  1. I would be interested to see more of the operational and safety aspects of rides in general. How do some of these incredible rides actually work, the training that is involved with the staff that operates them, how does a maintenance staff at a large park with almost 20 coasters (SFMM) handle keeping everything running smoothly on a daily basis, and the systems that actually control the ride and all of the redundant safety features built into a ride. I think it would be important to focus on just how very safe these rides are and show this to anyone/the GP watching.
  2. Aren't there other companies that make parts for Arrow coasters? If so then as long as it does not demolish itself the park could keep it going for a long time.
  3. Because Americans can't take resposibility for their own actions and they have to blame others.
  4. I wouldn't exactly refer to SFMM as a beautiful setting. Nor is the view of the Santa Clarita & San Fernando Valleys all that awe inspiring. Yeah, I would agree with that. Once you would be lifted 'out of the trees' the view of the parking lot and desolate landscape is kind of, meh.
  5. Ok, THAT'S what I did not understand. Since I did not design this ride I was guessing what that sensor that was mentioned was for as that seemed to make sense. I am really fascinated by the technical side of rides and the systems that control them so on this ride for example, it would seem to me that it would have a sensor for that purpose, but apparently not. Sometimes it's tough to discuss technical things about rides on this site because everybody knows what they are talking about but most have never had experience designing or building these rides, I fall into that category. Jew, thank you for being willing to discuss this, it's nice to be able to chat without getting into an argument and just so you know I never meant it to go that way, I was just trying to understand this better. I still have not been to the park yet to ride this either.
  6. See that's the thing, ride systems are so sophisticated now that it SHOULD have known. Bottom line is there was no accident, just an inconvenience but it's too bad this system allows for such an inconvenience. By your standard, every single ride on the planet is dumb. Anyone who has ever worked on a ride in any capacity will tell you that they ALL have weird quirks. That's the nature of the beast. PLC's are NOT supercomputers. You can only write so many lines of code that will obviously not account for every possible situation. The ride system did exactly what it was designed to do. It allowed for the train to advance into the station as soon as it knew it was safe to do so. No one is sitting in meetings going "hey, lets cut down the theoretical capacity to avoid the very slim possibility of a downtime that requires manually moving trains!" No that's not true at all. My 'standard' does not dictate that every single ride on the planet is dumb- your words not mine. But IF the sensor that tells the PLC the train has successfully completed going over the loop which would mean at that point it cannot roll back trips, then the train rolls back anyway because it really has NOT successfully completed going over it, doesn't that seem like something is not right there? Maybe the sensor is for something else, I don't know, but in THIS instance that makes no sense.

  8. ^If the sensor that indicates the train is far enough over the loop tripped yet the train still rolled back then maybe the sensor needs to be repositioned.
  9. Change the name.... leave it, I don't care. The new paint makes it fresh and it's still a great ride.
  10. Pretty much The ride looks like it's gong to be kick A$$, some people will call it a wood coater and some people won't. I wish them all the best in their decision making while I'm enjoying myself riding! Agree 100%. None of that matters. What matters is it's going to be really fun and not turn into a deathtrap!
  11. It's kind of like adding bandages on a skeleton. Ok you know what, that was funny as hell!
  12. You know if they really named it that I would be ok with it. It would be 'interesting' and different and humorous at the same time.
  13. Shouldn't it technically be "Inverted Coaster 2"? It should be "Remaining Inverted Coaster". I was referring to the fact that Flight Deck was the second B&M invert ever built.. True and I am referring to the fact that it is the only remaining inverted coaster at this park. Both of them are funny though, could you imagine if they really renamed it one of those? OMG that would be hilarious!

  15. Also it was a maintenance nightmare that couldn't open with the park. Also parts couldn't be that hard as it's still operating in Mexico. A maintenance nightmare? I don't know about that. I think there is one member on here who could give the correct story of this ride, Double0Kevin.
  16. Earlier today I saw a dude standing in front of it holding a blue moon- couldn't get a screen cap though.
  17. This is probably one of the coolest rides I have ever seen, wish it was around here.
  18. People like that should not be allowed to own a cell phone or touch a computer.
