stand shaped like a giant apple. I always forget the exact location but I remember being somewhere near the bumper cars.
  17. RHere some pictures I got of flying turns today. I wasn't in the area all day but I saw at least 5 test runs while I was in the area. I was disappointed about Phoenix as it is my favorite coaster and I drove about 5 hrs to ride it but the day was fantastic with only twister, I wish they substitutes Black Diamond as Phoenix was down because the price was still the same. Still an amazing day, Knoebels has become my favorite park. Getting countless rides on the carousel and about 6 rides on the skooters is a recipe for a great day. Figured I would include this bonus picture of the greatest non alcoholic drink ever, frozen apple cider
  18. I was at knoebels today and flying turns was testing all day, first with two cars and 2 empty chassis. Then with 3 cars, then i saw they had all 4 cars on the train but i didn't see them test that. Also an employee i talked to said the rumor was either july 4th or in August sometime. Also Phoenix was down all day, i guess it broke down sunday and hasn't opened since. The same employee also said there were reports of fire from the motor but i suspect it was probably just smoke. Either way Phoenix was down and there was no activity near it so there is defiantly a semi serious issue, perhaps they are waiting on an replacement part.
  19. Well I was planning on going to Hershey Saturday the 20th and knoebels on Sunday. However with skyrush down I am contemplating just going to knoebels on Saturday. I am afraid with skyrush down the lines for the rest of the coasters will be ridiculous. Has anyone here been to Hershey park in the dark on a Saturday? If so were the crowds unbearable?
  20. This is tough one but: 1.Nitro 2.El Toro 3.Superman ROS (SFNE) 4.Lighting Racer 5.Kingda Ka 6.Storm Runner 7.Medusa(SFGADV) 8.Cyclone (SFNE) 9.The Comet (TGE) 10. Great Bear Fahrenheit did not impress me all that much, I would say that I enjoyed Wildcat more than Fahrenheit.
  21. Every trip I've had to SFNE this year has been great....but thats just me. I learned a long time ago not to go there on the weekends during summer though.
  22. i saw sevendust, killswitch engage, and dragonforce last week. the first two were awsome, but dragonforce were really really bad. next one will be billy joel and than TOOL.
