My latest adventure took me to the Circus Circus AdventureDome in Las Vegas on 6/24/11. Crowds were non existant, everything was walkon at 10pm. With a hotel discount coupon you could get a ride wristband for about $20. As many of you know, this park is good to kill an hour or two, beyond that, mucho boring. So no more rambling... Welcome to the Adventuredome Inside you find historic mountain ruins And an up and down sling shot. When I rode back in October, I was totally expecting to be hoisted to the top then dropped. WRONG! You're sprung wayyyy up to the top, then dropped. Next up is my new favorite flat ride type, the Mega Dick-O This Mega Dick-O has an insane and lenghy ride program Mega Dick-O doing it's thing -

Last and final part, some of this may have yourself asking, I ate there? We will start off by getting off the elevator and walking towards the House of Lords and here we are I didn't stick around long in here, it smelt of 40 year old grease and smoke. If you wanted to take the odor with you, it'll set you back $1,100 this is the house of lords kitchen area the prices were outrageous yummy for sale, no takers also no takers I'll take some fries please...NOT maybe some french onion soup under the broiler...yuck! or perhaps a hamburger so let's head over to another kitchen for the cafe and bars and whatever else they used it for NOTED! big pot cook large amount of food all of the food containers were up for grabs from anywhere from $5-$20 ok, so behind the kitchen was the employee hallways, this side taking you towards the bufffet. It also had a cut thru over to the acracde and coaster, but that was locked. this side of the hallway took you the casino floor, dumping out next to the NASCAR gift shop but before we make it the buffet, how about a stop to the Theatre dressing room back of house stairs to the balcony I'm guessing these were used as dessing rooms or offices on the second floor stage from the balcony ever wonder what show control looks like? well now you know. The lighting prices were over the top, many production companies looking it over, all saying it was waaaaay over priced. I tend to agree, at 1200+ I'd rather buy new. Noted! These stairs were at the end of the hallway taking you to the second floor where the buffet was. the chef's office one of the cooking areas fridges for sale, most broken NOTED! and NOTED! cooking area ever wanted to know what a dish sees before it enters the washer? employee dining room from where you could access the smaller theatre Noted! The smaller theatre entrance ok, so here we are at the buffet sorry ACEr's looking down the line you could buy a picture for $5, no kidding! some people bought their own! This area was a no no This is the other side of the no no area crap for sale, most of it I'm sure didn't work, plus, it was about 100% higher than it should've been ever wonder what a count room looks like? I called and got permission to enter! so in we go count it up! coin sorter still for sale as were the mules and the currency counter main cage area behind the magic wall in the cage area ever wonder what a cashier sees? the main casino floor where they still had well used tables for sale no more dice to be thrown but there was a light fixture to be bought

Part II Presidential Staying on the Penthouse floor we find the Presidential Suite. The day before I took this picture, the Presidential sign was still on the door, today, it was missing. living area Bathtub, again in the bedroom area with mirror. hmmmmm wonder what that was for... Like the penthouse, it has a girly area And an upgraded shower This is the sleeping area in the same room as the tub this place was huge, around the corner and down the hall we found a mini bar where you could buy this for like $600 multi sink girly area. Again, same suite. Another shower, the Prez has two showers! I wonder what else it has two of? It has two toilets! A his and hers! but that's not all.... It has a second tub in the the northwest corner with views all around Including that of the Stratosphere where you could watch people shoot up and drop off Or shoot out on Speed! On my way back out of the Presidential and on to floor 23. Notice how beat down the curtains were with light shining thru the holes in the liner. Welcome to floor 23, off the elevator you find this Down the hall. Only one of the three elevators worked, the service elevators were also shut down. Typical accomidations. you could purchase this quality piece for $50 $225 ok so here is the thing. In the south end of the building you found three rooms, all could be joined by opening pass thru doors, all had different sinks. pass thru door third room southeast side sink but, if you were to pass back thru the pass thru door and walk outside, you found this for 10 million. That's it for this Part, next and final part, the casino, kitchen, and theatre areas.

As promised, here are pictures of the Sahara including some of Speed: The Ride. It should be noted that the areas on the outside have had plywood walls errected making it difficult to shoot the ride track from the outside. Will post in multiple segments. They had you enter the garages off of Paradise Road, then walk to the main entrance. You could buy these fountain heads and lights for $325. No takers. Cedar Fair should have come to this sale. You could buy any of the signage you wanted to. even the phone booths Up on the Elevator lobby of the Penthouse, you could buy the carpet for $50, but not so fast, you can't take it until they are ready to shut the floor down for good. Off to the Penthouse we go where we go to the left and enter the living area. you could smell the history, the sofa, if you wanted it, was $275 On the other side of the living area, they had a wet bar complete with old school equipment Part of the washroom, this had to have been the sh!t back in the day In the bedroom we find the famous marble tub. It was still up for grabs for $475, then you had to figure out how to get it the hell outta there. Opposite of the tub was the bed This was the second bedroom And this is Speed from 25 stories in teh air The views were quite spectacular from this level, the building, however, was not. Speed was sporting a tear drop 104 out, and no pool to play in. The pool furniture was for sale, but sheesh, was it mildewed and dirt stained. It was also not selling very well. Finally for this segment we take a look at the bathoom Where you can take a shower... much like the bathtub, you have a nice view of the city no expense was spared Just outside the Penthouse was the service elevator and housekeeping area. The stairs to the right led to the roof.

FYI: I am still working with the liquidation company/owner of Speed: The Ride for a photo op. I am holding off posting photos of the hotel/ride in it's current state until I hear something one way or the other. On an unrelated note, I will be posting a PTR in my Diary thread within the next few days that shows the rehab taking place on Rim Runner.

^ If that was the selling point for those suites, that's sad, they were well used, I certainly would not have stayed in them, nostalgia or not. You are correct the flat screens in the "remodeled" rooms went instantly. I've been in contact with the group that owns the NASCAR part and Speed: The Ride thru the liquidation company. I am supposed to have an answer tomorrow about permission to take pictures of the ride. I'm headed over there in a few to photograph the hotel and back of house areas.

^ It's literally about 1/2 mile from my hotel (I'm not on the strip) and wouldn't be too much effort. I was mostly interested in combing thru stuff today. The ride lockers were in pretty rough shape last october and just seemed dirty. The ride itself I agree, seemed to be in pretty good condition. Hope it finds a good home.

^^ I can tell you that the tilt-a-whirl is missing now. Of the majors, all I know of that are left are the scrambler, round-up, log ride, sky ride, and spider/octopus. Bumber cars is unknown. -

^ Sadly, I don't see that happening. Basically, he's broke and being kicked out of the warehouses where the rides are stored. When I get back in town, I'll grab some photos of the site, it's getting bare. -

Well boys and girls, ZINGO is up for sale again, this time, not on E-Bay, but by a professional company http://www.facebook.com/#!/media/set/?set=a.175677172446122.47292.159151417432031 "1968 John Allen designed wooden coaster. Includes one 2000 PTC train. Replacement track package available. Train is available individually also. Premier RIdes USA Topper Track available AT COST for this ride!" -
I've noticed several CF parks offering a thumb drive for ~$20 with your picture on it. Then, next time you see a picture you want, give them the thumb drive and for a small fee, presto, your picture is on the thumb drive. WoF wants $3, I think Carowinds was asking $5 for each picture they load to the thumb drive. Pretty sure it has to be on a thumb drive you buy from them.

In short, by the truckloads. The Clarion up the road bought 100 box springs and mattresses, the camel lamps are selling fast. I heard they were already on ebay for like 600, they were selling them for 150. The prices were set, no negotiations. You could even buy the toilets if you wanted to. Once you buy the stuff, you have 24 hours to get it out. Several gaming tables are left, most of the kitchen equipment, and nearly all the stage lighting. The stage lighting was easily 15 years old and the system that ran it used a Windows 2000 machine for it's programming module. They wanted near retail price for most of the lights, maybe 30% less than new, then, you have to add sales tax and a 10% buyers premium, needless to say, that is just one example of many overpriced items. I think the mattress/boxsprings were 125 each, way overpriced for a worn mattress. Some of the furniture was decent, but honestly, 20+ years old. One company bought every ironing board they could find. Clearly for a hotel owner. If you want pots and pans, those are a plenty. Personally I snatched up a set of old school glass coca-cola glasses for $1 each, the sign said $2, wasn't going to argue. May go get more of them at that price. I have a training class during the day all this week, but I'll make it over there afterwards. They only let 300 in at a time, but since most of the good stuff is gone, that limit wasn't even close today. Not all of the items are for sale yet, many of the room floors are still closed, apparently they will open up new floors every few days. I may go ahead and try to make contact tomorrow with the sale organizer to see about pictures of Speed. If you guys really want to see what it all looks like, I'll make the effort to document it all.

Went to the liquidation sale today which basically confirmed what we already knew, the place is/was a dump. The stoves in the kitchens that had not yet been purchased/picked up showed years of grime from neglect. The carpets and flooring in the F&B areas were equally disgusting. The Penthouse and Presidential Suites looked like they had the original furniture. The electronics contained in them were state of the art in the early 70's. Overall, after seeing the back of house areas, the theatre back of house, and offices, and rooms, it makes me wonder how the place stayed open this long. Sadly, the NASCAR cafe and Speed: The Ride were in areas blocked off to the public. The NASCAR driver suits had been removed as had the display cars on the floor. I could not see up to the area of Speed. I got a contact number, I may try to call tomorrow and ask for permission to photograph the ride in it's dormant state. If anyone wants to see pictures, let me know, I can go back this week and do a full workup.

So I'm sure you are asking yourself, what in the hell is Black Gold Days. As a matter of fact, that's probably why you clicked the link. Well, simply enough, Black Gold Days is a celebration of when oil was first discovered in Glenpool, Ok in 1905. It features music, crap booths, food, and carnevil rides! So, this evening (June 17, 2011) I took a stroll around the community park to check it out. Ride tickets were $1 each with each ride needing 3-4 tickets, or you could purchase a wristband for $20. The attractions and games were put on by Pride Amusements (yes, their logo is rainbow colored for those wanting to know) and all seemed to be in great shape with their lighting packages all working (hint hint Cedar Fair). So off we go to picture land... So this is supposed to be some oil derek pride thing this is where you can buy crap, or, get a consultation on plastic surgery. In case you are asking, yes, I was too chicken to get a picture. The band was warming up for tonights concert. They have food for all the ethnic crowds, like Taco Salad and Funnel Cakes. And INDIAN Tacos!!! And for the rednecks, turkey legs. After you are done there, you go here. And then you go buy more crap. After you've shot you wad on crap, it's time to come check out the rides. We'll start off on a nice casual ride on the carousel. After a nice calm, relaxing ride, we make our way to the AVALANCHE! wooooooooaaaa woooooooooaaaaa So after you've managed to get your stomach pissed off, you can go win a domo by banging it hard. or perhaps you need another casual ride in the spook house. before you pee your pants on the Power Surge. Overall the lighting and sound made the ride, I got on a lame seat, not much twisting going on. spinny more spinny so needing a break, you can come over here and win more crap. or maybe you need another calming ride, like this ferris wheel, seat belt free. oddly enough, it had the longest line of all of the rides combined. so let's quite screwing around here and zip it down some may prefer to zip it up others may be too drunk to know what the zipper is doing. so once our zipping has be done, we can spin some more. this had like a 35 second ride cycle. so, I DID NOT RIDE Finally, after we've zipped, surged, and banged, we sizzle on the sizzler. And being as it was still 95 outside, it was sizzling. So there you have it, a look at Black Gold Days in Glenpool, Ok. Thanks for stopping by, and stay tuned ove the next two weeks, a slury of reports cometh, including my Adventures in Oregon and Washington with Laura. You won't want to miss it! -

I've heard rumors that SFOT is not 100% corporate owned. Is there any remote truth to that?
