  1. SkyHawk is the best flat ride at Cedar Point, it's a shame it has so many problems.
  2. All Cedar Fair parks and several others
  3. I'm pretty sure just as usual, there are actually just as many, if not more, people complaining about the complainers. It's a theme park forum, it'd be pretty boring here if everyone loved/hated the same things. On the topic of Holiday World though, I'm not too familiar with the HW/KK demographics and market, but even for smaller parks both their gate admissions seem very reasonable (if not a tad low!).
  4. I'm still curious how they're going to deal with... 1.) Hyena Falls being in the middle of a Thanksgiving themed area, considering it seemed so random already 2.) Make the long walk (we're talking 2004-2007 Dollywood Timber Canyon walk here) somewhat nice looking with theming The ride looks great though - I just wish it would have started a new holiday themed area or fit in with Thanksgiving much more. For a theme park that brags about being the first theme park, Thunderbird seems a lot like a recent Cedar Fair addition (Banshee) theme wise when fitting in. It seems much more like a Doomsday or Halloween themed ride than Thanksgiving to me, haha. But like I said, the actual ride itself looks great, exactly what this park needed in my opinion.
  5. ^ If I had to guess, it happens to 90%+ of all riders who ride it. That's all the GP ever talks about!
  6. ^ No need for a All KD's water park really needs is some renovating, updating, and a few new slides (a retheme would just be a bonus!). If they did that with the addition of 40th Celebration updates around the park, I'd call next year a successful year!
  7. ^ Well to be honest, they're not going to tell you "Yup, that's what we're doing for 2015". WaterWorks is getting additions next year, but it is a question of will it be renamed? And if it is, what will it be called? I do however find it nice that they responded, PR at the park has really been improved this season really wanting to answer all guests/fans questions and/or concerns.
  8. You're 13, you have time to recuperate. I'm glad you like the park - as far as night rides go, give 305 one more chance in the dark as it's an unbelievable experience and be sure to ride Grizzly at night. Dominion at Dusk is quite good for Cedar Fair.
  9. I hear it on a constant basis believe it or not, all over the place. Now, some don't say "forces", but complain about bigger rides being "weak" or "not powerful". It does matter to some of the people that aren't coaster enthusiasts believe it or not - that's part of the reason why I believe Banshee is doing so well, it has some good forces unlike the majority of B&Ms recently. Now for a park like Holiday World that already has The Voyage, forces aren't needed on this ride... they're putting in a ride with exactly the level of intensity/thrill for us as I was expecting. Good for them.
  10. ^ They are open 364 days a year where as other Cedar Fair parks are lucky to be open 120-140 days a year... that should be an expectation to have the most earnings
  11. ^ They're not going to respond, bud. But we do know for certain there are survey markings throughout WaterWorks and this has been rumored for next season for quite a while - along with more 40th Celebration improvements bringing the past back to the park. I'm excited for more 2015 teasers/announcements and 2014 Halloween Haunt teasers/announcements. I've already heard rumblings of the idea of a B&M launcher for 2016/2017 since HW's announcement last night. It would make perfect sense at KD, which is known for it's past with launch coasters and lack of an original B&M.
  12. 2015 update Either they are happy they got the tease out and/or they realized how that people noticed the Soak City logo - it is gone from the advertisement now. I'm still confident with 2015 being a transformation and renovation of WaterWorks to Soak City. BEFORE: NOW:
  13. ~~ Patiently waiting for racist remarks about the Native American themed "Thunderbird" ~~ I'll give my opinion on it later when all this calms down... about what I expected though
  14. Got my popcorn ready to watch the announcement and more importantly the reaction on TPR afterwards - let the games begin! I hope you Holiday World fanboys have your Kleenexes ready for a variety of reasons.
  15. ^ I'd agree with that list of wishes. I wonder if we could possibly see an entrance to the water park added between Ricochet and Hurler? That would bring foot traffic back there (which is needed), make the water park entrance not so congested, and not make the water park be a giant dead end. Probably not going to happen, but I like the idea.
  16. ^ They'll definitely repaint almost the entire area for sure. Fortunately, KD already has 2 wave pools so the budget won't be wasted on adding a new one like at KI therefore allowing more slides I hope. I'd love a mat-racer as well. Personally, I love anything that uses a raft/mat, I just don't enjoy body slides at all - although I do ride.
  17. Well there's a first. I've never heard anyone say those words. It should be interesting to see when BGW announces this ride. Their announcements vary from year to year in the way they reveal them.
  18. This needs done. WaterWorks is the only area of the park that needs renovations to be up to par with the rest of the park. The water park gets just as crowded during summer days as the dry park often, and therefore should be expanded since the last time it was done was in 2007. It's been 8 years next season since anything was even touched in WaterWorks. New slides, paint, names, theming, ect. will be a great way to freshen up this area and advertise it as a whole new section for 2015. I'd actually expect some really good slides going in. Also, this won't be the only thing done to the park. Next year is the second part of the 40th Celebration, so we'll see more of what was done this season which has been fantastic. With this done plus Soak City I feel like KD will be in the best shape it's ever been going ahead into adding the next thrill machine in 2016/2017. I will take continued 40th Celebration improvements and a complete overhaul of a whole area of the park before a low-capacity coaster with 3 hour waits next season, but maybe that's just me. The exact right thing is being done to KD next season and I can't wait to see the park being so well-rounded, especially for a Cedar Fair park!
  19. Kings Dominion teasing? This never happens... but they are for 2015! Check out the homepage https://www.kingsdominion.com/ Look at the WaterWorks advertisement What's that behind the WaterWorks logo you may ask? Between this and the surveying going on in WaterWorks, Soak City 2015 is a guarantee folks.
  20. ^ We do need more Intamins, especially gigas. But that won't be happening for Carowinds... if you've been on Leviathan, you've basically been on Carowinds' new coaster already.
  21. No way - I say 2017 max. This is still one of Cedar Fair's larger parks and has to compete with Busch Gardens and Six Flags America. And to be honest, these articles are misleading when discussing the decision to build up Carowinds or Kings Dominion. 1.) the have said Charlotte put in a better offer for expansion, but Hanover County (KD) has said they never heard about the offer 2.) Cedar Fair is moving some of its corporate offices to the Charlotte area and wanted to make Carowinds more of a destination park 3.) Carowinds is the bottom of the barrel when it comes to comparing it with the other big 3 former Paramount Parks (CW, KI, KD), it definitely deserves some attention since it didn't get any for nearly a decade and fell well behind the competition. In all honesty, Carowinds NEEDS this, Kings Dominion does not. Even with a giga next year and everything else they have added recently, Kings Dominion will still be a more rounded, better park... plus it has trees
  22. I'd be much, much more excited if it was a Mack coaster, but I'm still 100% convinced this is basically Leviathan 2.0 from B&M.
  23. Even without those two rides I feel KD has a good lineup going with Drop Tower (best I've been on), Dominator (best floorless I've been on), Windseeker, Flight of Fear, and Rebel Yell (better than Thunder Road at Carowinds or Racer at KI), and more.
