Windseeker Status
DougMJr replied to Koasterking48's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Windseekers are very tame. More for observation rather than a ride. I'd take 100ft Star Flyer over a Windseeker any day. -

Wow, testing already. And human passengers possibly? Hopefully there is video up soon! -

Totally forgot about the front/back rows being closed. What's up with that? Anybody know the reason? -
Fun Spot America Discussion Thread

Not very familiar with fun spot. Do they have a satellite parking lot somewhere? Because in that aerial shot it doesn't look like they have much parking. -

Yeah, I hope that Gatekeeper will help take care of the morning rush so I can get my rides on Mav, Milli, and TTD first. -

I'm kinda hoping for a custom layout el loco that utilizes the mountain in some way. I do like the mountain theming and I think they can improve on this theming. Agreed, rim runner did make the park too humid. It was like a greenhouse in there last time I went. -
I'm pretty sure that Disney's goal is to improve operations and the guest experience for everyone. Yes, people who stay at a Disney Resort will have certain perks, they are paying for it. But I don't see how switching to RFID is a bad thing. I am sure it will save more time than it will waste. You might miss out on a fast-pass or two, but having your ticket and payment on your wrist has the potential to save you time. Down the road if Disney could go completely cashless think of how much time that could save in the park. No cashiers making change, no fumbling through purses or wallets. Tap-n-go! Totally cool idea! I love technology.

Unique Coaster Elements
DougMJr replied to OrientExpressForever's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Sky Scrapper / Starry Sky Ripper's 540* Fly-to-Lie is one of the most unique elements I know of. The Fly-to-Lie > Loop > Lie-to-Fly combo looks like it kicks ass. I hope they build a flyer like this in the US in the future! -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

Yeah, I'm surprised to hear him say that. You don't know how often I am at other parks and I hear the GP talking about CP and TTD. They go hand in hand in conversation. I don't know how they determine a coasters profitability but to an outsider it looks like TTD has brought them more business. -
Vialand (Turkey) Intamin LSM Construction
DougMJr replied to Gutterflower's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
"Istanbul not Constantinople! Now it's Istanbul not Constantinople!.." Excited to see this park and coaster progress. Especially since there isn't really many Intamin Projects to follow this off season so far. Liking the look of that huge immelman (I think, it looks like it enters from the bottom). Kinda cool coincidence considering that a friend of mine just planned a trip to Istanbul, before this opens however. -

Here is the video for those who choose to view it. It has no gore, not really disturbing in my opinion but view at your own discretion. www.youtube.com/watch?v=19gFJnrmiO0 -
Are We A Dying Breed?
DougMJr replied to nhman93's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think the big thing keeping the TPR forum alive is the Quality of content here is better than other groups that rely solely on twitter/facebook. Another great thing about the TPR site/forum is the fact that it kind of acts and an archive. The future of facebook/twitter is anything but certain. Look at MySpace and how it lost relevance in 5 years. I'm sure Robb feels more secure knowing that the majority of content is stored on privately owned TPR servers and not on Facebook/Twitter's servers. -
Are We A Dying Breed?
DougMJr replied to nhman93's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Dying, no... Evolving, YES!!!! 10 Years ago it would have been difficult to get the amount of up-to-the-minute coverage we are able to get today! Think about the TPR Cruise Coverage! From the middle of the ocean they are able to post updates on Facebook. From there the Mods update Twitter and the Forum. Using the technology available to us today in unison is proving to be a great strategy for TPR, and I love the fact that some form of coverage is available wherever I happen to be. Facebook, Twitter, RSS feed on my Desktop, and the Forums. -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
DougMJr replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
During Talks with B&M they were talking about using regular supports and building a facade around it, which was proving challenging. At which point B&M offered to make the towers the supports. -
Knoebels Discussion Thread

Sadly I haven't been on an ARM drop tower yet... but Knoebels is close enough to me and I have been putting off going to Knoebels for far too long!
