  1. You guys are probably right. I'll just wait and see.
  2. Let me just say it again, that drop will NOT be 85 degrees at ANY point.
  3. [q To paraphrase Elissa, you can't polish a turd. LOL! Are you kidding me, I've seen people make art out of turds!
  4. I basically said that very thing in the post above. I'm not sure where Krax was getting the lying part from. Anyhoo, who cares? I like the fact that they've made this decision and that's what matters. Save the drama for my mama...
  5. It amazes me that people even wince at the price tag for this. New trains, redesigned station, paint job AND new effects? I would imagine that the trains have been paid for already. I don't foresee them spending the $10 million all at once, but rather the trains and other additions separately. Six Flags and Cedar Fair are famous for inflating press releases to make them sound more impressive than they are. I bet the real *2008* figure (not including the trains) would land somewhere around $3 million.
  6. I suspect we'll see a few flats over the next few years, as the "anti-flat ride" guy just retired.
  7. ^ I agree with the "EL Toro" thing, but also keep in mind that "any" coaster built at SFMM will be quite different than we are used to. It probably would be built with families in mind, and not stand much taller than 80-100ft. That is certainly a possibly for Psyclone's spot, but probably another year or two off. I expect to see a Thomas area, new X trains, a flat or two, and the possible removal of Deja Vu. I would think that the other park's will get the 2008 focus, and SFMM's will be pushed back to 2009, allowing the new GM to get up to speed with the park's needs.
  8. Well I'm fairly certain we'll see a Thomas area somewhere in the park next year. The one at Discovery Kingdom turned out quite nicely. With SFGam and SFGadv getting indoor Batman coasters next year, SFMM will get mostly focus on infrastructure improvements and some new kiddy rides, which is all the park deserves or needs. As for Psyclone's spot, I personally think it could become just a "non ride" area. I could be wrong though. I just can't imagine a kiddy area on the back side of the park, forcing parents to drag their toddlers back there just for a few small rides. The 'new' monorail trains will help, but that's still a long way from the front of the park. And Wiggles World is a dying phenom, just like I suspected. No more of those, please!
  9. Hymmm...just as I suspected. The first drop is 74 degrees, not 85.
  10. I blame Mark Shapiro. A bad "rookie" move IMO, was to blast the park and threaten to take his toys and move, only to then wind up having to keep the park. Now that rumor refuses to die and I think really affected this year's attendance. To kill this rumor, they're going to have to invest heavily in the park, and market the crap out of it.
  11. I have something new. Does anyone else think that the first drop is NOT going to be 85 degrees? If the concept art is any real indication, it doesn't look near that to me.
  12. I did a quick count and it seems as though GCI has generated the most favorable responses.
  13. With Shapiro trying to lower the skyrocketing operational costs at SFMM, I can't possibly see them re-assembling Flashback...ever.
  14. I actually like Great America...a lot. It's got that Northern Cal feeling of unpretentiousness. Like Rob says though, the park BADLY needs a few more flats and a signature coaster. Nothing huge, perhaps something like Balder or Stealth at Thorpe Park. That park needs something with airtime badly.
  15. ^ Yeah, I really like the new Intamin restraints (Maverick, Storm Runner) for much of the same reason. We've come a long way since the Arrow days. You don't need to feel trapped in a train (with your riding partner practically in your lap) to feel safe.
  16. If this is how people express their happiness, some of you need some anti-depressants. It's one thing to have a constructive dialog about the pros and cons of a new ride, but don't sit there and act like you've ridden it already, because you haven't. "Oh Cedar Fair's going to ruin it with brakes" or "it's just a bunch of hills". I mean, really laughable stuff. I guess it's ok to have a negative opinion, but not ok to have a negative opinion of an opinion. Give me a (trim) brake! And the seating will work just like a 2-seater, only you'll have a choice to sit together in the front or split in the back. Big friggin deal. I like that while other companies are boxing you in and stapling you into their cars like sardines, B&M is offering more and more freedom.
  17. Yeah I don't get all the pre-ride whining from enthusiasts but hey, that's nothing new. I LOVE and I mean LOVE the new train design. You'll get a much better view and the longer trains should provide more air(especially on that AWESOME looking first drop). Part of the problem with Deja Vu's trains is that you can't see where your sitting ahead of time. That should not be a problem on a hyper train. And what's with everyone feeling this need to sit right next to their friends, or some stinky kid who's been sweating in an amusement park all day? At least it's not like X, where you can't see anyone one else on the entire train other than that unlucky person stuck on the outside seat. The things enthusiasts worry about...
  18. ^ I hope you weren't being sarcastic because I agree with you. I don't get all the Superman bashing, I really don't. The launch is a bit weak, but I think the ride is fun, and the whole family can ride it. It's also one of the few rides in the park that doesn't strap you in like your blasting into space or beat you up like a prize fighter. It's just a fun ride.
  19. Back seat all the way. Blows me away every time!
  20. I agree with everything above! But I also think that this park needs the "E" ticket of all "E" tickets. A MONSTER attraction of Indiana Jones, Tower Of Terror, Expedition Everest proportions, that's exclusive to DCA only.
  21. It doesn't really matter anyway....travel with TPR...we'll take you to them! --Robb Next year, without a doubt!
  22. Both are wonderful coasters. I guess that's not good enough, one of them has to WIN. No wonder people think enthusiasts are weird...
