  1. I find it fascinating how fast information is transmitted and received, not to mention that the flooding is being talked about in Germany. I need to get over there one day, maybe I can put that 5 years of german language class in middle/high school to good use.
  2. Um, no. Apple puts controls on iOs, which runs on the iPhone, iPod and iPad. Apple *does not* put any limits or controls on OSX, which runs on all their desktop and laptop computers. Robb is running OSX on his Macbook. OSX works like any modern desktop based operating system like Win7 or Linux. The main reason for the previous lack of gaming was Apple using PowerPC architecture for it's processors (which required a significant rewrite of code to run, usually not worth it for smaller games) , but since switching to Intel in 2006, more and more games have been ported. Also, it's Mac, which is short for Macintosh, not MAC. I've been in the IT proffession for over 10 years and hold numerous certs, allbeit in the microsoft world. I only spent about a year in the apple world, there was more money in the MS world to be made at the time for my location, besides, really never cared for apples. Oh, and no need to be a smart a$$, I know what mac is short for, thank you.
  3. you can fix that, right click on the desktop > view > use small icons also, to reduce the size of the taskbar icons, right click on the start bubble, > properties > taskbar tab > use small icons then under the start menu tab (in the same window open above) click customize, scroll to the bottom, and uncheck use large icons. to customize more like old school windows, again using the same menu, click on the task bar tab again, and under taskbar buttons, choose "combine when taskbar is full" that should solve the gigantic overpowering large icons, default from the manufacturer. If you can get 64 bit, do it.
  4. ^ Your point on pc based gaming declining over the past decade is dead on, me being a classic example of not knowing the cross platforming of pc based games to the mac and their popularity. Of course, I don't have a gaming console either, but considering getting a Wii in the near future. I'm sure its not as cool as a XBox or PS, but I think it will suit my desires, and the best part, its not microsoft.
  5. ^ I completely understand, don't get me wrong, I get frustrated every day fixing windows issues that should have been tested and too wished it would "just work". I'm not a win7 fan boy in anyway, if I detailed all of my troubles, I would run out of memory on my box. The one thing MAC has going for them is they limit and control the creation of software for their OS's ensuring that the programs are tested, retested, and certified for use. I can say that model has worked well for them, but in someways limits the ability of people to make stuff for their computers. You would know the answer to this better than I, but I don't see many MAC high-end games on the market, I could be wrong and not searching for them, but it seems the PC world has that locked up for the time being. If that is the case, that just shows all of the quality checks they put into their software, not to mention control of their O/S. XP, Vista, 7, all have to many backdoor methods of hacking the system and screwing things up. Microsoft relies on their vendors\software makers to make a product that will work with their OS and could give 2 sh!ts if it works or not. For what its worth (and money is what its amounts to) Crapsoft makes a version of office for the MAC, is a couple hundred bucks, I have it running on two macs here and users seem happy with it, or, at least they haven't complained to me about it. I'll be in Cali the end of October, if by that time you are still relying on Win7 to do things in and are still having issues, I could carve an hour or two out of my schedule to look at it, swear at it, and maybe even p!ss on it if need be. Chad "trying to help a brother out without seeming like a win7 fanboy" Carter *edit* if you want to disable the updater, its up a post, that might help you out some.
  6. seriously tho, check this out if you haven't already, item #3 may be your culprit, that and turn aero peek off. **edit** to disable updater: 1.Using Regedit.exe, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe 2.Create a new key in this folder named "Updater" 3.Create a new DWORD value within this key named "Enterprise" with a value of "1"
  7. ^ love the graphic, that's classic. I just ran a slew of updates for cs4 on some of my client nodes, i assume you have all of the latest updates?
  8. since other mp4''s play, i assume you encoded it the same way as the others, so all I can offer without seeing the file/behavior is to set the permissions on the file to "everyone", win 7 is figity on file security, so much so it drives me crazy, but, I don't have much of a choice, I have to deal with it, XP is EOL in 2 years. *edit* or reboot....3 times
  9. ^ That's good to hear! I'd say based on what my friends tell me in the Dallas area, that SFOT will be open this weekend, they are closed to the public Friday and I think they too would be very verbal on damage on the FB page and news releases. Sad that a few people lost their lives.
  10. I haven't yet found out anything about Schlitterbahn NB, my friends say they evac'd about 1k people in the area but don't know and haven't heard anything on the news about the park itself. Nothing on their FB page either Lots of video of rescues in the arlington/dallas area, if anyone wants to see them I can post them, however nothing else on SFOT. Up a few hundred miles in OK, we are expecting 5 inches of rain overnight, however, it's a steady rain and flash flooding shouldn't be an issue, just have to worry about flooding in general in the low areas and shallow creeks. ^ not insane, I was thinking the same thing! **edit** guess NB made it through according to this article, so guess they made it.
  11. ^ not yet, but I'm searching. I have some friends down that way, I will hit them up and see if they know anything.
  12. Did a quick search on this and for a thread on SFOT, didn't come up with anything (again quick search) but seen on the news where SFOT was under water courtesy of Tropical Storm Hermine http://video.aol.ca/video-detail/raw-video-six-flags-over-texas-flooding/415802452 http://www.myfoxdfw.com/dpp/news/090810-hermines-rain-goes-on-and-on So far, the only two videos I could find.
  13. ^^ Thats where the Pepsi money will come in handy
  14. ^ Thanks for the report dude, very nice.
  15. ^^^^So, what you are saying is, that someone was attempting to hack the design firms web server and ran across files that someone forgot to password protect. Assuming that's what happened, it can still be considered stealing. Just because you leave your bike out in the middle of your yard, doesn't mean someone else can come into your yard and take the bike. If it's not excplicity shown on a company's web page or linked to it, doesn't mean you can backdoor in and take what you want. I'm with Robb, I love the videos and can't wait to see what the BGT marketing department has in store for us next. Besides, the concept art might not even be what they are going with.
  16. PERV!!! HA HA, just kidding dude. I find that quite rude, you're more or less in public (allbeit on private property) and while in public you have no reasonable expectation of privacy. Someone was just trying to cause trouble, I wouldn't worry about it.
  17. ^ I'm glad I'm not the only one who recognizes this. I noticed other sites that I found in my search were only allowing the link to be posted. IMO if the park wanted this stuff out, they would put it out officially in some way, shape, or form. While it could be the park doing this, and I want to think they are, I have my doubts they would go through this much trouble to leak things just for the enthusiasts (I could be wrong, but doubt it). The videos are great and the BGT marketing folks are doing a remarkable job.
  18. I hate to be mr negative here, but something doesn't pass the smell test on this new blog site. 2 issues stick out like a sore thumb. First, new user on this site, 2nd, brand new blog created, 3rd, brand new twitter account created, all happening within 24 hours of this information coming out, PLUS, they have a free live.co.uk account which can be created from anywhere, just tried it. So, either this person has stolen the information, works for the design firm, or works for the park. Then, on top of that, they want "correspondents" who visit parks on a regular basis but only for those in the Orlando market. So, I would say if this person was really into theme parks, they would have started with their own domain name and website (godaddy.com does it on the cheap for no more traffic than they will get initially) and they would have slightly more contact info than a clandestine e-mail address. There is NO WAY i would sign up to be a "correspondent" sending a few sentences about myself not knowing who I'm working with, the profile on this site and blogspot are empty, but thats not too uncommon. I could go on and on, but won't bore you, it's just something doesn't smell right....I have a strange feeling the park might be up to this, but then again, who cares, if the pics and drawings are legit, horray! Looks to be a fantastic ride. I would bet if the park didn't want them out, they would've already had their lawyers working this weekend sending out cease and desist orders to google (blogger.com/blogspot.com) as well as the creator if they could find him/her and the pics would be down by now. just sayin' A quick google search shows this info is all over the major enthusiasts sites and as far up as Canada on news sites, so someones been busy.
  19. you can really tell the age and history of the ride by your shot of the lift hill, thanks for the update! Lets just all hope they get all the money together they need to complete the restoration process.
  20. I hate to think that these pictures were stolen, nonetheless, I have enjoyed looking at them, especially the sign telling you to "keep head erect" hmmm, were have I heard that before. Anyway, noticed in the platform photos two load areas, so that should speed things up a bit.
  21. I've been on several BG guided Tours, tho, not this one. The Ultimate Tour specifically says you get unlimited front of line access the entire nite, while the other two do not state unlimited, they do state front of line access. And honestly, given parking is 15 dollars, and the Mega tour gives you free parking, i would jump all over the Mega tour, with everything you get, it is for sure the best value for your dollar. Bottom line is, you won't be disappointed with a BG tour, they really treat you like a VIP
  22. ^ Fantastic News! Thanks for sharing! Nice to hear that the people are showing up to support the park, just wished I lived closer! Maybe one day, I'll change that.
  23. at sfot they've raised the prices for next year 5 -10 dollars, not much to yell about since they give out 20% off for being a SP holder this year for hitting them up 5 times. One thing they are doing now is if you buy 4, you get free parking next year, not sure if the same holds true at other parks, these prices are good thru last operating day in Janruary 2011, then they go up.
