  1. Well I'm assuming that the 10 year old without the disability is more capable of defending himself, or trying to escape, and if that's the case.. than it's worse. If the boy unknowingly provoked the kids, i.e. they assumed he was just screwing with them without knowing he had an issue.. than there should have been supervision. Kids can be damned cruel, but most I've ever run across still had a heart for the disabled.
  2. Well, I was just speaking to the coaster being a FAIL. And I think I speak for everyone when I say I approve of trims that save lives
  3. I was going to say something along the lines of "S&S is lucky they didn't build this thing in KD, those kids would lynch the execs".. but I thought it'd be in bad taste
  4. New map looks cool. When the skyride is back up, it will take the same path? Kind of sad how you can look at the history of the park's expansion and be able to assume that in 15 years or so, that northeast corner won't be housing animals.. though I imagine that the zoo aspect is probably a huge write off. I'm having a very hard time conceptualizing this track on that map, as in where it's going to be. I'm looking at the 'plans', then back at the map.. It doesn't help that the map isn't exactly 'to scale', and it certainly doesn't help that I'm an idiot..Well, as in to say that the only place where I see it would have it chilling with lions and elephants, I wonder how the animals would react to a coaster being that close?
  5. Are they going to have to modify the skyride for the coaster? I think it's pretty awesome we are going to have a top view of the construction as it goes. I just hope they don't shut it down before we get some good coaster construct pics.
  6. So for people who don't like dinosaurs, don't go to the Jurassic area.. people who don't like comic books, don't go to the comic book land.. gotcha. And for those of you who don't like Dr. Seuss.. go to hell. It looks to me to have a wizard/dragon theme, no? What is the theme of the comic book land? Or the Jurassic Park land? We are talking about a Universal park here, not Disney. Universal seems to just exploit movies and builds rides centered around them. I doubt people will be turned off by the HP portion of the park because of 'lack of theme', even if there is no 'learning moment'. I do totally agree, and tend to lean towards the Disney parks for exactly what you and Robb are talking about.. but put in context, this land is just like everything else Universal has done at the park, and I think the theme of HP is equally approachable compared to the others in IOA.
  7. .. in regards to the comparison of the staying power of Star Trek to HP and the question of whether HP has a big enough 'following'.. don't you think the HP genre has a much wider base? I mean we are talking about a very broad range of kids age-wise around the world.. for a pretty long span. Over 10 years. Highest grossing book series, highest grossing movie series. That's a lot of people .. And you don't expect younger generations to read these books? It's not like "She stops writing and people stop buying the books and watching the movies altogether." It's not like this is the first time Universal has built a themed area based on a movie or book series that is complete/near complete... And even if people don't like the HP series specifically.. who the hell doesn't like wizards and dragons in general???
  8. And speaking of the NL east.. I think it's safe to assume that even with the insertion of Strasburg, that the Nat's wont be able to stay up in the 1/2 spot in the East if they stay at before the trade deadline. And this could totally be a rumor, but I'm pretty sure I heard that the Nationals may be interested in a top shelf pitcher at the deadline if they are still treading water. Imagine if they were able to grab Lee, or Oswalt. I'd imagine Lee is the more likely scenario. I could definitely see them competing for at least the NL wildcard if the had a 1-2 punch like that.
  9. Price might have a rough night. Just gave up a walk followed by a homer... ugh. COMON RAYS!!!!
  10. Wet N Wild's slide is the best. The trap door is a cool idea.
  11. Did I miss the release of this one?
  12. What is going to happen to the B&M? I could care less about the crappy premier
  13. This is the only ride out of the US that I told myself "I'd travel to ride that"
  14. Obviously they wanted this thing open as soon as possible.. but with all the greying out, etc early on.. It is kind of a head scratcher that in such a 'sue-happy' culture we live in, that KD decided to open it without more trims right out of the gate. Robb and the locals around KD could probably attest to the fact that this thing was WAYYY too fast and intense for the GP. I remember watching the first pov's with people on it, thinking.. "This thing would be too hardcore for a NoLimits coaster"
