It's a collapsible cane. You push the little pin at the top to release it, and it springs into shape (like magic!). I had to use one for a play one time; they're fun.

Ever Been The Only One On A Ride?
Vigil replied to greatamerica1990sfan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I was the only person on Loch Ness Monster, front row, the last ride of the night, and was basically the only person still on any ride. I was screaming my head off for fun, and it was great. -
Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
Vigil replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I will be at Hersheypark for the first time since Storm Runner was added tomorrow and Saturday. I want to have a bit of a strategy, so does anyone have any advice or suggestions about when to do certain rides, places to get food, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated! -
The Mysterious B&M Green Wingrider Track
Vigil replied to GigaG's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^^I was wondering along the same lines, that is if B&M will experiment with the wingrider trains. Personally, I think that the wingrider design would perfectly suit a beyond-vertical drop if they ever wanted to do something like that. -

TPR Front Page RE-Design Contest!
Vigil replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well, I had been working on this and wanted to submit it anyway. There is the main TPR update feed with the large picture and the bar below for other updates, which jump up and display the description when moused over. -

Canada's Wonderland Discussion Thread

That was the thing that I noticed the most when all the pictures of the lift hill were going up. Everyone else was like "Woah. The ride is huge!" To me though it didn't look any bigger than any other ride because there was nothing to compare it to and the track was HUGE, so the scale looked the same to me. But now...this is one big ride. -

UVA is going to the Chik-Fil-A Bowl! Ok I know...it's UVA. But I am in the marching band so we get to travel, and we haven't been to a bowl in four years! Any other Wahoos here?

^^^^I had almost the exact same experience in the back row of Apollo's Chariot the last day of Howl-O-Scream this year. I had a water bottle in my coat pocket that kept the bar from ratcheting down all the way; the red line was barely showing. But I moved the bottle going up the lift so there was a ridiculous amount of space between the bar and my lap. Going down the first drop I flew up so high but held the lap bar up so it wouldn't go down, but over the second hill. I had my legs straight and could feel myself slipping up and backwards. I pushed the bar down after that.

I was at the park yesterday as well. (I actually saw you, cfc, walking in New France and in line for Apollo's Chariot). It was freezing but so much fun. Verbolten looks so much better in person than in pictures. Also, I did not realize how big it is. Maybe it is just me, but it looked kind of small in pictures. It's huge! The haunts were also really great. I hadn't been to Howl-o-Scream in about 6 years, and it was amazing. I thought all the mazes were really good. Interestingly enough however, I (nor the person I was with) did not really like 13 very much. It might been that we were at the end of the group and stuck with this annoying family who kept stopping to point things out. But there weren't a whole lot of actors (lots of hanging things for sure). It was OK. I actually liked fear fair a lot. It looked like they spent a lot of time on that. Deadline was awesome. And Bitten and Catacombs were really fun too. Oh and Mach Tower was really fun. I rode it three times right when the park opened because nobody was there (and the rest of the park had yet to open). I hadn't been on it, and I thought it was a lot of fun. Not as intense as some others but a great addition to the park.

Just to clear things up I think one was referring to "car" as one car of a coaster train. The other was referring to "car" as the entire themed train. As in the difference between the Italian job trains (each car of the train is one car with a license plate) and the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster trains (each train is one long "car," with each train having a separate license plate.) Anyway, this ride is looking like it will be ridiculous amounts of fun. I am not going to tell my sisters about the drop track just so they can be surprised (and I normally would tell them)...I told my dad because I was bursting to tell someone. I know I'm such a coaster nerd...

UVA won! Admittedly it was against W&M. But hey we won. And the marching band (which I'm in) rocks! Hopefully, London can turn things around.

UVA Cavalier Marching Band (Goooo drumline)! And we won tonight!. Any other Wahoos out there?

OK this is my Classics nerd coming out, but Apollo is not the Roman god of the sun, nor is he the Greek god of the sun. Helios is the Greek god of the sun, and Sol is his Roman counterpart. Apollo is the god of prophecy and music. In later Greek mythology Apollo became conflated with Helios, as his sister, Artemis became associated with Selene (the moon). The actual myth involves Helios and his son, Phaethon. Apollo has nothing to do with it... Alright back on topic.
