Get a supervisor involved. Period. As a lead I always expect my operators to get me involved in any "questionable scenarios." She never should have been denied to begin with but I DO understand the operator being gun shy. I get that, but at that point a lead and/or supervisor should have been called over to thwart this whole scenario.
As far as I'm concerned, the operator that she came in contact with 1st caused this entire mess. SF admitted fault when the Guest Services/Rides department supervisor offered for her to ride.
^Understood, but sounds to me like Six Flags is at fault here.....
I will say though, It's good SF covered their a$$ by breaking down the term "Fully functioning arm" as an arm with 1 functioning finger is also considered "functioning."
Those steel cables are supposed to prevent such an accident. Definitely odd.
When I was a lead at Boomerang at KBF some douchebag hopped the gate that's next to the stairs at the right in this picture. The train had just released from lift 2 and I had to slam on the E-Stop. Those brakes brought that train to a grinding halt and made a sh*tload of noise. The brakes definitely worked as intended.
Problem is, Otis doesn't work for free. SFMM probably doesn't have OR want to spend the money required to update permits and maintain a service contract. Seems to me that the park is just taking the "easy way out" and just pretending the Sky Tower is not there.
Why would the announcement of TTD have any affect on what SFMM and SFOT were getting?
It was rumored that SFMM was trying to keep up their coaster count. But this was all hearsay.
