  1. Robb, my question is about the videos posted in forum topics. Is there a way to set the videos so they don't automatically begin buffering when you open a forum page they have been embedded in? Its not much of a problem if there is a single video on a page, but when multiple videos start showing up, it has to buffer all of the videos on the page each time you load that page. Specifically, in the Shane's Amusement Attic - Kings Dominion post linked on the TPR home page (page 118) there are 3 videos and the Kings Dominion post. After buffering the multiple videos all of the images timed out and I had to right click and click "show picture" for each image. My download speed is 1700 kbps.
  2. ^ You dig it out. It grows in size and value each day that you water it so if you can remember to water it every day and then sell it on Saturday, you can make a bunch of bells. In the DS version, you could also give them to Wendell to get super rare items, but I am not sure it it works in the Wii version.
  3. I don't think anybody should get their hopes up for any type of "record breaking" coaster. Due to the location of the park near the San Jose Airport, they have severe height restrictions over most of the park. As far as I know, the location for Drop Zone was picked because that was one of the only spots the park could put a ride in of that height. CGA needs a new coaster in the next couple years, but Cedar Fair should not try to turn the park into the next SFMM. As for a list of possible projects/locations that I would like to see something happen... 1) Call in one of the companies to reprofile/retrack/demolish everything on the park side of the lift hill and first half of the first turn-around of grizzly and turn it into a "new coaster" (and get rid of the Morgan trains). As I mentioned, this should get rid of most of the problems the park has with neighbors complaining about the noise of a "new" coaster because they already have to deal with Grizzly in its current form and would probably give the park a lot of freedom on what the rest of the coaster should do. 2) If they want to remove something, remove Vortex and maybe the motion theater and use the available space for a new coaster and a random flat ride or two. They don't have to be themed, but nice landscaping or new buildings that the coaster is built over/under/through would keep it from being a void in the center of the park. Custom Intamin mini-hyper could work. After looking at an arial photo of the park, the still empty strip of land that used to hold Tidal Wave/Greased Lightning could fit a long skinny coaster run with a turn-around behind the CGA Theater. 3) Expand into the parking lot near Top Gun with a new coaster. Even a clone of the new Intamin Mini-Hyper that is making the rounds in Asia would be a good fit. Just don't pull a SFMM and just place footers in the parking lot. I guess this would require removing/relocating the Picnic Pavilion so this might be more of a long term expansion if Cedar Fair wanted to do it.
  4. Its good to hear the 49ers are looking elsewhere and to be honest, a joint stadium could be a really good idea considering the available sites along the east bay. The Santa Clara site always felt like it was just a playing card the 49ers were using to try to get SF to give them money and a site near AT&T park. As for CGA, new flat rides are always a good addition to a park (SFMM take note) or given the economy, get the 2010 plans sorted and start promoting the heck out of next year's addition(s).
  5. ^ They may have put forth the plans for a new wooden coaster, but the whoever decided that they should try to put a coaster in that location didn't do their research. To be honest, I don't think Great America had a chance at getting approval considering how close the coaster was to the office buildings at the front of the park. While I would have loved for this coaster to be built, I think it was announced to give the park a better hand in the 49ers stadium talks.
  6. ^ I think that CGA's biggest problem is with the City of Santa Clara. If I remember correctly, the park leases the land from the city and its the city that keeps giving up sections of the parking lot to new development. The only reason that the 49ers are looking at the parking lot for their new stadium is because the city offered the land to them.
  7. Flight Deck should stay. It may be short, but it is still one of the more entertaining B&M inverted coasters. And given B&M's recent trend towards the less forceful coasters, I think that any replacement would just be a major disappointment. While I like Vortex, I can see how getting rid of it could give the park a chance to put in something bigger and better. Invertigo and Demon need to stay, and as I mentioned in a previous post, Grizzly needs to either be fully demolished (if the neighbors will allow a replacement to be built) or completely retracked/reprofiled and given new trains.

  9. Based on all of the problems CGA has had in the past with complaints from neighbors over noise issues, I don't see Grizzly going anywhere in the near future. Given its location, CGA won't be able to get a replacement coaster approved by the city for that location due to the adjacent offices. I think Vortex would be removed before Grizzly because it would be a lot easier for them to put a new coaster in Vortex's spot due to it being further from the edge of the park. I was a bit shocked when CGA announced the GCI coaster they wanted to build this year because of how close it was to all of the new office buildings by the front of the park. If Cedar Fair wants to "replace" Grizzly, maybe they should call in GCI to give it a complete overhaul. Leave the lift hill and first half of the turn around as they are the highest parts next to the office buildings and then either demolish or just reprofile the rest of the ride and put new trains on it. The neighbors couldn't complain too much about this and CGA would get a new coaster and get rid of one of the most boring coasters on the planet.
  10. That looks like a fun coaster and it really takes advantage of its location above Barcelona. The view going down the first drop is amazing!
  11. ^ You have to finish all of your work for Tom Nook before it will let you get a Friend Code.
  12. I'm not sure where at Lake Tahoe you are, but Heavenly Ski Resort does have a zip line made by the same company that did the one in Haiti and from what I have seen, you have a beautiful view of the lake on the way down. However if you aren't skiing at Heavenly, you have to pay to take the gondola from South Lake up the mountain and then pay to ride the Heavenly Flyer. Its easier to just add the price of a ride onto a lift ticket I think.

  14. I have been enjoying your comments the last couple pages. Thank you for adding a bit of sarcasm to the typical SFMM needs more extreme coasters thread. As for my wishes for SFMM. Lots of flat rides, both modern and vintage if possible just to keep the variety there. After riding Survivor at CGA, a Disko Coaster would be a great addition. As for coasters, while I think a Dive Coaster could be a good fit (especially if they can fit it onto the mountain somehow) I think I would prefer a custom Gerstlauer spinning coaster or toboggan coaster. (If they need to increase the capacity, make it a dual track racing/dueling coaster but keep the tracks similar enough to not have one be much better than the other.)
  15. I don't have Wii internet access for a couple more days so I can't get online right now but I will add everyone here soon. This is the first time I have checked the forum since last friday and now I understand why all my residents are talking about Stacey in DCA.
  16. Name: Corbu Town: Ronchamp Friend Code: 5327-4400-8650 Fruit: Apples
  17. They had one in Parc Citreon in Paris when I was there in 2001. I considered going on it, but it was fairly windy and when they sent it up with one person on it, it was moving back an forth a lot. If I wasn't a scared of heights as I am, it probably would have been a very entertaining ride.
  18. With regards to the Wii Fit scale and using it on carpet. I used it for a couple weeks without the foot extenders on and had problems with my weight shifting after an excercise. It was also saying I was 10 lbs lighter than the real scale so I kept it like that. When I finally got around to putting the foot extenders on, the readings became accurate and I was scolded by the talking balance board for gaining 10 lbs in 24 hours and had to explain myself. And to Robb. Good luck on your goal. I gave up on Wii Fit after a couple weeks because it drove me crazy. Too many menus to click through. Currently, the balance board is hiding under the couch waiting for Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party to come out next week.
  19. I adore Threadless and probably have 10 of their shirts. Great design, I gave you a 5.
  20. I think the slab technique has more to do with the quality of the ground than anything else. Building a slab for the entire ride spreads the weight of the ride over the entire area instead of concentrating all of the weight on seperate footers. If I remember correctly, one of the big problems with Psyclone was that the ride kept settling after construction was finished. If that was true, the easiest and cheapest way for SFMM to build a new coaster on the same site would be to use the slab design for the foundation which theoretically, allows the entire ride to "float" over any possible movement in the ground. The other options would involve either removing and replacing all of the dirt on the site to provide a better and more stable base or provide deeper footings that connect the ride to more stable earth below.
  21. Janet Jackson at the Oracle Arena in Oakland on Sept. 13. Great show, but Miss Jackson needed to change the hair. The only way I can describe it was a huge Afro Mohawk (which was cool) with a mullet style tail going down her back (not so cool).
  22. Speaking of the hot sauce with the warning light on it... We tried it because we thought the other sauces were too sweet. It was very hot and the burn stayed with us for quite a while. You were wise to avoid it.
  23. I went twice this year and I don't think I took a single picture. The last two years, I had been lucky enough to work someplace that purchased tables in the Rib Village which was cool because it was all you can eat, but only had one sauce available from each of the stands. This year, my favorite was probably the place from New Jersey. I think they got the people's choice for their sauce.
  24. Its just Switzerland. No one will notice.
  25. Currently, my 30 gig ipod has 6148 songs 56 videos 6 pictures (BART Maps) 277 items purchased from itunes, 95% of the rest is ripped from my cd collection and the other 5%...
