I think people do a lot of ribbing of SFMM because it can be fun, but I don't think people flat out hate the park, otherwise why keep going? To me it's a good not great park that people seem to think could be great with better choices made by the management. I'm over that school of thought. For me, pinning and hoping for what could be is a waste of time. I enjoy the park for what it is, and seek what it lacks elsewhere. The end.

2013- What are you most excited for?
Manic Monte replied to Chroniq's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
There are some very good looking coasters opening next year. Iron Rattler, Gold Striker, Gatekeeper and Full Throttle all look terrific, and most importantly, very re-rideable. Looking forward to 2013! -
I would think that the delay (if you call it that) would NOT be SFMM fault this time, if the parts are just being shipped out now. Right? Um, they don't even have footers poured yet...even if they had all the track pieces on site, they wouldn't be able to do anything with them. So feel to explain to me who's fault it is? Who's fault what is?

^^ Well I don't think anyone necessarily likes the investment aspect of another quick fix coaster, but the fact is, it's coming whether we like it or not. It's certainly not Premier Rides fault, as they make very good launch coasters. So at this point I will judge Full - Throttle the same way I judge everything else. Either I like it or I don't.

I don't either. I mean I love Xcelerator, it's got a GREAT launch, a terrific top hat, and two completely useless over bank turns. But it's not a complete coaster experience by any means. It's a gimmick ride. A very good gimmick, but a gimmick none the less. I would put Full Throttle in a similar category, but it does do a few more tricks. Yes, once again SFMM wastes perfectly good terrain here, but let's not get silly. We're still more likely than not, in for a quality Premier launch coaster.

Haha. I'm having flashbacks to the reaction to Pony Express. Almost word for word the same complaints. Just on a larger scale. Still, it looks like a fun ride and if the park delivers a smooth, fast and fun ride, ultimately I think most people will end up being happy with it. I love Xcelerator despite it being far too short.

Actually, I would say Full Throttle is more of a response to Xcelerator. Both are short and gimmicky and feature similar top hat highlights. Other than that, I'm not sure I'd read too much into why they went with a short Premier design over Intamin/Mack other than the usual cost cutting coming out of corporate and maybe a good relationship with Premier.

Better Theming or More Track

I'd pick theme almost every time. Short rides don't bother me as much as most people, but I love a ride that immerses you. -
There are inversions, and then there is SFMM, where it is beyond overkill. It"s like they feel they have to turn people upside down every time out, which is ridiculous. At least Full Throttle has a Snake Dive element which is my personal favorite. But I would trade the vertical loop for another top hat.
