New ride @ Ok Corral [France]
SoCalCoasters replied to fdelhomez's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
So it can operate as a shuttle and as a full circuit coaster? -
^^I really liked Brave, but yeah it felt safe. On the other hand, I saw Cars 2 last night.... I don't have anything nice to say...

Intamin and Premier have managed some pretty ridiculous/twisted movement with six seater cars, but at this point I think it would be far more likely to see four seater or two seater vehicles. Aside from the seating arrangement of the attraction, I'm interested in seeing what the trains look like. It'd love to see RMC embrace a very open air train design while still managing all the class of a traditional woodie look (similar to El Toro).

-starting rumors- So I wonder if a new transfer track means new trains? -
Couple things I'm seeing here so far: Vary your tree types and heights a bit more. The game gave you several different heights for a reason. Even though the shaping of the trees varies slightly when you place them, using different heights will make it seem less copy>paste. This is a forest, terrain shaping is your good friend. Use the terrain editor to your advantage. Make the terrain in your park dyanamic and interesting. It will make the park feel much more natural. Use a variety of plants and flowers. Use shrubs and bushes along with your flowers. Think of the surrounds as a real garden and then try to use the in game pieces to craft your vision. Don't limit yourself to the game, imagine, then create. You're better off just building a park instead of focusing on a story. A good story should complement the quality of the park. Instead of trying to develop an in-depth storyline, focus on park building first. Then once you be gotten better at park building, focus on a story. It's looking good so far, refine the point above and I think you'll do better. Take your time, don't rush. Far too many people rush their parks and 99% of the time they turn out poorly made.

Mario World / Nintendo Land?
SoCalCoasters replied to RedSpecial's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ Considering that Nintendo is currently in the middle of trying to boost the reputation of a console that disappointed a good majority of the gaming community when it was shown off at E3, I doubt they would want to get involved with a project as risky and expensive as a theme park. The concept here has been suggested before, and yes the market might be big enough, but there's just too many variables at this point in time for it to be anything more than a fanboy pipe dream. Nintendo is first and foremost a video game company. Considering that they aren't doing very well in the public eye currently a park like this would take too much time away from the console development. If Nintendo were license its products to a park, they would obviously want creative input. That creative input requires time and money, lots of it. If the WiiU ended up being a surprise success, then they'll move on to their next big and innovative idea. Putting together a hodgepodge of ideas with no real cohesiveness at this point would not work. It's a cool dream, but I really doubt at this point in time that it will ever be anything more than that. Closest thing you can get to this is the Sega Arcade/Park Hybrids, and even those aren't true theme parks. Not to mention they are on a much smaller scale and haven't seen widespread success. Hidden/Secluded Park Areas
SoCalCoasters replied to coastercrazy 9's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Legoland CA has several somewhat deserted areas. There's a section of path leading right facing the old Spell Breaker entrance that hardly gets any use, there's the enchanted walk, and then the pathed area where the old entrance to the sky cruiser was before they moved it. -
And those environmentalists never stop to think twice about how much money "Ride ABC" would have brought to the city in the long run, and improved the overall park. This kinda reminds me of the absolutely facepalm-inducing story about that Movie Studio George Lucas was attempting to build in Marin. A multi billion dollar project that would have boosted the city's economy and brought in high paying jobs...he even did numerous environmental studies.... Then all the NIMBYs started raising hell and high water over the dumbest stuff, and Lucas walked away from the project... The kicker? He's selling the land to a Low Income Housing Developer. Here's a little bit more in-depth talk about the situation. Next time NIMBYs in Santa Cruz whine about the Boardwalk, someone should just show them this.

Movieland Studios Discussion Thread
SoCalCoasters replied to DragonKhan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The lift mechanisms on Invertigos are insanely complex. Add in the fact that the ride was temperamental and didn't have catwalks on the lift, and you've got a recipe for trouble. The ride hindered the park more than it helped it, so it was removed. End of Story. -
Just sort of a question I have for you about this project... What exactly do you hope to create with this project? How much effort are you willing to put in to make it the best it can possibly be? Have you tried combining any scenery sets? These questions will help determine how you want to approach your attractions and how you want to detail them. You have a good base, but you should expand upon and detail your current surroundings. Good luck. Also I agree about Batman. Look at the scenario in soaked with the theme park in the city. Look at some of those buildings them try to add some around Batman.

Vekoma Pandora's Box
SoCalCoasters replied to Mechanic's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^If I recall correctly, isn't Efteling's new darkride confirmed as being a Pandora's box? I recall seeing a thread a while back where someone snapped a picture of a Pandora's Box Vehicle Model on display in the park....
