  1. The 2015 season park map has arrived! https://www.kingsdominion.com/images/uploads/file/KD15-045%20Park%20Map%20And%20Guide%20Final(1).pdf I do like it better than last years since it looks more full and complete. It has some trees along with names on the major attractions and overall just looks better. It also lists the new shows for the 2015 season! Cirque Imagine: June 20 - September 7 Kings Dominion Theater PEANUTS Palooza: March 29 - October 31 Grand Bandstand Charlie Brown's Happy Campers: March 29 - October 31 PEANUTS Playhouse Returning shows for 2015 include... The Lost World 3D: Action Theater Open Mic Karaoke: Grove Stage Schroeder's Sing Along: PEANUTS Playhouse All Wheels Sports: PEANUTS Showplace PEANUTS Meet & Greet: Planet Snoopy I believe we may see another show announced for the Grand Bandstand once the Dominion at Dusk arrangements are made for the peak of summer to go along with the fountains, light show, and fireworks. The Cirque Imagine show should be great - I only heard fantastic reviews of the Cirque show at Kings Island last season!
  2. ^ Agreed. Although I've always thought since the last rename that the park should have the name "Kingdom" in it to go with the rest of the resort as cheesy as it might be, haha. Magic Kingdom Animal Kingdom Movie Kingdom, Studio Kingdom? EPCOT It just gives off that Disney vibe in my opinion. I'm not a fan of the current name at all, so I'm glad it will be receiving a new (and hopefully better) name and hopefully a new icon!
  3. I love how the ride fits in with its surroundings so well - it looks like a solid (and needed) addition for Adventure Island. Plus, I'm always in favor of more raft slides and less body slides... Thanks for the update as always, Robb.
  4. Tempesto should be a great ride - it's just going to be a coaster that's a "must ride first" and/or only go to the park on non-crowded days to ride. So basically, Tempesto is taking Volcano's title for being the most pain-in-the-ass coaster in Virginia to get a ride on. Also, the location of the ride is making BGW look like a Six Flags skyline from the parking lot, but I'd rather not start that conversation again.
  5. I'm probably more interested in these - going to have to have a good amount of alcohol in me to tolerate Tempesto's capacity.
  6. Intimidator 305's 85 degree drop feels straight down as you fall within the 'straps' on your way down. If you sit in the front, you watch the track vanish beneath you and if you sit in the back, the quick cable/steep drop whips you over and gives some nice airtime. As far as Millennium Force goes, I've always thought it was an impressively designed lift-hill and drop for being constructed 15 years ago, but it's definitely not as intense (more drawn out) as 305's. The views make up for that though. Fury's should be interesting - but for the most part identical to Leviathan's, which is just a taller version of a hyper (not saying that's a bad thing). To answer part of your question though, if the drops were any steeper they would likely need OSTR's, just like dive coasters have.
  7. https://www.kingsdominion.com/online-fun/webcams For all you KD fans, you can now waste your time away watching a very good quality webcam on the construction of the Hurricane Heights slide complex in the new Soak City. The webcam is attached to the Pipeline Peak slide complex.
  8. ... but but but the seat belts will ruin the ride! kidding
  9. All hail Robb. 5 years later, and Intimidator 305 is still the talk of the state, and the public knows and loves the fact that it is "OMG it's 100 ft exactly taller than Griffon!". It's definitely one of the best Cedar Fair investments since they bought Paramount. KD can now compete on the national level and should be bringing in something good for 2016! On the topic of Fury, the ride looks like it'll be one of my favorite B&M's out there. I'm glad that I live 3 hours away from 305 and 3 hours away from 325. Hopefully, Fury brings some unexpected forces. I can't wait to respectfully compare the two!
  10. As a landscape architecture student, I love seeing this hub renovation at the Magic Kingdom. It really needed to be done and I'm glad they're taking the time and money to do it correctly with such detail. It'll all be worth it once it's done. It gives me hope that they'll transform the Sorcerers Hat area in Hollywood Studios into something special if they don't plan to replace the hat with a new icon. Thanks for sharing as always, Robb!
  11. ^ Agreed. Hopefully, we will see something better than the both of them at the end of the street eventually. Until then, it ought to be interesting to see how they utilize the area and fill it up.
  12. ^^ I believe the plaza will remain - there is plenty of room for Tiki Twirl right next to it.
  13. Welp, today has been exciting. All great news, the new Wicked Twister midway is going to look great (similar to the new Gemini one), Mantis will be ride-able (and one of the better rides in the park), and Maverick has the chance to be my #2 coaster in the world now... This is possibly the best offseason for CP since Maverick was installed. I couldn't have been more excited when I heard the Maverick news.
  14. MORE FLAGS SIX FLAGS. No better explanation that that. In all seriousness, Cedar Fair takes care of The Beast, quite well I may add, and from what I've heard, Six Flags was letting Colossus go downhill... so an overhaul was needed and welcomed.
  15. Probably so enthusiasts can stay awake at night worried whether the gray supports are still on the drop or not.
  16. 2016 has the potential to be a big year for Kings Dominion, but I wouldn't pass up an Easter Sunday trip to the park. One of the quietest days of the season along with the Tuesday-Thursday after Memorial Day.
  17. Before I get hounded with comments, I know this will likely not happen, but I'd love to see a slightly smaller Earful Tower somewhere in the proximity of where the Hat was if nothing else is going to be added. Of course, right not in the middle of the view of the Chinese Theater, but slightly to the side. I'm sorry, but I have never thought or never will think that the theater is a good icon at the end of the main entry way - it just isn't up to par with the rest of the parks in the resort as far as icons go (water parks included). I'm hoping for a replacement of both like Robb.
  18. While I like the look of the 4 across trains much more, when actually on the ride I much prefer the V style seating for the outer seats. It gives you such a free feeling, Diamondback executes this the best of the 3 (Behemoth, Diamondback, Intimidator). However, I'm glad they went 4 across for Leviathan and Fury as it provides a different experience than Behemoth and Intimidator.
  19. Construction for Aqua Blast, Thunder Falls, and Paradise Plunge has begun. The newly renovated WaterWorks should open Saturday May 23.
  20. ^ Good news for you, Afterburn is right across the park. Maybe we have different "out of control" tastes, but I doubt there will be many moments on this that provide that sensation. Your best bets are going to be airtime in the back seats going over the first drop and that 91 degree over bank.
  21. Interesting... Thanks for sharing as I hadn't seen that yet. I like dry/water parks to have their distinct boundaries, but I suppose they couldn't do much more than that unless they put in a bridge in over one of the paths.
  22. ^ Yeah, I've mostly only have seen positive outlooks since this ride was announced. I don't think many people are complaining, just discussing alternatives that could have been made to keep hype alive for this ride until opening day. Not everyone wets their pants when a new track piece is installed like others. I personally see this ride easily making my top-10, possibly higher. I'll be there as soon as it opens as well. I don't think there is a single enthusiast out there who can look at any coaster in the world and not think of a minor change they'd like to see.
  23. Millennium Force has the nickname Millennium Forceless and yet it's first turn is more intense than Leviathan's in my opinion. Fury's turn appears quite a bit tighter than Leviathan's so I'm thinking Fury's should be on par with Millennium Force's. I don't think anyone here thinks the ride is going to be the snooze-fest, besides perhaps that last helix and stretch into the brakes... and that's going to just depend on how hard those trims hit on the airtime hill going into the helix.
  24. ^ This ride has a great layout, I just really would have loved to see a low to the ground tight turn there instead... to give the ending a punch. Fast, Fun, Forceless Fury 325 Good advertising campaign. I'd agree with it 100%, I feel like Afterburn will still be the most intense ride in the park even at half the height and size.
  25. ^ I'd be down. Hopefully we will see this being trademarked by Cedar Fair soon.
