  1. Honestly, "renewed relationship" could mean just about every manufacturer if you go back far enough. But what makes sense? Some obscure ride built 15 years ago that no one would remember? Or something more iconic? Seems to me his statement was meant to create some excitement, which would mean a fairly well known company that has built some well known rides for Cedar Fair in the past, that they haven't worked with a while. Just my interpretation.
  2. Well we can only speculate based on the info we've been given thus far, and so far it mostly points to RMC. I didn't need to have it completely spelled out to me to make an assumption that CP was getting a Dive Coaster. Everything began to point in that direction. I'm getting the same feeling from these teasers.
  3. World's first single rail Raptor coaster named Railblazer.
  4. I have a hard time believing this, especially when you have much older arrows like Loch Ness that are still running strong. I think there were some structural issues with Hulk and that's why they had to do the rebuild. Kumba is 6 years older than the original Hulk and nobody is talking about tearing it down. And it's probably run just as many if not more cycles than the original Hulk. All metal structures and machines have a certain lifespan built into it that can be abbreviated or extended due to stress or maintenance/parts replacement. The USAF has five-decade-old B-52s and KC-135s still flying that have hardly an original part left on the airframe. Different conditions lead to different amounts of wear and tear. Viper is taller and faster than Loch Ness and has longer year round operating hours. Likewise Hulk often opened earlier, closed later, and had higher daily ridership than Kumba. All of these things can contribute to greater wear and tear. Yeah maybe not this year, or next, but eventually Viper will either be removed or remodeled. How quickly we forget Robb's ominous post last year about "hearing things" about Viper. That didn't mean prepare for the immediate removal of the ride. But something is probably in the works down the line.
  5. The ride is definitely better than Knott's Voyage, and on par with DCA's Toy Story ride. But this type of ride makes more sense for a younger crowd, which works at a Disney park, but seems kind of random at a park like Magic Mountain. I'm not saying people won't ride it once they're at the park, but to think this is going to attract a crowd over 15 years old *to come out and actually visit the park for it* is stretching it a bit. And guess who spends the most money at parks? Families.... Magic Mountain will make more money off the 15 year kid whose whole family tags along than they will a teenager who shows up and doesn't spend a penny besides their initial pass purchase (or monthly payment)... Except SFMM has neglected family stuff for over a decade. That's how SF Corporate thinks about all the parks except MM and Gadv. Both neglect family rides in general and have not gotten family friendly flats. I believe the last flats for both were 450 and 400 ft drop towers. not family friendly at all It's never too late to balance out the park. And with Six Flag's limited spending the past few years, that's probably what's about the happen anyway. I'm guessing next year will be another non coaster year as the park adds flats or kids rides instead. Six Flags limited spending is not a few years, it's been since bankruptcy. It's all based on a formula since bankruptcy. It's here to stay and their EBIDTA is great. There is no way they are changing and said so in their investor presentation. People just didn't notice the limited spending b/c 2011-2016 b/c they were adding RMC's, YOLOcoaster, Xflight. Now that it's 4D's and superloops everywhere people seem to notice and think this is pull back. They are actually spending slightly more money each year since bankruptcy they are just spending on cloned garbage to a large extent. Oh no, we've noticed, trust me. It's still a far cry from that Thomas Town, Wiggles nonsense from the Shapiro years. The limited spending now is yielding things their parks have needed since forever. Dark rides, family rides, waterpark additions, flat rides., breathing new life into old, beat up coasters. This is a GOOD thing. Well.. except for enthusiasts that miss 25 million dollar mediocre B&Ms every other year. The thing is they have a done horrible job. The parks are literally becoming all the same. They have to gimmick rides as their supposed "flagship rides" that are not going to hold up to time. JL's are a video game, people and kids lose interest in video games quickly. I an tell you know 1 year after JL's in some parks the line is nothing, it's a virtual walk on at some parks. 4D's lines are just b/c the capacity stinks, the thing gets less than 500/hr in reality though spec is 720/hr Finally, the parks that need flat rides the most SFFMM and GAdv haven't gotten them and the parks that need coasters badly Stl. LaRonde, SFA haven't gotten nothing. SF is essentially banking on the people in these areas will keep buying passes and allowing themselves to be "abused" and neglected by SF, by getting year after year of poor additions I know this may sound weird, but I really don't care that much. I like the last few additions that SFMM has added to the park, and that's where it pretty much ends. I don't care that much what the chain is "banking on" because that's not my problem. Maybe it's getting older, but my days of ranting and shaking my fists at SF are over. It's boring. My friends and I will make fun of SF from time to time, but whatever... JL won't appeal to the folks it doesn't appeal to, but during my visit, people were loving it. And of course TC was a completely solid addition. If flats come next year (because that's pretty much what they're limited to), I'll be a happy camper! And at the end of the day, I still have Knotts and Disney to feel the "quality" quota.

  8. My assumption is that some of those projects are other companies having RMC make their track. For instance they make the track for the S&S Free Spin. I also know they are making the track for the Skywarp. If he included these third party projects it is impossible for us to tell how many actual RMC coasters are coming next year from this comment. Ugh... you're probably right, deflating some of my excitement. I gotta admit, I'm a bit thin on the Free Spin rides. They're fun, but not all that exciting.
  9. Wow, possibly 7 RMC projects next year, including one in Japan. Hmmm...that leaves 4 projects that we don't know about yet. Let the speculation continue!
  10. I rode it today and LOVED it. From the sound of it, this just isn't for you. This is for families interested in more than just riding coaster after coaster in 90 degree heat. I thought it was great fun and so well crafted by Six Flags and Sally rides. Thank GOD SFMM has added something different to this park. I can't say enough about it.
  11. I have a hard time believing the CF would leave such an obvious clue as SR1=Sky Rocket 1. They are usually way more cryptic and trolling than that. I think SR1 is a red herring. For all we know it could mean Speed Racer, or maybe nothing at all.
  12. Yeah, I'm not ready to jump aboard the Sky Rocket I train just yet. It doesn't really fit the "new type of coaster" or "renewed relationship" bill, and it also doesn't feel like Cedar Fair's style, unless they were going really BIG with it. Just my opinion, but I feel like they will want to make a statement out at CGA next year. A world's first would certainly do that. But that's just me. Maybe they are choosing to play it safe...
  13. You asked. I took it as needing to be explained. My bad. I can take things too literal sometimes. I meant no offense. I'm sorry. No biggie. Thanks for understanding. Let's move on.
  14. ^ You really could have spared us that long explanation, as you're not telling me anything I don't already know. My point is, parks can make decisions that may not make sense to us, but totally make sense behind the scene. Cedar Point can start work on Mean Streak a year early, and Knotts COULD begin work on a new project with a similar time frame in mind, as we know not the scale of this upcoming project from the outside, unless you know something I don't. I'm not saying that's what's going to happen, I only threw out the possibility. I know you follow this project every day, but not all of us do. It was a simple question, not someone looking for a fight. So spare me the lectures and snarky attitude please.
  15. That's not how what works? Did CGA immediately replace Invertigo? Did SFMM immediately replace Log Jammer?
  16. That makes no sense. Why remove Boomerang, a fairly popular attraction prior to the busy Summer season if they aren't going to begin construction on its replacement until later on? No whatever they have planned they needed all the extra time. Right now they have been working inside The BOP Boardwalk building. Everything doesn't have to always make sense to us. Maybe they found a buyer that wants to get it up and running by next year.
  17. Could we be looking at a 2019 project rather than next year?
  18. LOL...I love all the discussion on these rides. Some park IS installing one next year, and my guess is it won't be just at some fun center lol. I remember the interviews with RMC where they hinted that this track can be installed anywhere, and can be built to customer specifications, including launches. i think people are thinking too inside the box.
  19. What's the difference between a Gerstlauer Eurofighter and Infinity coaster? Is it just the trains? Because I've heard the rumors as well, but I've heard "Infinity", not Eurofighter.
  20. Perhaps. But to be fair, within those parameters Six Flags has still managed to be the ones to grab RMC early to create some of the best rides on the planet starting with New Texas Giant. They've also manged to created a pretty slick dark ride (something nobody could have seen coming), AND bring back the "flat ride package" to their parks (something else no one saw coming). If they can do that again in 2018, I'm all in.
  21. Except Knotts, which can be nearly as bad depending on when you catch them.
  22. I know it's Six Flags and all, but it's really pathetic that this wasn't open by Memorial Day. They've had since the announcement in September to work on it and it's not like they have weather delays in LA. Plus it's not a prototype either, so it just baffles me that it's taken so long to build. Crazy to think that Twisted Colossus opened on time but a JL clone is so behind schedule. I was thinking the same thing. When I went the whole area was discussing and looked like atleast July. They were having issues with getting permits issued from the city. This delayed ground breaking and progress on the ride building and ride itself by several months. I know a few ride ops and leads in entertainment that have told me that it's looking like the ride won't be up and running with guests until August. Posted several pages back...
