Well no matter where you eat it will be fantastic. My favorite meal has to be the enchilada platter at the international food court near black diamond. You get a giant enchilada, beans, Mexican rice and a piece of corn bread for 7 bucks I believe. It is more food than should be consumed in one sitting but I always clean the plate! The Traveling taco is great snack, which is located where they have the magic show, kind of near the carousel.Chipped beef on toast is amazing if you get there for breakfast at the international food court, they serve breakfast between 8-2. Now for dessert , the waffle ice cream sandwich is great, located near the old mill ice cream stand, also the chocolate covered cheese cake is tasty which is near the pirate ship. And no trip to Knobels is complete until you get either a frozen apple cider or frozen iced tea. Just look for the stand shaped like a giant Apple near the bumper cars. Oh I almost forgot the funnel cake is also amazing. If your looking for something I have only seen at Knobels a whirrzle is delicious, it is similar to a milk shake but made with fudge and ice I believe, it is located at the fudge and nut shop near the flyers. There is just to much good food there, these suggestions are only the tip of the ice berg. Other than opening day this year I have never been disappointed with Knobels food. It is the only place where I have to say " I have to stop eating so I can ride the rides"not the other way around. -
If you have never been to Lake Compounce I would definitely recommend stopping there over The Great Escape honestly. Boulderdash is an amazing coaster, much better than The Comet in its current state. If you have never been to Knobels I could not recommend that you stop there enough. Since I went there for the first time a few years ago I cannot stop going back. It is just a great place to be, the only worry I have is if you try to "squeeze " it in you may not want to leave! Looks like an ambitious trip. I wish you all the best!

I rode it Friday morning and there is nothing i can say that others have not. Great ride, the first outwardly banked turn was just insane, the second outward hill was intense but not as intense as the first. Were you sitting near the same spot? Near the front and back had crazy airtime but the middle was a little less crazy. It could be the media day hype that helped bolster your opinion. Different train perhaps? Idk, but all I know is the ride I rode Friday morning was phenomenal and everyone should make it up there asap to ride it.

Great report! I agree with everything that you said, it is indeed the happiest place I ever go. If you loved the park so much you will be over the moon when you camp there. For my money there is no better time at an amusement park than camping at knoebels. I usually go for a few days a couple times a year, while the park is 4 hrs from me it has turned into my home park because it never dissapoints. There is something special to me about waking up at 6 am and taking a stroll through a closed and empty amusement park, it's something that is made possible by camping there. Just make sure you get your reservations in cause they book up sometimes. Also anything in the Texas /Rhode Island areas of the campground have always been the best spots for me, the bathrooms near there are the best. Knoebels is the only park I visit on a regular basis in July/August because the lines are still reasonable, especially during the week. Have fun when you go again! -
Best Family Coaster
Devins3 replied to Randomman295's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'll have to go with the easy one and pick Firechaser Express. I thoroughly enjoyed that ride and with a 39 inch height limit it was perfect for anybody really. Would Phoenix at 42 inches be in the running? It is a more intense coaster but I see families with young kids riding that ride all the time and are having a blast. -

Just got to the hotel from Knoebels. Impulse was great! Smooth and forceful, a perfect compliment to their exsisting coaster lineup. Park was very busy today but they stayed open an hour later and Phoenix and Twister were both running 2 trains surprisingly. Flyers operators were bein very lienent today which made for a great day! Can't wait for tommorow to go back. -
Great Adventure is a hard park to beat on a good day and today was that day. I did not wait even a one train wait for anything. 4 rerides on Nitro in the dark was heavenly, even though the train I was on was quite rough (for Nitro). I believe it was the A train. Earlier in the day I was in the other train and it was smooth as butter. What is up with having one train really rough the past couple years? I would think all the wheels get changed in the off season but I guess not. Great night! When is the fall family night this year? These events are just the best time to go to GADV, 4 hr park wide ERT!

To me it seems like the problem with Bizarro's restraints is where it comes down on your legs opposed to your stomach getting in the way. I have similar body height and weight and fit on just fine but the way the restraint was sitting on my thigh was very uncomfortable(similar feeling to Skyrush)and my stomach was not even near the restraint . Your legs are perhaps longer than mine which makes it harder for the restraint to go back further. In the past I have noticed that the front row of any car had much more leg room than the back row of a car. Have you tried making sure you are in the front row of a car? Their test seat really should be exactly accurate to the ride.

So I will be going to GADV for Coasters After Dark this Friday and am super excited. It looks to be right around 45 degrees during the night, is anyone familiar with GADVs weather policy when it comes to cold and running the coasters? It looks to stay above 40 the whole night so hopefully we will be alright. Also it's been a few years since I have been to GADV on a good day, is their re ride policy still as great as it used to be? I remember one time riding nitro like 15 times in a row at night without leaving my seat. Hopefully it's still like that because this looks to be a great night. Is it just me or is there almost zero advertisement for this event. If it wasn't for this forum I wouldn't have even known about it! Well if anyone else is going I will be there with my wife most likely wearing a Dollywood hat if anyone wants to chat about coasters for a bit.

Carowinds Discussion Thread
Devins3 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I am making my first trip to Carowinds in a couple weeks. I am going to go to Kings Dominion for the morning Friday then drive down to Carowinds. I was curious, if i only go to Kings Dominion for a couple hours in the morning and make it down to Carowinds before closing could I use my Platinum pass at both parks in one day? Carowinds is open until 10 and I would love to get some night rides in on Fury before going there in the morning the next day. Thanks. -

I went two years ago and everything was a walk on, the gate was open on MF and we could just reride. That's why I am going again this year on this weekend. Also helping things this year is it is opening day for NFL and the Cleveland browns are playing the Pittsburg steelers in Pittsburg , so that should help the crowds. -

I will be going to Kennywood for the first time next Saturday and am very excited. They are scheduled from 1030-10, Is it any day that they close early if it's not busy? I am not expecting a huge crowd but I could be wrong, has anyone here gone the weekend after Labor Day and know what kinda crowds I should expect. Also I will be in an RV ,does Kennywood charge for parking? If so is it more for an RV, any help is appreciated, thanks -

Does anyone know why CP isn't open next Friday? They were scheduled from 6-10 but now are closed due to private event. I was planning on going to CP Friday and Sunday and Kennywood Saturday. I looked last week and now they are not open. -
I have to agree about SFNE, it is by far the worst park that I have gone to. From the rude employees, terrible operations most of the time, to ride removals to the clientele of guests there is not much drawing me to this park. Superman used to be enough excuse to go but since its been Bizarro it has not been worth it to me. Ill just drive am hour further and go to Lake Compounce. Its not only me, I bring a lot of friends along with me on trips and nobody ever enjoys their time at SFNE. I miss the days when Shapiro was running things, maybe he didn't put in big roller coasters but the parks were much cleaner, and the ads in the park were not as obnoxious as they are now. Hopefully they see a drop in attendance and change their ways.

My Cedar Point Coaster Campout Experience
Devins3 replied to Jantzen73's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
I have a question, if you were on concrete or wood how do you stake down the tent? At Knoebels I always used nails if I am on a platform, but I was just curious what people did on the concrete. -

I am very jealous that you got to go to this event, it seems like it was a blast. By the time I saw the event it was to late to register. It is a dream of mine to camp out in an amusement park overnight, so hopefully they do it next year because I will be there. Glad you had so much fun! -
Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

When I rode Thunderbolt at Coney Island I thought that a restraint similar to that would be good for Skyrush. The restraint is on a swivel so it was always flat against your lap which made it have a lot surface area. The problem with Skyrush isn't the forces it is the surface area in which those forces are dispersed on your thigh. It doesn't really seem like it wwould be a hard fix, they could probably just modify the current restraint. That said the restraint really didn't bother me that much when I rode Skyrush. -
Hoffman's Playland to close in Colonie, NY
Devins3 replied to larrygator's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Aw man I didn't even realize that they had Lusse bumper cars there, I live like 20 minutes away from there but haven't been since I was a kid. I will have to go back this year before they close, especially knowing they have good bumper cars there now. -

Black Diamond is included on the wrist band this year. Which makes it worth riding for sure, there is never a line. -

This is the view from my tent at the campground at Knoebels, it's gonna be a good few days. Camping at Knoebels is the best -
I've also been playing Shovel Knight and would recommend it to anybody. It's out on Nintendo systems and PC. It's a really good old style plat former.
