  1. I didn't realize the Motel 6 was pet friendly, I swear I did a search a month ago for pet friendly hotels in the area and didn't come up with much and what I found was going to charge me an arm and a leg. Were you the one who asked about CP's dog kennels a couple months ago? If so, what were they like? Yes I am, just had to wait for a free moment to post some pictures. They were satisfactory, not exactly the greatest but it was good for our boy. It is definitely a kennel, they have 4-5 larger runs in the back that are on concrete, and they have smaller crates. They do not walk your pet but provide water and food. The two employees that were there were great. They do seem to pay attention to the dogs, when we picked him up he mentioned the one dog was nervous and by pawing at the door had a cut on his paw. The employee stated that he called the owners to let them know, so it was good to know that if something did happen they would get ahold of the owner. If your dog is crate trained then I think they would do well. Our puppy was crying like crazy the first time we left him, by the second day he was pulling us to go back in! He could see other dogs so I think that helped calm him down since he likes being around other dogs. Overall I thought that doggywood at Dollywood was a bit nicer but pet check was a great option at the park, since otherwise I'm not sure we would have been able to go at all. Also yes all motel 6 are pet friendly. Here's a few pictures. No my wife didn't stay in there with him these are the runs on the back. Smaller crates
  2. ^^ I am pretty sure those have always been there. Unless they are larger than they have been in the past. I haven't been since May so I could be wrong.
  3. We just stayed at the Motel 6 on Rye Beach Rd, and the accommodations were great for the price. For about 83 bucks a night we got a room with a center island that had a fridge , microwave , and small sink. We had a one bed so the other half of the room had a couch. The hotel had a indoor pool and hot tub. It was about a 5 minute drive from the park and they were pet friendly with no extra charge which helped us out a lot. Couldn't recomended enough.
  4. I've always enjoyed Mrs. D's seafood in Sandusky. They were a counter service type place but last year they remodeled and have a nice bar ect. The walleye and perch are to die for and if they still have their seafood nacho special it is just phenomenal. If you like fish there are plenty of places for fresh catch around Sandusky. Mrs. Ds has been the best I've found. Now it's been over a year since I've been to the point so I hope they are still there! I'll find out next weekend!!
  5. Does anyone know when the cutoff for season passes being for this year or for next year? I seem to remember when I went on the weekend after Labor Day and got platinum passes they were for the following year, we are going the same weekend this year also. We are still not sure whether we are going to just buy admission that weekend or a pass. I wish there was a Cedar Point pass that included parking, we don't foresee visiting any other Cedar Fair parks next year so a platinum pass really isn't worth it.
  6. I meant to go check it out myself when I was there in July but forgot. Can you take some pictures of the inside and post them for those of us who would be interested in using pet check in the future? Will do!
  7. Due to getting a puppy this year my coaster riding has fallen off greatly. But we will be going out to cedar point this year and are going the magical weekend between Labor Day and halloweekends (sept 10-11). I was wondering if anyone here has used the "pet check" at CP and how your experience was with it. Do you just show up there an hour before the park opens? How were the facilities? Does it fill up quickly or should I be confident that he will have a spot if we show up early? Any help is appreciated, thank you.
  8. They added air gates to Phoenix?!?!? That is lame, that was the first thing I noticed that made Knoebels stand apart from other parks. Naturally after spending time at the park it was the least important factor that makes Knoebels magical. I knew it was a matter of time, the crowds seem to been listening less and less. They were saying stand behind the yellow line repeatedly last time I was there in May. As long as the ring stays on the carousel were all good
  9. I haven't been to any of the places you said but I have went to a place called Boss Hoggs BBQ on Wears Valley Road and it was fantastic. They opened last year I believe, the only issue I have had is they ran out of chicken one day we were there. At least it shows they are cooking the food daily. Everything I have had from there is great. It's not a fancy sit down reastaursnt but there is seating and it's clean. Anyone else ever eat there?
  10. I would recommend anyone who thinks Dollywood is meh to try to go during smoky mountain christmas. I'm not a big Christmas kind of guy but that park is magical during that time, it also helps all the rides are walk ons. Also if you go then and buy a season pass it is good the whole next year. My wife and I make 2 trips down a year and only have to get a season pass every other year. It works out nicely. To add to that point Dollywood is only a part of what is available in the area. With the national park and all of the tourist stuff in the area I always leave wishing I had more time to do things. Glad to see all the thunderhead love! Seems the consensus has been pretty negative about it recently. I rode it in March and it was running the best it has in 3 years! I love that ride!!! Night rides during the Christmas event when it's 40 degrees out is just mind blowing.
  11. I was actually commenting how well Thunderhead was running this year compared to last November. It was flying through the course very smoothly. They were the best rides I've gotten since 2012.
  12. I am at Dollywood today, they have been working on taking a train off the track all day. I would think this is a step in the wrong direction but we do not know anything so who knows. Was still something really cool to watch.
  13. I was beaten to the punch, but yes, I was going to let everyone know the above. -=CoasterBP Maybe Danny Robbins needs to stop spewing information he doesn't know to be correct or true and allow the real PR team, Pete and his group, to give out the information. Just saying... Or maybe coaster enthusiasts should stop stalking his personal Instagram asking him a bunch of questions. He's just trying to be nice and pass off as good as information as he has. I really hope nothing bad comes of this for him because I have met him at the park multiple times and he is one of the best/nicest employees there. He remembered my wife and I when we weren't there for a year. For someone who sees hundreds of thousands of guests a year I really appreciated it. And really why does it matter what is wrong, if it was a programming issue is one of us going to go there and fix it for them? They have clearly stated it wasn't a catastrophic failure. It will be open when they say it's ready. I'll be there Monday or Tuesday next week regardless, the park was fantastic before Lightning Rod and will be great next week. That said I would love if by some chance they work out the kinks by Tuesday but I am not expecting it.
  14. I shall be going down to GADV Sunday, I am actually really excited! Being able to ride Nitro after my birthday will be a treat and delay my winter hibernation! Have they released official temps when the likes of Nitro and Batman will close down? I would like to go New Year's Day or something just to say I rode a coaster in January! But if the big boys are closed it will reduce the temptation.
  15. I was wondering if any information has been released about the winter chill out tour this year? I have wanted to go every year but just forget about it and it is over by the time I realize. This year I want to make sure I do not miss it, if there isn't any info yet when about do they usually release the dates? Thanks for any help.
  16. I was thinking of heading out to SFNE today was wondering how the crowds have been on Sunday's this fright fest. I am not sure whether to go to SFNE as I have season passes, or Lake Compounce which I would have to pay. If SF has been packed then I would rather go to LC.
  17. Two years ago I went when it was really cold and asked them about their temperature policy through Facebook and they said as long as it's not snowing Phoenix and Twister stay open. Not sure about Flying Turns or Implulse though. It got down to 31 when I was there and Phoenix was running, albeit slow and VERY cold. Still a really fun time!
  18. Not sure if there is enough people here that have Super Mario Maker in order to create its own level sharing thread. I picked up the game yesterday and have not been able to put it down since! This is the killer app for the Wii U.......unfortunately it came out near the end of its life cycle. Anyone who has a Wii U and has not picked up the game should right away! If you are on the fence about getting a Wii U you should just to play this game! Well anyway yesterday when messing around me and my wife made a few levels. Any feedback/critisim on the levels is greatly appreciated! The level codes are: 1AB6-0000-0017-092E - Ship in The Air BCCF-0000-001D-2593 - Jump them Walls 7ABF-0000-002A-5F8D - House of Boos F863-0000-0025-EA7B - Hi!....Bye Anyone else who has the game and has their own levels to share post the code and I will play them!!
  19. I was looking online and on KD website it says I can get tickets for my friends for 40 bucks with my season pass. Does anyone know if you have to pre purchase those tickets or can I get the discounted admission at the gate with my platinum pass?
  20. I'm taking a trip down to Virginia to go to KD this Friday. I am going with a couple first timers to the park. I was curious how crowds have been on Fridays this summer. Friday's always seem to be a crapshoot, we are going to try to get there at open or shortly after. I know Volcano should be the first stop due to low capacity, any other tips? Thanks for your help
  21. I did notice a little bit of a vibration in the C train last week. Nothing compared to how bad it was last year though, still great. What Nitro really needs is a paint job, she's looking pretty worn out and should have got painted a couple years ago it seems.
  22. There are few rides more beautiful than Gatekeeper. The first time I rode it I was underwhelmed by it but after multiple rides I have come around. It is a fantastic re rideable ride and if I was Cedar Fair I would use B&M as much as they do, but the nothing beats the feeling after riding a Intamin or RMC. The selfish enthusiast side of me would want a park full of Intamins and other more intense manufactures but I get why they use B&M. I am curious why Mack has had very limited instillations in the U.S. The ones they have built over in Europe seem to have a fantastic mix of intensity and ridability.
  23. ^^^ So what you are saying is that if coasters that are more forceful then the B&M coasters didn't exist then we would not complain about less forceful B&Ms? Well yea duh, that's like saying if all we had was McDonalds beef and there wasn't prime rib than we would consider McDonalds meat to be gourmet. I think the complaints more come from older B&M style of rides compared to their recent counterparts. I don't think that anybody would describe Raptor, Batman, or Kumba to be forcless. I think that the term forcless is not the best adjective , predictable would be a better word for it. You could have watched the POV of Gatekeeper and pretty much tell what it was going to ride like. I watched the POV for WIcked Cyclone a hundred times and the first time I rode I was very surprised by all of the forces! That said I have not ridden Fury yet and reports are that B&M is starting to do some good things. I can't wait to see what this new coaster turns out like. I have only ever ridden Griffon once and didn't much enjoy it but I wasn't in the best of moods that day so I am going into this new ride open minded! I am a bit disappointed in the ride because I think that a really good wooden coaster would be a better fit for this parks current line up but I'm sure the new Cedar Point ride will be fantastic.
  24. ^ I would imagine the hotter it is the thinner the grease/lubrication is in the wheels. Thinner grease=easier spinning wheels=faster.
  25. Yes it is well worth it me and my wife were in the same situation about 4 years ago. We were a couple in our 20s that went to a bunch of parks just for the rollercoasters, hated almost all flat rides and Knoebels is about the same distance for me. We Debated all year on whether a park with a measly 2 rollercoasters (at the time flying turns wasn't open and black diamond is more of a dark ride) was worth it. We finally went to Dorney in the morning, did Knoebels in the evening for the 5-10 wristband and haven't stopped going back since! It is now the park we go to more often than anything. There is something intangible about that place that can only be felt by going there. You will not be disappointed! If you are hesitant just get 5-10 wristband. If you go let us know how it goes! P.S I would recommend going all day if you want the best Knoebels experience because the flat rides and food are just as much of a draw as the coasters. Be prepared for dogs to be there too! Something about having dogs walking around the park really helps the atmosphere subconsciously more than I think it does.
