  1. I know I've said it before, but for me, on a personal level, I can't justify the price point for WDW, it just doesn't do anything for me. Now, if I had kids, that might very well be a different story. That being said, I paid $140 for Daytona 500 tickets and what did I get? Pit access where elbow room was a premium, a rain shortened race, and a 4 hour drive back to Orlando. Was it worth the money to me to be able to sign my name on the start/finish line, sit on the infield grass, walk around the cars, yes, I was at the Daytona 500 and that in and of itself was all that mattered at the time. I would imagine many on this site would say about the Daytona 500 as I did about WDW, it doesn't do anything for them. The point I'm making here is that as long as you are happy with the product delivered, price is irrelevant. I paid the price, and was mostly happy with the product (not happy about the rain, but the promoter nor I have any control over that!).
  2. I haven't been to Kemah this year, but a quick check of their website indicates no new rides. Anyone been there yet this year?
  3. I'd go for cuteness, and Shamu Express delivers on that front.
  4. Personally if it's super hot outside, I don't eat as it makes me sick. I drink lots of fluids and wear a light t-shirt and swim trunks. I've found for me wearing jeans sticks like glue. Plus, if I want to tackle a water ride or at parks with included water parks, I'm ready to go! I also find arcades and the cheesy indoor shows to be nice places to cool off and/or take a nap. But generally, I leave a park in the heat of the day.
  5. ^ I will be in town starting the morning of the 20th. I'll probably run by there and see if they have anything of interest to a coaster enthusiast. Maybe I can snoop around and find out what the true plan is for it as well.
  6. I must say, they did a very nice job on the ride theming. I can't wait to get there!
  7. Simply beautiful. Looking forward to it's completion.
  8. Just uploaded the Grand Carousel from WoF. Let me know if they didn't come thru. Another one bites the dust.
  9. Final Part. Sperm all lit up. you can coast your mellow's Good Night Worlds of Fun.
  10. Part V (I think) Furious I wonder if these birds really were spotted along the Nile. Mamba, the one train wonder. While it was only a "station" wait, due to the 3:45 ride cycle, the 10 train wait = almost 40 minutes, this was Friday, June 3. On Saturday, the 4th, it opened with ONE train, CRAZY. The ride op's wanted two, but the mechanics only gave them one to start. I was told the third train should be on track within two weeks. Now, I have to give the crew credit. From the time the train parked, until dispatched, was less then 30 seconds. Just imagine the capacity this crew could pull with three trains! Closed. And this is why. So why not hit up PROWLER! I even saved a seat for a special coaster enthusiast! Compared to opening weekend, MUCH MUCH better, two trains, dispatched quickly, and the ride was moving swiftly, kicking some serious butt. boomathing So, I took the train ride, and found the missing kiddie ride. log ride. The sperm are still swimming. Prowler prowling Octopus pu...well you get it. oh why not another shot of Prowler. Le Taxi is taxi'ing Next up, Hot Summer Lights.
  11. Part IV They done a really nice job on this area of the park. A much needed addition for sure. I just wonder when they will re-do the worm and motorcycle spinny something another ride by the worm. And finally before we move on, how about some dog food bowls. Bye Snoopy! Time to travel the Nile. The giant scree is gone giving one better angles of which to take pictures of Mamba. However, they have poured a fresh concrete pad making me think they are putting in a stage of some sorts. Personally, I wished they just take all of this out and put in a Screamin Swing Time for the Nile.
  12. Part III It's 95 and about 100% humidity. Need to cool off? Go to the arcade. Let's go to Plant Snoopy and snoop around. LOOOOOK!!!! Snoopy has customized trashcans!! Shopping. They still have one ride left to get going. Lots of management staff in the Snoopy area today. Working on some wheels or something. And here is the outside of the ride station. There were still about three or four cars off track. The 500 Balloons
  13. Part II Patriot doing it's thing. Best ride crew of the park on June 3rd Still here. Still selling like mad. Lets see, over to Timberwolf. There's one, one train. Two, two trains! Me after taking it in the rear. OUCH! (Actually, it's not THAT bad) What do we have here. Well, it's a gondola. For Thunderhawk. And it's been moved since last visit. The gondola is supposed to go up there. They look like they are doing a major rehab on the ride. The back plates are off the seats, all the cabling and whatnot is exposed, but only visible from Timber Wolf. For you ride plate people. And for you control panel nerds. With Thunderhawk down, this area of the park is dead.
  14. So it was off to worlds of fun for opening night of Snoopy's Hot Summer Lights (June 3, 2011). Three rides were down today, two of which have been down since opening weekend. The Skyliner and Thunderhawk. The Zulu was also down for what appeared a catastrophic failure in the lifting area. From last visit, the park has done a good job of getting things back to normal after the winter storms, re-sealing the asphalt and cleaning up the crumbling bits, and have installed a number of new plants and shrubs. Patriot by far had the best ride crew with the train slowing to a crawl many times on the lift waiting for the one on course to clear the brake run. Prowler was down for a good bit, but once up, had minimal lines. The Prowler crew was quite friendly as were the F&B staff. Breaking this down in to multiple 10 picture segments to try and cut down on load time. Welcome to World Of Trashcan. Whoa. Wait a minute. Only ONE trashcan within eye site? Somethings not right. Ahhh, that's better Getting their landscaping in place for the season. So why not hit up one of their star attractions. They did an absolute wonderful job on the restoration. Nighttime. Sorry ACEr's
  15. I have to say my visit to an unnamed park today was less than impressive, but did I think of booing the park managers, no. Frustrated that two of my favorite rides were closed, you bet. But it was clear that those two rides were suffering from catastrophic failures and were in pieces. Three other rides were also closed with one re-opening. Once I noticed the ride testing, I stalked it until it re-opened and enjoyed many many rides on it the rest of the evening. When I gathered the final ride at closing time, I made sure to thank the ride staff for their hard work. Every one of them replied back with a "no, thank you, and have a good evening." If one is upset with a park, a letter or a non-confrontational discussion with a park supervisor or manager will generally solve the unhappiness, or at the very least, give you a proper explanation. Once one gets that, a simple thank you, I understand, or I appreciate your time, is all that is needed. Kindness goes a long way, and sometimes the fat, dumb, and happy of America forget that.
  16. I think the important thing here is that they have not given up and have spent tons of money to get this attraction tweaked just right. I for one, can't wait to see the entire POV, not to mention ride the thing.
  17. I'm just happy they got the roller skater open. Yes, I'm a whore.
  18. ^ Now there you go! Just tell them you have like 20 people staying in your room and you guys can have a Embassy Suites takeover!
  19. WOW! Even more amazing, the ride actually withstood it!
  20. ^^ Cool, after the park shuts down we can all take a walk down memory lane
  21. someone I know has a sh!--y phone.
  22. Overall it sounds like you had fun at one of my adopted home parks! Sorry the water wasn't working on Runaway Mountain, it's what really makes the theming. I saw you guys vacating the train on Judge, then I saw the cleanup crew. Too bad you guys didn't stick it out, they just let that train go empty and ran the other. They were cycling within about 10 minutes. Thanks for sharing your take!
  23. I like the idea of being able to scroll through the random or featured reports, similar to itunes.
