Shane's Amusement Attic
SoCalCoasters replied to montezooma's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I really need to stop posting stuff when I'm half awake Yes, I did deserve that. I should have noticed the date change... As for the thrill lift, that is a design I've always wished Vekoma had at least attempted... Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there only one tilt coaster currently in the world because of the amount of issues the tilt mechanism causes? -

Thanks! The idea just suddenly hit me while I was watching an episode of Phineas & Ferb last night. -

I absolutely cannot wait until Friday (now Monday) arrives! Your vast collection of of amusement park memorabilia has always seemed never ending? What will happene when Shane's amusement attic is all cleaned out? Anyway, I would love to hear more about Paramount's plans and some more info on Areo World, the propposed San Diego theme park. And this was my 900th post! -
Favorite type of B&M Coaster?
SoCalCoasters replied to MummyAW's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Agreed. I went to BGT for the first time this summer, and I was blown away at how intense and overall awesome Kumba, Montu and ShieKra were. While ShieKra may only have the intense first drop, it still makes my top ten. Montu is the only coaster I can't marathon more than 3-4 times without feeling a bit off. -
That would mean that this building will also have the two lifts shown in the construction for Hollywood's. Like I said on a previous page, I'll be very curious to see how the elevators are run, with one or two elevators per shaft... The latter seems more likely for capacity's sake. This thing should be a major people eater!

Has anyone ever watched closely as the train goes through the loop on Screamin'? The thing shakes like crazy. Wouldn't surprise me if they've removed the loop to rehab the loop itself. While I know that yes, the ride is meant to withstand forces, after a while, it seems like all that shaking would put quite a bit of wear on the loop.

Europa Park Discussion Thread

Is it just me, or does this layout seem a tad bit short compared to what GCI usually builds? I'm not sure if it's the overview, but it only looks like a thirty second ride. It will be an amazing thirty seconds however. -
When they were building Big Spin, they used the laza area as a place for prepping track for installation. I mean, do you really think they'd haul every piece one by one from the backstage area of the park over to the site while disturbing park operations? No. I'm pretty sure the area will be closed for Holiday in the park. It's really not that big of a deal, as there's still 5 other coasters operational. Although Medusa, Kong and Sky Screamer will probably have obscene waits due to the fact that two major coasters will be unable to operate. Due note however that the back of the park is usually completely deserted during HitP, but also closes early. Boomerang, Voodoo, Taz amd Hammerhead are usually walk-ons.

They usually go down for the winter in late September or Early October and don't usually reopen till March. If I recall correctly, Monsoon Falls does something along similar lines. Neither ride, as well as the water fortress in Looney Toons Seaport are closed during the limited hours of Holiday in the Park. On a side note, the crowds are usually relatively light during Holiday in the park, and the special events around the park are really worth checking out. Expect one or two major ride being down though. This year I suspect that a good Majority of the "Sky" area will be closed for the construction of Superman, as the same thing occurred during Pandemonium's building period.
