  1. http://www.standardspeaker.com/news/knoebels_adds_new_mini-coaster There is an article from a local paper with some good info on the ride. They said they are hoping they will get it up and running this weekend. Had no idea that HSTC was powered by canned propane.
  2. Great TR, Glad to hear you liked Knoebels. The Phoenix is a great coaster and still packs quite a punch. One of the great things about it is that it hasn't changed much since it was relocated to pa back in 85. It still rides the same and has aged very well. The only real thing to change about it is the trees around it have gotten bigger.
  3. I found this article on Six Flags' Flashpass. I can't believe it's over 80 bucks at Magic Mountain if you want to ride X2 and Terminator. http://www.walletpop.com/blog/2009/07/24/is-six-flags-line-jumping-flash-pass-worth-the-ransom-you-pay-f/ MOD EDIT by larrygator: moved to SFMM discussion thread
  4. Great Tr. I remember driving by this park a few years ago but didn't have time to stop in. It seems like it is a bit underrated.
  5. One of the best trip reports ever!
  6. Great TR! That car you took a pic of is actually a ford thunderbird from the mid 80's dressed up.
  7. Just plain sad. It sucks they're taking out a great coaster like BBW. Hopefully they'll put in another b&m or a GCI woody.
  8. I figured Drachen Fire's old station is the building you can see from the train, but I never realized it was to the side of Festhaus, thought it was directly behind.
  9. For all you BGE veterans out there, I was just curious as to where their past roller coasters were located in the park. I know where Drachen Fire was(behind Festhaus), but I see there were four other coasters there,Das Kätzchen,Die Wildkatze,Glissade, and Wild Maus.
  10. I love to get the "Three amigos". It has a lot of flavor. The ice cream waffles are a must, the waffles are usually pretty hot.
  11. Great TR, really nice pics, TPR events always look like such a great time.
  12. Great TR of a great park. It would be really nice to see them get metro up and running.
  13. Cesari's pizza is good for park pizza but there are places in northeast pa that put it to shame. As for other places to eat, the international food court has some really interesting food like the bison burger which is pretty good. There are some good deserts, like an apple pie roll type of thing and fried brownies. Also the oasis usually has an all-you-can-eat featuring something different every night of the week.
  14. Captain E.O. was great. Saw it in 1987.
  15. What happened with Twisted Twins?
  16. Nice TR, glad to see you got to ride the Phoenix. It's a very, very rare thing when the Phoenix closes.
  17. Rarest credit in the world, ever. http://www.rcdb.com/ig3458.htm?picture=12
  18. I remember riding Lightning Racer on it's opening weekend, there was a bad thunderstorm there the first Saturday. The Wildcat/LR midway seems so much more jam packed now with all those water rides in there.
  19. Manhattan Express is a horrible, horrible ride.
  20. Quite a while back, I remember a group of people riding Gemini at CP 100 times. Personally I rode Phoenix about twenty times in a row right after the park closed during an ERT session.
  21. The Queen Mary in Long Beach has some very interesting tours with lots of good information about the history of the ship.
  22. I've never seen so many people lined up for hand stamps. They were lined up across the bridge and under the Knoebels sign out on the road. Also, I didn't see anyone making out with the 1001 naughts, that's always a good thing.
  23. The Phoenix was at a park in San Antonio. Knoebels was the first park to relocate a wooden roller coaster.
  24. Good point. In our little town here, there isn't much else to eat.
