  1. I'm pretty sure that hill would be borderline unsafe without trims before it. You still end up with strong floater, and snappy transitions afterward.
  2. I'd get it if I lived right next to the park. Just moved a half hour away from bgw and it wouldn't take much of a price drop to tempt me.
  3. Yeah what kind of nerd knows the ins and outs of an industry?!
  4. Whether it's better or worse than Maverick, it's still next to Maverick! The back of cedar point is going to be insanity! The view from up top is going to be great too if it's much taller.
  5. From the new photos it looks like this pov is totally accurate. It looks like it's a bit airtime crazy in this...
  6. The seat dividers were a metaphor. It is us who are divided.
  7. Well they're usually something like half the price. The expensive ones are a bit of a head-scratcher but they're not too common. El Toro seems like a great product and Intamin probably promoted the heck out of pre-fabs buy nobody bought them. It does make a big line but maybe it had a low attendance effect. I think all 3 of the ones this year are budget-options, especially Invadr which I'd guess is in sub 5 million range. Gravity groups these days seem like they're for parks trying to make the most out of very small budgets, with GCI's dominating the price point just above. If I was a park I'd think I'd want to advertise an RMC as a hybrid for a modern sound. I'm sure the marketing department would know best though.
  8. The two RMC types are barely different anyways. And yeah, a lot of GP thinks of wooden coasters as old fashioned or inferior.
  9. Nice to see china getting hypers, but the two (just this and the recent intamin, right?) up so far seem very conservative as far as forces go. I'd say that makes sense for this market but they've also been getting some crazy intamin launchers, megalites, and S&S launchers (are those finished? I guess demand dried up for that series).
  10. Hmm, some of these parks have significant coaster assets. If any of those are these transient parks could we end up seeing a significant Chinese-coaster resale market? Would be funny to see some new generation Chinese rides end up in western parks. If some of the parks were there just for temporary property development, I'd think they'd be full of portable/shippable rides for an exit strategy. China's 'middle class' (70% of the population) earns $9000 to $34000 per year, so it's not a big shock that the industry has a hard time recouping global attraction costs. They probably need huge attendance to be able to price the parks in that market.
  11. The first camelback is going to be something else, possibly looking at the best airtime moment ever.
  12. I believe it could be a world's best, although there have been a lot of coaster that look that way and end up having a bit less oomph than it seemed like they would. It seemed like the intamin hyper series was cut short despite being so well liked, this may be the one to rule them all.
  13. I don't know why people are calling this uninspired, it's full of crazy stuff; the Vekoma ended with a bunch of flat turns. I think a lot of people are underestimating 'intamin twisties', those can be super intense elements.
  14. I didn't ask about retracking because I think they should change the ride (those seats/restraints are bad tho). I mentioned it because it's a heavy duty steel machine whose parts (including the track) wear out. Arrow gave service life estimates to most of their rides. Ask Big Bad Wolf about it. I was wondering when that window might be, and what they might do about it for such a famous ride.
  15. Any indication on what the expected operating life of Magnum is? Would they just get someone to retrack it?
  16. Have they said anything about theming the ride area? Some cheap log cabins and landscaping in there would make this addition much much more appealing, and really transform that area of the park. Even Le Scoot would benefit a ton from looking over that, and the view from the bridge and alpengeist would be great. Also, is there any indication that there will be any construction coverage, or is it just up to the BGW blog?
  17. I'm happy for that the Chinese are getting some killer rides these days. I bet a lot of people there thought they were just torture devices until recently.
  18. I think the ridership just doesn't justify the maintenance load in a lot of cases.
  19. A swivel with bolts through it? And a powerful motor with no power supply 'hidden' within a small tube?
  20. It looks like a huge ride on a huge plot of wild land. Might not be a RMC but I'd be surprised if it isn't a high-thrill coaster.
  21. A flyer would really shine in anaconda's spot, but it seems like it's sticking around. I'd hate to see the trees around the flume taken out.
  22. It looks like there's nothing on the track controlling rotation. Relying on on-board motors sounds like a risky situation, they could be swinging and weighted.
  23. Coaster sections in that 'station orientation' would be very cool, especially with setpieces or scenic views to look at.
  24. GCI is already building 4 rides this year, more than any other year. Not sure they have the capacity for another project.
